I came here because my parents used to come here still come here I guess, so I thought that was a good sign. They were very very kind. There was something wrong with my car that made it so that an alignment wouldn't last. Instead of just taking my money and letting me drive off knowing that I'd be right back basically they were honest with me and didn't want to take advantage of that. I really was shocked that anybody in that industry has that kind of integrity I got my brakes replaced in the rear, but I thought I was gonna need front end back but they said no I didn't need the front. I saw again another integrity move. I'll be back soon for my front brakes because they definitely need it now. Looking forward to it. I've had 2 cars from 2 different manufactures and had alignment done by both dealerships. Both times when I went to rotate my tires they have hand uneven ware patterns. Both times I've taken them here to Clarence Brown. They are always trustworthy, reasonable and friendly. I called and made an appointment, dropped my car off, when I did they asked if there were any issues or things that I noticed. I told them I rotated my tires and noticed that both front tires were worn more on the inside. I was told it would take about an hour. Since they are located just off convoy street, I walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch. When I returned it was done and they explained what they had found and corrected. You should never trust alignment from dealerships, I've been burned twice and they are infamously over priced. It was literally half the price here and more importantly they do it right. read more

I just had the alignment inspection/adjustments performed on my Son's 2016 Honda Pilot. The technician noticed a slight vehicle "pull", the front tires were cross rotated and now the vehicle tracks straight. I had my 2012 Honda Accord alignment service performed as well last week. Great "old fashioned" service with tried and proven alignment equipment that's been around for decades. I'm totally satisfied with the services I received. I felt both welcomed and appreciated. I chose Clarence Brown because my dad used go there years ago. Plus it's in a convenient location. So, when I bought a new set of tires I made an appointment for 4-wheel alignment. After checking in, I waited in a small, comfy unit on the property that has couches and magazines. Unfortunately after 20 mins, the mechanic brought me out to tell me there was something wrong and show me what they had found. There was a problem with the front wheel bearing. They only charged me for the rear alignment while I decided how to address the problem. I appreciate their professionalism and honesty and would highly recommend them. read more

Just got the alignment done on my 1973 Mini Cooper and could not have been more pleased. My car could change lanes on its own, the alignment was so bad. Decided on Clarence Brown based on the San Diego Reddit recommendations. Saw on yelp that they had also worked on older cars since you never know what you could run into. Long story short, they gave me a heads up of the type of adjustments are available on there old cars (Luckily I had some aftermarket components which allowed them to make significant adjustments). They explained to me what they had to do before starting any work, as my wheels were too small for their machines (10" wheels). They test drove it twice to make sure it was as good as they could get it. Since my alignment was so off, they also tried to straighten out my steering wheel as well. Secondly, they didn't down play or dumb down any of the explanations to me even though I was a female. They told me technically what was wrong and when I said most of it flew over my head, they showed me a diagram and what they adjusted. Highly recommend them. Absolutely fantastic. Super nice people. Skilled technicians who understand alignments. They care about the job being done right. They talk to you about what they're seeing and doing to make sure you understand. My experience with many "alignment" shops is that they have some kid fresh out of tech school doing "POINT N SHOOT" alignments on a computerized rack. They don't actually understand the mechanics behind what they're doing, and they definitely don't really care about the outcome. The team at Clarence Brown are NOT that. They are qualified, experienced techs who actually know what they're doing. They do caster, camber, and toe adjustments correctly, and they have teh experience to know the subtleties of your car. A 4X4 truck that has a 2" lift might react very differently to 1 degree of positive camber than a clapped out Honda Civic with a loud muffler. They know what that difference is, and they can make tiny changes to make it perfect. They test drive it multiple times if necessary until it's right. They are willing to take the time to make it happen. Here's what they don't do. They don't fake you out with a bunch of nonsense about your suspension. They don't try to upsell you things you don't need. They don't overcharge you for the service. They don't lie cheat or scam. Literally every alignment I do will be here. Period. My alignment is utter perfection. The car drives perfectly. I have total confidence it's done right. Thanks the entire team! read more

My father who passed in 08 had a 40 car collection from 1955 chevys to 69 big block Camaros not to mention his personal daily drivers which were always Mercedes or BMW and a decade old, typically at the age where a full suspension overhaul was due. He told me not to go anywhere else and I've done so every time except for a couple that I went somewhere else that I highly regret. Long story short, I daily drive lot of bmws that are track capable (e36,e46 m3s and my competition e36 m3 turbo sedan race car) Not once was I dissatisfied. You tell them your needs and they nail it - keep in mind you will get a better outcome with the more tuning tools you provide (ie: camber plates, adj rear trailing arms or any upgrade that allows camber,caster, toe, to be adjusted more than oem but they'll def take a stock car and make it better. I have been going to Clarence Brown for over 40 years. My dad recommended them in the late 70s for my first car after I got a new set of tires. I've been using their service ever since. They will take care of anything in the front end that needs attention at a reasonable price. I brought in a 1966 Pontiac many years ago. They put it on the alignment rack, and found it to be in spec, so they didn't charge me a dime. I recently bought all new front suspension parts (A arms, ball joints, links, etc.) for my 2002 Tundra and I was going to replace them myself. I asked them to check a clunky sound before I got started. The truck needed new bushings in the steering unit and that required disassembly of the front end. They used all the new parts that I had already purchased elsewhere during reassembly. Good deal for me! I won't take a car anywhere else. read more

Lots of people will refer you to their favorite mechanic, and they'll tell you, "oh, those guys are great, they're very honest," or "they're really cheap." Well, sometimes you don't need "honest" or "cheap," you need SKILLS. I've had my Suburban to a couple different mechanics and neither of them knew how to do a basic alignment on it. That's right, a vehicle that's been in production since the 1930s. One replaced the entire control arm, the other did a ball joint, but neither knew HOW to do the alignment. I won't get into the secret of what Clarence Brown did, mainly because they haven't done it yet (I got an estimate from them for what REALLY needed to be done, and I'm going to have to bring it back at a time more convenient for me.) but suffice to say it's something that only a TRUE specialist would know. And yeah, they'll always recommend top shelf parts, and that's probably a good idea. Moog components, RedHead steering boxes, the best. But that doesn't mean you can't use OEM and save money if you want to. The main thing is, they know what the heck they're doing, and that's more important than anything. read more

Friendly and quick service! I scheduled an appointment to get my alignment checked, and it took an hour and a half. They have a waiting area available, but this shop is also very close to Mitsuwa and a Starbucks if you want to walk over there. The price was $120 to fix both my front and back alignment, but I believe it's only $50 for the front. If you pay using a credit card, there is a slight fee, so if you want to avoid that, you should come prepared with debit or cash. read more
