My stay at the Clarence Square was terricfic. I would love to stay again when back in Toronto. I arrived at the airport in the evening and to the place around 8:00pm. There is a free Terminal Link Train from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. Terminal 1 train will take you to the Union Station (UP). ($12.35 CAD-Buy a ticket from the machine and show it to the man standing on the quai). A 25 minute ride and hard to see stops and hear the announced stops at night. I walked from the union station to Clarence Square. I followed the signs that said Front Street in the Union Station and after existing the union station I turned left and followed Front Street for approx 10 blocks to Spadina, turned right and walked one block and there I found Clarence Square for only one more block. It actually is in front of a park but being so cold, snowy and at night it was a bite hard to tell. Many people were out walking and that helped. The staff was very pleasant and accepting. No one ever asked me to pay the taxes in cash as I had previously read, however I was told they had to have a credit card on file even if you paid with a debit card. I had to change my room to another building I was told because I wanted a first floor room. I accepted the room on the second floor about 20 steps to climb because in house 7 this is where the breakfast, microwave, refrigerators and etc are. Otherwise you will have to leave the next door apartments and come over to have breakfast. Bread, coffee, milk, cereal, and fruit is availableat 8am. The entire room was clean and warm. I would suggest having a sweat shirt for the night during cold months. It was very cold in Toronto but everything is in walking distance. (food, Eaten Center-mall and etc.) The guests were very cordial. A clean and respectable place. Istayed 4 nights in Feb. 2026. read more

A nice big park in downtown Toronto. I have noticed a few tents are set up at the park. Kind of sad to see homeless people living in the park. The homeless people pose no harm and it is sad to see that they fell into tough times. The park was clean when we visited. I am guessing there must be someone from City cleaning the park or taking care of the park on a frequent basis. It is a safe park. Yes it is also a dog park. There is a dog play area fenced off. There are many benches for visitors to unleash their dogs and to sit and watch their dogs play. The park has a lot of shaded area/trees which is great especially in the spring and summer time when Toronto gets very hot. The park has a small fountain beside the dog play area. Parking can be a pain. No free parking nearby. Overall, it is a nice park. read more

The world needs more dog parks and this park in urban Toronto is a lovely one. It's the size of two city blocks and has sections fenced off for the doggies so that they can run without leashes. I sat here resting my feet for about fifteen minutes and watched two dogs chasing the same ball and having a grand time. Quite relaxing. As for the dog sitting in the puddle, that was worth a giggle. The park is literally a square shape. About 40% of the park is a fenced-off unleashed dog park. The other half has green grass with many benches you can sit on. The centre part has a fountain (which was not on during pandemic times). There are many large trees offering shade. There is meter parking along the streets surrounding the park. read more

A small little park right off of Spadina. It's also called poop park. Clarence Square is one of the oldest remaining park spaces in the downtown core. The place is very neglected since all the dogs that come here have a poop party and the owners don't bother picking it up. It's got roughly 5 large cedar trees with patches of medium sized grassy terrains. It is a relatively quiet, and shady park. There is 4 benches and few picnic tables. There is a drinking fountain in the centre of the park. If you want some entertainment come have a seat. But even the benches are questionable. Lots of crazies, crack heads, dog walkers, kids, young couples and tons of students walk through here. There's a guy that resembles Jesus, comes here with a book and pretends to talk to "his friends" telling them to be quiet. Right now... as in July 9th 3:19pm.. there is a gay couple making out hardcore on the park. I took picture... NOT because I want to exploit them... I'm shocked. HOW CAN THEY ROLL ALL OVER THE GRASS WITH ALL THE POOP???? It's been 20minutes and they are still dry humping the lunar eclipse outta each other. Am I a pervert for staring? I'm worried ... about myself. I have a theory. They are def new lovers.. the way they are going at it. They met at pride last week and are on a tumultuous love affair rolling in dog poop parks and such. Anyhow,..... they are gone now. Hand in hand. Awww. I have never created a business and written a review so fast in my life. Just so I could share with my fellow partially perverted yelpers. The fact that I'm not ashamed about my exploitation is a bit concerning. OH WELL. fun fact: In the northwest corner of the park is a historical plaque honouring Alexander Dunn, born near the park, who was the first Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross. Now that I've been dog sitting for about a week, I seem to be frequenting many dog parks in the city. What an excuse to venture into the off-leash area without having strange looks my way as I look into the dog area because now I have a dog to accompany me into the dog park. I have walked or ran by Clarence Square Park on numerous occasions, but this afternoon was the first time I found myself in the off-leash dog park which was pretty amazing. Lots of small pebbles in the enclosed area and the dogs seemed to love it as they can run and play freely without stepping into a muddy mess or pool of puddles. The dog park is definitely a decent size for being right downtown and the proximity to the many condos in the area is a convenience for sure for the neighbourhood. Being a newbie into this dog park, I felt like a bit of an outcast since not everyone was as friendly as the other parks, but in my opinion it was an opportunity for me to take photos and do a write-up on this beautiful park. I'm sure if I was a regular in this dog park, the other dog owners will be more friendlier or perhaps I can simply attempt to strike up a conversation next time and see what kind of reception I will receive. Wish me luck! The park has gone through a major revitalization over the past couple of years and it definitely has changed the dynamics of this square. The trees remained plentiful and the numerous benches within the square is definitely a welcome addition during the lunch hour or breaks throughout the day. This park used to be great, lots of room to run, pebbles instead of wood chips, several entrances. But, over the fall of 2020 they refilled it, but, they used a cheap kind of pebble, it breaks down and it creates lots of dust, my dog ends up coated with this sticky white powder, and a few of the dogs have gotten cuts on their paws from pebbles that have broken in half. read more

