DO NOT BOOK A BIRTHDAY PARTY AT CLAIRE'S WOODFIELD MALL. We booked by Daughter's 10th birthday party here for Sunday. They were supposed to open up an hour early for our party, and we arrived at 9:30am. This place straight up forgot about us. Nobody was there. My daughter was in tears on her birthday waiting to find out if she would have a party or not. The doors were locked until a random worker arrived at 10:45 to open up at their usual 11am time, and she still didn't actually let us into the store. She said something about calling someone and then disappeared inside the store, locking the gate behind her with 8 kids and their parents all standing around outside the store with no information. Clarie's has no way to call anyone to find out what is happening. The phone number on the website just rings the store phone, which isn't helpful when the store is empty. Corporate customer service is closed on weekends. We weren't given any contact info for a party planner or someone who would actually answer the phone. The mall said they had emergency contact information for the GM, but wouldn't use it because it wasn't an emergency. The woman who arrived to open the store wouldn't give me a number to call the GM or have the GM call me, but eventually let me talk to her (Eileen) from a store phone inside the store once they had opened up for business. Everyone was WAY more concerned about possibly bothering the GM than they were about making sure a little girl got her birthday party started. She eventually had her party and thankfully her friends were able to stay for it. It started so late that I had to leave to take my son to his basketball tournament, so I missed the party myself. read more

They have so many selections of jewelries, all of it has a fair and reasonable price, and worth to buy. They also have huge variety of accessories such as necklace, bracelets, earrings, and others. This Claire is so easy to find, it is located inside the Woodfield Mall, they are so near to other well-known stores around, and they are one of the most visited store inside the mall. They have so huge of selection of jewelries such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and others. All of the people their is working so fast and good. All of them are so friendly, nice, and attentive. They will greet you and give a big smile once you enter their place. Cashiers there were also fast workers you can checkout fast and easily. All of them are so kind. I worked for this location for a little over 6 months in June of 2018 to Feb 2019. If management is still doing things the same way, I can't imagine anything has gotten better since the pandemic. I write this not as a disgruntled employee, but as someone who went through quite a bit of trauma due to poor management at this location. Customers (who are mostly children and their parents) suffered because of the management style enacted here and that is mainly why I am writing this now. I was a part of management, and I got an inside look into just how this company allows their store to run. I don't have children, but when the time comes, I know I will never take them to this place. The employees are stressed out 24/7. They are overworked, underpaid, and not trained properly. Girls that work here are pressured to clock out and stay at work for hours effectively forfeiting their pay. They are expected to work ridiculous hours on very little sleep at times. The employees are fear mongered into doing what needs to get done. In my experience as a manager, this is never the way to do things. I say, if you can't afford the labor... then the job simply does not get done. This store runs like a labor camp at times and it's completely illegal and disheartening. The manager of this location gossips about her employees and then cries when she is found out. She literally weeps and tries to fix everything with free coffee. I found this disgustingly unprofessional of her and this was one of the primary reasons I left. I witnessed her speak ill of several of her colleagues and subordinates. Clearly this is something she is much too comfortable doing. After being hired on for only about a week, I was already on the floor piercing BABY EARS. My training consisted of watching a few videos AND THAT WAS IT. The first mistake I made was completely blamed on me and not their training practice. I was told that I was incompetent, which I now see is laughable. You can't expect people to learn what you don't even take the time to teach. This is one of the main reasons I would never bring a child here. THEY DO NOT EVEN TRAIN THEIR EAR PIERCERS. When there was an issue, I was not met with compassion. I was met with accusatory tones, write ups, and lectures about my behavior. Just to give some context, my father was battling cancer at the time, and I was his primary caregiver. There were times when this affected my schedule because he needed my help. I was not coordinated with, no one offered any understanding or resources offered through the company's HR department. My father's cancer was clearly an inconvenience to the store manager and she made that well known. My dealings with her were not kept private either. I was questioned by other coworkers who had no business knowing what had happened.6 I do not see how this manager in particular has remained in this position for so long. She does not know how to manage. At times, upper management and loss prevention added to this negative environment. It is not clear to me that they understand anything about people or how to effectively get the most out of a store team. It is never done with fear, not done well anyway. I have nothing ill to say of the district manager, who I met only once during the entirety of my employment. The culture at this store, and I can only assume company, is fear and immaturity. Management is strictly profit focused, which would be okay if they balanced it out with some social skills. The employees here are treated like they are dispensable and it's like a revolving door. They do not care about the needs of their staff. I urge consumers to not support this kind of business and more importantly the way that it is run. Do not shop here. Do not put your children at risk here. This company needs major reform and affecting their bottom line is the only way they'll notice they need change and actually make it happen. I'm really disappointed in this place. I took my 8 year old daughter with special needs to get ears pierced for her birthday on a Friday evening. I went to go clean her ears on Sunday morning and noticed one of the earrings fell out. Went back to the store and they refused to re-pierce her ears without the original earring!!! I even told the sales associate on Friday that the earrings felt loose and she said they had a lock on them. Well, apparently not!! This ear piercing was not cheap! It cost about $70 so I feel I should not have to pay again for something that wasn't done properly the first time. With all the money that I spend in their store for the cheap accessories for my daughters, they should be able to take the loss to keep loyal customers. read more

