I'm not quite sure what to make of Peacocks…read more On all the occasions I visit Clydebank Shopping Centre I get really excited at the prospect of shopping in here. Then I arrive, and can't understand why I was fussed. Peacocks display their best assets in the windows, but once you're in there it can be hard to find anything desirable. Clothes in here often look on the cheap side of cheap, especially their T Shirts. They often have silver writing scrawled all over them from a poorly executed T-shirt transfer, and they look like they're trying too hard to adhere to a trendy gimmick. In most instances, they fail to look "in fashion" entirely. Paul had mention the granny clothing in his review - I don't know why, but this part of the shop is always the most appealing to me. Their knitted clothing looks well made but the men's selection often falls short. It's always worth looking in here in case you find something, but I don't think after all my years of trying I ever have. The comparisons to Primark keep cropping up - not without reason, but for quality and value, Primark hits the mark while Peacocks wavers in its wake.

However, I must emphasise, it is much closer to the Primark end. It sells clothes and accessories at very cheap prices, although not as cheap as Primark and not as stylish either.

I'm hopefully going to get a last minute holiday with some friends next week and as such have been frantically looking for last minute holiday items. I was in Clydebank with my mum the other day and decided to pop into DP to see what they had. To my delight they had 20% off of everything in store, including sale items. Unfortunately, everyone and their Gran had been enticed in by this promise of bargain clothing and accessories and as such, the shop was absolutely stowed out. I could barely move, let alone browse the racks of clothing. To make matters worse it seemed as though their air con was on the blink and it was like shopping in a sauna - not the most pleasant experience, especially when other shoppers had clearly forgotten to pop on their Dove that morning. When I did pick up items that I liked they were full price items mixed in with all the sale items and try as I might I couldn't find anyone to ask to double check what their actual price was. When I finally found someone they were a bit dry with me and just said "NO, not in sale" and turned away. I decided to just leave as this was not going to be a fruitful shopping experience. On the way out I noticed a huddle of other shop assistants at the front of the shop just chatting away. No wonder the woman at the till had been dry with me - she was the only one doing any work!

Sadly, we would not recommend visiting the shop due to the following: Noisy music playing constantly. A member of staff walked through the shop with a hot curry ( the shop smelt of this for the duration of our visit). No seat for the the person accompanying me. Small changing rooms Tired carpets and a general 'seen better days' feel. I'm sorry to have to post this, but what was an exciting and special event in my life, I was so disappointed.

I've been here a couple of times but never been very inspired by any of the dresses here. I was looking for a dress for my school leavers dance and as I was only 17, I don't think they were sure what to show me, on the one hand I wanted something young and trendy but I also wanted to look classy and sophisticated. They came up with the worst dress I've ever seen in my life, it looked like The Little Mermaid meets Dita Von Teese, it was just bizarre. It had a long tail at the back but the actual dress itself was short with slits up each side. The colour was red with black fish net lace over it, it just looked awful. I honestly cannot think of anywhere that you could have worn that dress unless you were starring in the latest production of Chicago or some burlesque themed theatre show. At £275 it was designed for someone with more money than sense. I think it's still nice to have traditional boutiques such as this one and it does have a very classy feel about it when you go in, but with High Street shops such as Karen Millen and Coast selling gorgeous formal dresses which are a lot more modern and cheap compared to the prices here, I somehow feel that Catherines of Partick is left a bit redundant and is more suited to the mother of the bride look.
