I am lucky to have known some of the staff of NuView for a few years now. The role they play in…read moregetting people sober is absolutely pivotal. Every staff member has a very thorough education in addiction and recovery. I'm talking book knowledge as well as years of (sometimes harrowing, often inspiring) experiences. They have an authentic passion for recovery. And they know what this kind of transformation should look like. The clinical staff at NuView possesses a diverse range of skills. These skill sets include pragmatic things like self-development training, which can help clients get jobs, write resumes, or even just manage their own money better. But they also teach important qualities like emotional intelligence, conflict management, and how to handle not wanting to get out of bed in the morning. These are important skills to learn after someone has stopped using drugs and alcohol. Why? Life gets hard when you can't rely on alcohol or drugs to make it SEEM good. So you need to do the hard work of MAKING your life better. At NuView's outpatient programs, they support and guide you through that process. Much of that involves group therapy and other kinds of counseling, including family therapy and one on one meetings. They locate your weak points and help you create a plan for dealing with them, always making sure you take it one step at a time. They also share their own knowledge with you. They know what addiction is from a medical perspective. And there's no reason why someone with an addiction shouldn't know that as well. Sometimes people don't know why they feel such a strong compulsion to drink or do drugs. The staff at NuView help clients realize that it's not some moral failure - it's a legitimate mental health condition with neurological, emotional, and interpersonal causes. And it can be treated. NuView is especially good at helping people who have a history of relapse or who have struggled with getting sober even after attending other rehabs. This is because they put more personal care into their treatment approaches than most other rehabs. Their treatment plans are generally customized for each individual client. This makes sense, since addiction is a pretty wide category, and it is not the same for everyone. Their outpatient programs provide a holistic approach to addiction. Clients have access to a safe and supportive community. They also get a social network of other people in recovery, so they can all grow together. You won't feel alone even for one minute throughout this process. For family members, they also put on many events and try to include them in the treatment process. Literally everyone gets a chance to heal and to work on themselves. If you're dealing with addiction now or if you just quit, it's time to treat yourself to a clean and sober life that's actually good. Why get sober and be miserable? At NuView, no matter how broken down you are, you WILL experience a transformation. Simple as that.

I have to admit, after reading some of the Yelp reviews, I was hesitant about bringing my dad to…read moreAlcott. A friend of mine had a good experience there with her mother, though, so we decided to give it a chance. I'm glad we did. My dad stayed at Alcott for about 4 months, and overall we had a very positive experience. The nurses, caregivers, PT, and OT staff were wonderful with him. They were patient, attentive, and genuinely caring toward my 90-year-old dad. Most importantly, he left much stronger and in much better physical condition than when he arrived. One thing that really stood out to me was how clean the facility was. There always seemed to be someone cleaning, and the staff truly tried their best to care for the residents. I know people complain about the food, but realistically it's hospital-style food, and they have to prepare meals that work for elderly residents with different health needs. We ended up bringing some of my dad's favorite foods whenever we visited, which helped. I also want to give a special thank you to Ms. Fern from Social Services. She was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the process of finding an assisted living facility for my dad, and she even followed up after his discharge to check on how he was doing. That meant a lot to our family. My dad was lucky and ended up having great roommates who looked out for each other, which was really sweet to see. Thank you to the entire Alcott team for taking care of my dad and helping our family through a difficult time.

I witnessed one of the nurses interacting with a patient in a particularly disrespectful manner. The patient is bedbound and simply asked the nurse to throw away a used tissue. Instead of helping, the nurse appeared annoyed, gave the patient attitude, and refused to assist. What concerned me most is that this happened right in front of me, as a family member. It makes me wonder how patients are being treated when their loved ones aren't there to witness what's happening. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, patience, and basic respect, especially when they are completely dependent on staff for their care. That same nurse also told me that I'm not allowed to give my family member an ice pack. If the patient were being checked on regularly and their needs were being addressed in a timely manner, I wouldn't feel the need to step in and help with basic comfort measures in the first place. Please check in and visit your loved ones regularly.

'Cautiously Optimistic'…read more I think that most anyone would see this place and immediately have a feeling that they want to get the hell out... right away. But, here is the 'but'... If you need to be taken care of especially long term, you need to have patience and have faith and see the qualities that really matter. Sure, the place needs to be painted and often smells of strange odors. Yet at the same time, the place is kept clean. The employees are courteous, patient, outgoing and treat people with dignity. They will bring meals to patients with a smile, chat and put them at ease. They will come in and joke around, they are welcoming and accommodating to visitors. And theyre on-time with meds. I have a close friend who has been at this place for one year now, and I visit almost every week, and I'm there about an hour each time. All Ive ever seen are employees, nurses, therapists and doctors who treat patients and visitors with care, compassion and lightheartedness. I have yet to see a case of abuse or neglect or disrespect. Sure, there are other patients who are in pain and suffering who are off kilter, but you cant blame that on the facility. Of course, no one ever plans on going to such a place, but if you end up there, chill out, count your blessings and focus on your own healing. YAY!

Employees be warned.

I searched for a Sober Living home or recovery house to get better and was turned off by the overcrouded rooms and the quality of people living there. I found Miracle Terrace and decided to check it out. It's a bit more than the other ones that I just couldn't picture myself living at but it was well worth it. The house is in prestine condition and single rooms are available. I got better and am now doing so well in everything from my business to just being a better friend, and family member to my loved ones. I also have a Mental Illness under controll and they offer help in that area which is so important for someone like myself. I highly recomend looking in to this recovery house for anyone serious about changing your life for the better and that doesn't want to live in an overcrouded home with unproductive people to live with. This place attracts the kind of clients that are a pleasure to be around and I have made some life long friends in the short time I lived here. Thanks Isac for changing my life for the better.