I'm a fan of Claire's. I've had to have my ears repierced here and they were great with scardey cat me. I come here to buy cute, cheap earrings sometimes and always come away with some I like. They have a perpetual sale on earrings - Buy 2, get 1 free. I always buy my faux diamond sterling silver studs here and they range from $14-$16 which isn't bad at all in my opinion. I know a lot of people think the only thing this store is good for is gearing up little girls with costume jewelry but I beg to differ. I've had four ear piercings here, never a problem (all in the lobe though. I don't reccomend getting a cartilage etc. here if they even do them...) Their ear cleaner is great stuff and works perfectly. As far as earrings go, they don't have the helix's I'm looking for BUT they have cutsey crap like turtles, butterflies and most importantly white gold earrings. It's all about the hypo allergenic-ness there which is great for people like me who are allergic to silver. Studs, hoops, and little gemstones are fine with me and doesn't look like I actually GOT them specifically at Claire's. Their white gold is CHEAP compared to what you can find it for everywhere else, and it passes for silver easily. Their online catalog sucks though. Absolutely pointless. read more

I had a really great experience when I visited Claire's to get my daughters ears pierced! 2 of the girls that helped me were awesome! One mentioned she was a manager, wish I could have got their names. My daughter is 6 months and I was contemplating for awhile on where to take her since many ppl will not pierce a babies ears but it is tradition in my culture. There was no judgement, they made sure we felt comfortable, gave us the time we needed, they put up with my perfectionist ways lol trying to get the piercing markings right. They sterilized everything, the part of the gun that touches your ear is sterilized and opened right in front of you. They then explain how to properly care for the piercings by showing you. My daughter did great and now has the prettiest little pink flower earrings . read more

I have not been in a Claire's in forever. However, I needed to get a ring "snuggie" so my new wedding ring would stop sliding around. JCPenney suggested Claire's. The snuggie I bought works great. I was taking a little peek around while in line. They have some cute stuff. I assumed it was only for teens but I could probably find some cool stuff here. I'm still a big fan of the cheapy costume jewelry shops in the city like So Good. They have the really funky, chunky pieces that I crave. -But I can see Claires having some fun stuff. I may have to spend more time and take another peek when I visit the mall again! read more

Would give ZERO stars if I could! GO AYWHERE ELSE TO GET YOUR EARS PIERCED! Claire's still charges a good price for the earrings ( I paid about $160) so go wher you can TRUST the person making a hole in your body. Went on August 2 to get two piercings on each year. Attended to by Betsy- clearly one of the MOST RUDE sales person I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS! Betsy was extremely disrespectful. Betsy had an extremely negative attitude. Betsy had such a poor attitude that I had absolutely no trust in her performing my piercings carefully and safely. For example, after she marked my ears, I requested that she let me put my original earrings back into my first hole, so that I can see that the two, new holes that she marked for my new piercings, were lined up - a logical request BEFORE 2 new holes are placed in each of my ears. Betsy actually told me that I did not need to do this and when I insisted she proceeded to argue with me and was very angry when I put my original earrings back in so as to see if the hole were lined up and not too close to one another. What was also troubling was that a little baby had her ears pierced after me and Betsy was just as rude to that little, precious thing, her mother and grandmotheras she was to me! I would STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT going to Claire's to get any piercings. After all, my 2 piercings were still over $150! Go somewhere where you are treated with respect and consequently also be able to trust the person who is piercing your ears. Why risk having someone with such a poor attitude possibly do a inferior piercing and possibly expose your body to infection?. read more

I'm only rating this one star because of my ear piercing experience. I had eight ear piercings all done at the Claire's in McHenry IL all done over a period of five years. There they made them all nice and even and no healing problems. Now going for number nine and ten. I also have five body and facial piercings that all healed well. I would never put blame on the person who does the piercing but in this case it was a clear case of laziness. The person who did my ears was a manager with red hair. She pierced my ears with the gun, yanked them when doing it, and made them horribly uneven. I had burning in my ears for days/weeks following then infection began and scar tissue developed. I ended up having to take them out because they never cleared up. Never has this happened with my years of getting pierced. Also, I always went to claires, for my ear piercings, never will I go there again. I recommend going to a REAL professional at a tattoo studio who actually knows what they are doing. Do not go here thinking it is cheaper, pay the extra and see a professional. read more

If you go here to get your ears pierced do not and I mean do NOT get them done by a staff worker named Betsy. She has horrible manners, she's rude, comes off judgmental, seemed annoyed with questions, came off like she didn't want to be there. Clair's can find someone way nicer to work for them. I've been going here since I was a little girl and never had a problem. She also wouldn't let me put my earrings in that I had since I was a baby in the first hole to see how it would look with the dots she marked for the double. When me and my friend were confused about the different solutions (1 helps the ears in just 2 weeks and the other takes longer by 2 months) she wouldn't explain it to us, as if we know exactly what she's talking about. Another customer had her baby, waiting to have her little girl get her ears pierced and the mom was confused what she was talking about as well. Love the store, horrible experience with that staff member, won't be going back for a while please improve some of your staff to make it more of a pleasant experience for me.