What a huge improvement since they renovated this park over the summer. Now there is a fenced in area for dogs to run around and the rest of the park no longer looks like a seedy hangout for drug addicts. The surface of the dog park is small pebbles which seems to be common around this area. Grass would be nicer but I assume the dogs would destroy it too fast. The only nice addition would be a covered area in the off-leash dog area, but other than that this park is my top spot to take the dog. read more

It's a pretty decent off leash dog park in the middle of the city with a great bunch of people. We don't go that often because I find since the park is pretty populated ...there's a lot of urine dust build up on the gravel ...and I find that after my dog runs around in it, she smells like pee dust. Gross. When do I go? I go after it rains (and drys a little), and in the winter time right after it snows. My dog gets pretty bored in this park quickly so we tend to just go in, say hi...pass by while going to other places....but it is a safe place for people. It loses stars because of the pee dust gravel rocks, and the bums that like to hang out in that area. read more

Really nice park! We moved in this neighborhood since last May and enjoyed walking here during summer time. We just adopted our puppy and took her here to do some socialization. I would say both people and their dogs are Extremely friendly, probably the most peaceful dog park I have ever been! read more

This review is for the dog park at Clarence Square. Mon-Fri gets a bit rowdy at 5pm with everyone walking their dogs post-work. However it is a really big space with water fountains and some benches with nice shade for us humans. I prefer the parks with wood chips over pebbles but my pup loves it here so what can I do. read more

Moved to the neighborhood in October 2014 and this park is a gem! Quick details - Pebble laced park, there's one working water fountain for dogs, no washing/hose station, large tree canopy, park benches, three separate entrances/exits. When it rains there may be some pooling but it only floods a quarter of the park, hardly a deterrent unless your pooch loves taking a puddle bath... What makes this park so great is the people. They are all very friendly and genuinely want to help each other and build a sense of community. Owners are cognizant of their dog's whereabouts and will jump in when there's the odd dog confrontation. Since the recent off leash law enforcement rules kicked into place June 2015, more Cityplace condo owners migrate over but it doesn't make the post 5pm space congested. Bringing a ball to the dog park won't necessarily mean you'll leave with it :) One downside is the transient dwellers outside the dog park who are usually inert but have outbursts towards each other. If coming to the park in the evening, best to buddy up. Overall, great park and equally the owners+dogs! read more

Eh, a bit sterile-feeling, especially compared to other Toronto parks.

This park was conveniently located two blocks from the Hyatt where we were staying with our dog. I thought it was a good size and nicely fenced in. I also liked the dog water dispensers. There are a few benches and enough shade to keep cool. read more

It's nicely located across from the hostel my group visited and makes Toronto seem a little less big city. Unfortunately a lot of the homeless also gather there. read more
