At the recommendation of a…read morefriend, we signed up for S2G after a negative experience with another local soccer program, and S2G was EXACTLY what we were looking for at age 4-5. It's a great introduction to soccer that isn't a "league" where the focus inevitably becomes who wins/loses. As others have noted, Coach Nitzi is outstanding. From the first practice, he knew my name and my son's name, and we immediately felt part of a community. Fast forward to present day and we have done all the S2G offerings -- classes, camps, winter indoor soccer. My son has turned into quite the soccer player and S2G absolutely contributed to both his skill development and his love of the game. It's a great option for families who are pretty serious about soccer (like we are), but also for kids who just want to have fun -- it really is a range and Coach Nitzi is able to accommodate and challenge all skill levels. He has great awareness and is very adept at dealing with a large group of kids with different learning styles and personalities. I say this with great admiration as a fellow soccer coach with much less patience. ;-) All to say, if you are looking for a soccer option that is not a league, or an option to supplement your kid's league seasons, or a great camp option, I highly recommend S2G!

Overall, the program can be good for kids to get introduced to soccer and teamwork. However, during the last few classes the coaching shifted toward more competitive play, which became overwhelming for my son at his age. He started crying during those portions of class, and after three sessions like that we decided it was best to take a break so he doesn't develop a negative association with the sport. The most frustrating part was trying to request a refund for the next session I had already registered him for. It was very difficult to reach anyone by phone (voicemail was full), and it took several emails and weeks to get a response. In the end, the only option offered was a refund minus a $50 administrative fee or a credit for a future session. While the program itself has some positives, the communication and refund process felt inflexible for families with very young children who may need more flexibility.

Staff follow up from assessment with suggestions and helpful class suggestions. The coaches in EVERY session are ridiculously fantastic. The facility is magical, but the magic is nothing without the coaches. So thank you coaches. You all are amazing! The "good" classes were hard to get, but sometimes we get lucky with last minute cancellations. If your child loves soccer, you'll end up living there... it's an amazing space. Brilliant COPA, absolutely brilliant.

So many memories, like winning a state championship and rock climbing with my friends. The Bladium was an experience: to drink, to play sports, to work out, to have fun. I recently came back after finishing college, just to find the main football field and a majority of the weight room gone to pickleball. At first, I did not mind, however, it feels like the only people who come in are pickleball players. Its sad to see my friend's old family business being made into a pickleball center. Even the new company's logo shows where their priority is at. Heartbreaking to see. I will always remember the sounds the floorboards made.

Great experience with their summer soccer camp!…read more My son did a week-long all levels camp and initially was signed up for half days but he enjoyed it so much he asked to do full day for the remainder of the week. Communication with the administrative team was top-notch with quick responses to my emails, the team of coaches was professional and great with kids and the days were filled with drills, scrimmages, and fun games. I was concerned about the hot weather but they had canopies for the kids to sit and rest under in the shade. Thank you 24-7 team!

This place is lightweight addictive. And I'm not talking about the baseball field... I'm referring…read moreto the hiking trails that are located right behind it. One would never think that such beautiful hiking trails were hidden behind this field at first glance. If you've ever driven down broadway towards highway 24, you've probably noticed the parking lot that's located on the righthand side just at the stoplight. Or maybe you haven't noticed it. Well, I've noticed it for a few years now but always thought that it was nothing. I finally looked it up on a map one day and noticed that there were some trails leading up to Skyline Boulevard. So, one day I took a drive there and parked. The field is what you'll probably notice first. Walking in, you'll see the field to your right. This field is used by the North Oakland Sports Center, and both kids abs adults use it to practice. There are actually two separate fields, but I've only seen the one closest to the parking lot being used. Could be because of Covid. Right across from the field is a "park". I say that loosely because it isn't really a park, that's what it's defined as. There's a picnic table, a few workout bars, and some heavily graffitied porta-potties in this "park". And then there's a flat walking path. This is the path that will lead you up to these glorious hiking trails. I've hiked here about a handful of times now, and each time I've discovered a new path. The main path will take you all the way to Skyline Boulevard. On your journey up, you'll be graced with the beautiful sights and smells of tall Eucalyptus and Redwood trees. Most of the paths are shaded but there are a few exposed parts. It doesn't seem to get to hot in this part of town, so this hike is ideal during anytime. As you incline up the hills, you'll have the most stunning views of the city with the all too familiar view of the picturesque Bay Bride in the distance. The trails aren't very long... maybe a few miles at most. But you could connect them and take different routes there's and back to extend the mileage. I love that there are a mix of both inclines and flat paths. What's nice about this trail is that it's truly hidden from everything and everyone. I've never seen more than 5 people on this trail when I've hiked it. I could actually probably condense that number down to 3. It's really desolate. And the people that I have seen on this trail are so friendly. The other day I was exploring a new trail but missed a turnout. On the way back, I ran into a guy that I saw at the start of my hike. I asked him if he knew where the turnout was and I ended up following him there. People are really kind here. Most of them local. I should warn that some of the trails are actually bike paths and are extremely steep and not really meant for hiking. You may have to scramble on a few sections. I've been avoiding these spots lately ever since I almost slid down an embankment on another hiking trail. The scrambling freaks me out now, but for someone who doesn't scare easily when slipping, it can be kind of an adrenaline rush. Plus, those trails will lead you deep into the forest and the views are most stunning. But anyways, these hiking trails are amazing. It's funny because they're seriously hidden. Now it makes sense why there's never anybody there. I guess I'm letting the cat out of the bag now. But with all of the other more popular parks nearby (Lake Temescal, Sibley, Tilden, Claremont Canyon) I don't think that this place will ever get that crowded. But one thing that I know for sure; I will most definitely keep coming back for more.

Caldecott Field is home to several little league baseball tourneys, pickup soccer on Saturday and…read moreSunday mornings (depending on conflicts with baseball), and a fire trail that a lot of folks like to hike with their dogs. The grass is best kept during baseball season (which, conversely, means that you're likely to get kicked off of it precisely because of the baseball folks). But the field is enormous, and is nestled among trees and hills on three sides. Perfect setting.
