I can tell you, the process…read moreof going to Dr. Abbas for a root canal is NOTHING compared to getting a crown prep, going home for a week with a fake acrylic tooth on your ground down real tooth,-- that is sensitive to everything-- and then, having to get numb all over again to get a crown fitted on. People complain about root canals like they are a death sentence. (wut?) Just get the root canal done, already! He and his staff are very professional. He is no-nonsense, and low on the chit-chat (unless you chat), which you want when someone is dong something this precise and serious. He asked me a few times how I was doing, and warned me about a couple of things that some people find uncomfortable, but in my case, I was lucky, I didn't feel any pain. Now it has been about 5 days and I did not even think about it for the last 2 days or so... completely forgot I had it done, and thank god I did, because my tooth has been bothering me on and off for a year, trying various things to "avoid a root canal". I am so grateful. Add to that the medical facility campus in Gilroy neighborhood is just beautiful - Looks like a resort all the trees and beautiful flower plantings first class top to bottom. The office itself is very nicely appointed the bathroom is really nice He even had a CT machine so he could scan me and it was a very fair price. additionally the 90 minute quote went into a full two hours and he stuck with the quote and didn't charge me for the extra time for which I'm very grateful as well. Alexandra, the receptionist, was very friendly and helped me register as a new patient. Not having dental insurance, I was happy to know that Dr. Stephens offers an in-house program that is a yearly payment (very reasonable) and reduces all your procedures. Dr. Stephens is very kind and explains everything thoroughly, which I really appreciate. He is also gentle when he works on your teeth. He is very pleasant to talk to also. Martha, the hygienist, took X-rays and gave me an excellent cleaning and I had not had my teeth cleaned for a while. She, too, was very pleasant and gentle. She kept checking to see if I needed a break. I chose Dr. Stephens after coming in to meet him and having a free consultation that is offered to new patients. I am very happy Dr. Stephens is my dentist!

My first child had a cavity at 2yo and a Monterey dentist recommended a crown under general anesthesia. I almost lost it at the gall (now I realize this is pretty standard from standard dentists). I was able to save the tooth with diet and supplements. My second child's teeth came in with patches of enamel missing. Even the holistic dentist we were seeing at the time recommended fillings under general anesthesia. Finding Dr. Nordstrom, who uses less drastic measures, was an answer to my prayers. They aren't taking any more patients, but made an exception. Dr. Nordstrom took so much time and patiently filled every tooth of my very uncooperative 2.5yo. He is so kind and takes time to build a rapport with the child. Instead of barging in the room, he quietly leans against the door frame and engages in a conversation with the child from a distance. He only approaches when the child has warmed up to him. He filled all teeth with my girl sitting on my lap and leaning back on his knees (instead of sitting on the scary big dentist chair). I feel so lucky he's within driving distance.
