When I first moved to LA, I was searching for a place near my home to take some painting classes. I came across BertaArt and read all of the amazing reviewed. Long story short, I find out we both live in the same building and Clara was just a short walk up the stairs to her beautiful loft/studio. Clara is warm, welcoming and incredibly talented. I have attended many of Clara's workshops and I come away with a completely new experience from each one. There are so many aspects of art and Clara has the knack of letting everything unfold according to what you want to see. This is MARVELOUS!!! I've bought couple of artworks in France before I moved to California with my family this year and I must say none of those paintings can stand Clara's. I just spent a rainy (in LA!) Friday night at Clara's DTLA studio/gallery for an extremely enjoyable pre-Valentine's Ladies Paint Night - an idea concocted in the class I attended a couple of weeks ago. Another student and I brought friends but, like at any good party, everyone clicked quickly, and chit-chat, cheese and wine flowed before the paint did. We began working by letting loose on a large canvas, each of us squeezing different colors as we pleased as we circled it together. We made a mess, but had fun doing it! Then, as always, Clara shared the inspiration for a number of her techniques and how she developed them into her own. We worked with textures, mixing colors, and strategically adding and taking away paint on the canvas. While things were drying, we played with charcoal in the style of an artist she's been studying. The evening was fun and very relaxing but energizing creatively. Everyone did something very different than the others and left the room with an interesting, colorful, abstract painting - a great reminder of a great night! read more

I attended Saturday 3 hour workshop and found it very inspiring and exciting. I brought back a couple of nice abstract paintings of my own to hang at my house. Clara is very open-minded, friendly, warm and very good at teaching this very difficult subject of abstract painting. She encouraged me to keep painting with multiple methods (hands, sponges, rollers, pallet knives etc) being focused on my emotion and imaginagion. Process was very intuitive, improvisational and spontaneous. It was one of a kind experience unlike other more traditional art schools. I highly recommend her class. read more

I live about 2 hours away from Clara's studio so I researched carefully to find a class which would fit my needs. I loved the class! I do not consider myself an artist but rather someone who is curious about what could be hiding in the depths of the right side of my brain. A few years ago, I discovered a new passion: painting and mixed media. Having a background in architecture and graphic design, I have been able to "walk alone" through the path of "self-learning", at least in the beginning stages. As the years passed by, I only found time to start a painting during each school summer break. I started to feel frustrated, because each piece took me too long, and at the end I lost the inspiration necessary to finish them with an acceptable result. This year, I decided to find a teacher who could inspire me and help me develop my abilities before the summer would end, so I could continue painting during the year without interruptions. It took me one class to find myself again inspired, and by the end of my third class, I could not stop the ideas flowing from my head. Clara is an amazing teacher, but even more important than that, she is an amazing human being. She helps her students, provides ideas and creates an atmosphere that is conducive to creating and expressing the students' inner self. read more
