Outstanding customer service!…read more Made a purchase but due to confusion was and sold the wrong item (headphones so normally no refund). 'No problem at all sir, we'll change that for you' No questions asked. All arranged and sorted out in a matter of hours. The range is great, they always have good offers, the service is excellent and the staff really know their stuff. I'd previously had to buy all my stuff from the London Bridge or Bloomsbury branches and then get it all back down. I found it amusing that they set up this branch about three doors down from the much more expensive Sevenoaks Hi-Fi, which you would only want to visit if you were seriously minted. About the only thing they don't really do is iPods, but if you're looking for CD players, amps, DVD players, speakers, TVs, headphones, racks etc, give Currys a miss and go here instead.

There used to be a shop in Brighton called Hannington's that was almost exactly the same as…read moreHooper's. Alas that became a victim of the redevelopment of that part of Brighton so if you're looking for a department store in Sussex then you can't do much better than head to Tunbridge Wells and visit Hoopers. It has everything you would expect in a department store including a well stocked Kitchen and glass department and a fine soft-furnishings department. The hooper's cafe is a good place to go for tea, coffee and a range of cakes or for lunch with sandwiches, jacket potatoes as well as a range of hot meals, all at reasonable prices. It is also fully licensed. It also has a great men's department, although this is outside the main building to the left in a little arcade, and the prices there seem a little higher than in the main store.

I'm not saying the town is a worse place for it - heaven knows where we'd be without a Maccy D outlet and fifteen mobile phone shops, but it's a rich irony in a town that HAS A BEAUTIFUL GEORGIAN PEDESTRIANISED PRECINCT AND AN OLD HIGH STREET FULL OF INTERESTING, INDEPENDENT RETAILERS that the masses go here instead. You don't know what you've got 'til you lose it.... That I've given the place one star at all is in recognition of the fantastic red outfits the poor Westfield staff have to wear. I'll have a pint of what the clothes designer was on!!! They are BRIGHT RED. Unbelievably crazy choice chaps!!!!

They sell lots of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, all in a unique style with very pretty designs that will make you look like the princess you are. Their bags are very nice and glam, the perfect accessory to match your dress. They also sell flower hair clips and dimante hair accessories including hair bands. In addition they sell umbrellas, underwear and sleepwear, shoes and have a childrens range. On the negative side they can be quite expensive at £6 for a hair clip. The bags themselves can be very pricey as well. They are very nice though and worth the money!

I found Stone Bridge through Google and was really impressed by the range that they do. You can search by your hair type. My hair is long, so finding claws and slides which I can fit all my hair in, is great. I have the lily claw which is really beautiful, it looks really realistic, I also have a real wooden hair slide, the grain is really pretty, I have small purple claw to put up a little bit of hair each side, and many more.. be warned! when you too, look at this website you may also be tempted to add to your collection of hair things. Chrissie Nicholson-Wild has been running her bespoke corsetry, bridal and tailoring business for…read moreover 10 years in Brighton. She used to be based above fabric land, but moved onto Duke Street a while back. The first thing i must say is that this is a high-end business that offers original designs akin to the tailors of old. You won't be buying anything off the peg and all projects will involve consultancy and be one of a kind items. Of course, this does mean that you will be set back a fair amount, but taking into account the quality and amazing aftercare service, it is well worth saving up for that dream item you have always thought about having made. I have had Curve Couture design and make a number of items for me over the years. The most ambitious being a full length leather coat inspired by the French movie 'Brotherhood of the Wolf'. For every project, Chrissie has provided excellent expert advise, enthusiasm and top quality garments. Alternative weddings dresses, fitted corsets and performance clothing are the main focus of the studio and the website displays a good range of the work produced. Generally, a deposit is taken and then paymetns may be made on completion of the work, or by installments. You wouldn't do all your shoppinng here (I wish I could), but I guarantee that anything you choose to get made from Curve Couture will be in your wardrobe for many years to come. I cannot recommend this seamstress enough!!!

Thanks for wrapping my stuff in tissue - it's great to get home and unwrap things, it's an extra treat :)

They stock everything from hair-bands and flurescent socks to ear-rings, bracelets, necklaces, scarves, hats and gloves. In summer they sell flip-flops too and in winter, their own take on converse sneakers. Rammed from dusk til dawn at weekends, Claire's is clearly a good money-spinner and they've dominated the marketplace by making sure they constantly introduce new lines. Last year, it was all skulls and guitars. Now, they have more plain but gothic designs alongside the usual pink and spangly ones. A word of warning to parents: individual items are cheap but once you start piling items into the little basket they give you at the entrance, you'll be surprised how much it adds upto!

Little girls like dressing up in cheap jewellery and coloured hair extensions, you say? Inconceivable. Anyway, this one's got all the usual stuff: plastic jewellery, hair ties, costumes (particularly fairy wings), scarves, boots, winter wear, and Claire's line of make-up, which includes nail polish. I noticed a few extras in this location: neon shoelaces, sunglasses, non-prescription regular frames, and ring watches! There's also some Hannah Montana and Winnie the Pooh items above and beyond the standard Hello Kitty and Sponge Bob. There's a few candy temptations near the counter: lollipops, bags of sweets and interestingly shaped Pez dispensers. This might be a better location to check out even though it's a bit smaller - no other shoppers came in whilst I looked around.

The shop keeper was actually doing paper mache right at the counter, which was a treat in itself. I tried to do it once, over a balloon. It's messy. Anyway, a lot of the arts and crafts were of simple materials, showing how skill can turn even basic things into art. Tissue paper garlands, hand painted envelopes and cards, a diorama and of course, paper mache creations were some of the unique items I haven't seen in any other gift boutiques recently...or ever. There was, indeed, some jewellery on display: brooches, necklaces and earrings. I definitely recommend checking out Rag and Bone for truly original home décor or gift ideas.

I step in the door and see immediately that although the style is excellent it somehow isn't as successful as it could be. The style is Victorian Gothic meets steampunk meets contemporary arts and crafts. They have some strange and interesting original art- paintings, sketches, sculptures made out of old dolls, jewellery and ephemera. They have some cool unusual pieces of jewellery, including steampunk cuff links and cuffs. There is also a wardrobe with some pieces of vintage clothing- a mix of sixties, forties and even a few thirties pieces. All cool stuff with a definitely desirable style but the problem for me is that there are too few items! Seems a strange criticism perhaps but the sparse stock doesn't seem to fit with this particular style of eccentricity- I was hoping for abundance and lots of things to grab my eye- instead I felt like it was a temporary shop with just a small amount of stock.
