It was relieving to not see people taking multiple sets of dumbbells and going off into a corner for 30 minutes or people sitting on machines and texting the whole time like at many other gyms. The contrast cold & hot plunge pools are great for recovery. The infrared sauna could be much hotter. I'd suggest putting full sized towels at the entrance to that area in addition to or instead of at the entrance of the locker rooms. My only two gripes with this gym is that every day of the 5 days I came it was way too warm and humid inside even though it was only 75 outside (felt hotter inside - not comfortable), and the music was pumping way too loud so much that I couldn't hear my own music on the treadmills. O and also at least 3 of the ~10 treadmills wobbled like crazy. Overall I'd recommend this gym for the mid 20s to early 50s fit-oriented clientele who likes to be around like minded people. I liked how many choices they had stocked for energy drinks, protein, drinks, and protein bars, and how organized it was. The cleaning crew was continually cleaning and kept the floors so clean that I didn't even feel weird walking around the locker rooms barefoot which I can't remember ever doing. Also the gym is in a great spot to walk over for lunch at some decent restaurants at the Coconut Grove walk / pier or whatever it's called. And the parking was very good each of the 5 days I went. I was able to quickly find even free spots. Shout out to one of the workers Elder for going above and beyond with courteous service and filling me in on happening things to do around town during my visit.

Had a fantastic time at OTF Tamiami a few weeks ago for my 8AM workout with Coach Dez! I was in…read moretown from Chicago for my cousin's wedding and decided to have my first out-of-state OTF experience about 2 miles from my hotel. I was about 30 minutes early and I was the first one there, and even caught the staff off guard because they had walked in maybe 30 seconds before I did. They took care of me fairly quickly; I just had to fill out a waiver since it was my first time at that studio. I was an idiot and forgot my water bottle at the hotel and my heart monitor in Chicago so I had to fork over $6 for a water and a monitor rental, but it's okay. Coach Dez came in a few minutes later and I was quickly introduced to her. She is very warm and friendly, and the energy just radiates off of her both in and out of the studio. She gave me a quick tour of the studio which was a lot bigger than my studio in Chicago. After that, I was just chilling until the class started at 8AM. I won't say much about the workout itself. OTF pulls from a variety of pre-existing workouts so I can't really factor that into my review, as that experience is likely to be consistent throughout all the OTFs you go to. However, I can't help but rave about Coach Dez. As I said earlier, she radiates this energy that was just fantastic and super motivating throughout the entire workout. There was never a dull moment in her voice and the smile never disappeared off of her face. She came up to individual people, including myself, making gentle corrections on form and led the workout with enthusiasm and grace. She also made a lot of small talk and silly jokes which I appreciated, as that break in format prevented the workout from sounding like a straight manufactured fitness video, which some OTF coaches do admittedly sound like. Overall, I had a great experience at OTF Tamiami and if I'm ever in the area again I will do my best to make it out to another class by Dez! Thanks to the staff for welcoming during my short time there!

Push is literally, without any exaggeration, one of the most valuable things to happen to me in my…read morelife. I have been training with them for seven (!) years, when I was still a grad student with limited disposable income. But I am so glad that I have invested - and grown - with them. Adriana (the owner) has curated an awesome space where folks of every fitness level are able to challenge themselves. The trainers (especially "OGs" like Ariel and Alvaro) demonstrate a level of passion in working with you that I've seen in few - if any - other gyms. There's a level of skill, professionalism, and maturity in their sessions that few other trainers seem to grasp. It explains the loyalty of their ever-growing clientele, which include not just hardcore "gym rats", but also college students, seniors, and regular working professionals. One of the great things about Push is the variety in trainer styles and personalities. Depending on what you look for in coaching, there is someone there for everyone. I would be remiss if I didn't comment on the complaints below about Ariel being "rude" and "condescending" to women. That is nonsense. Ariel is a straight-forward, extremely focused trainer who is constantly paying attention to your in-the-moment needs (form, capacity, etc.) as well as your long-term goals. The reality is your body is actually capable of slightly more than you think it is (which is one of the reasons to work with a trainer, no?). So yes, he will often encourage you to improve your form, or to increase your reps, based on his experience (and he will be to-the-point in that delivery). At the same time - and I cannot emphasize this more - you will never feel unsafe with him (or anyone). There have been many times that he has scaled back or modified my workouts before I even have to ask him to. Frankly, this is my preferred training style; I'm a direct/straightforward person and appreciate the same in others. But Push will always be able to provide you with the type of workout that best suits your needs (and actually encourages you to work with the trainers you respond to best). In short, 5 million stars for my gym family.

Kickboxing and boxing have always been something on my bucket list. I never got around to it for…read moreseveral reasons, time, school, work, etc. but after having gone through something quite harrowing and challenging , I though it was the perfect time to jump on the boxing bandwagon. Times are changing and people are becoming more unhinged and you have to be your own advocate as nobody else will. That being said... On my hunt for self-defense classes in Miami, I had come across a few options but weren't really what I was looking for. This Tapout location has been by my house for a few years now and I never thought to try it out until recently. I realized how crucial it is for women to be able to learn how to stand their ground and defend themselves especially if they encounter a threatening situation. Now, the classes aren't necessarily geared towards that but you will learn how to jab, cross, hook, and roundhouse which is sufficient for me. That being said, I took a free class to see if I would like it and I did! It was a Tapout Fusion class. They have different types of classes each with a different dynamic. So far I have taken Tapout Sweat, Tapout Fusion, Power Pilates, and Tapout Strong. Each class is set up differently. You don't spar with anyone. It's you against you and a large punching bag as well as pads set up along a wall. They also have other workout items like kettlebells, dumbbells, TRX bands, and Airdyne bikes. I have yet to try the bikes out but they look pretty cool. I have taken classes with two instructors, Kellie and Calvin and they are amazing. They don't make you feel out of place or intimidated in any way. They support you, guide you, and coach you through each set or movement. Also, they really know their stuff. I particularly enjoy Kellie's class because it's empowering to try a sport that's very male dominated...(yes women box too and they do UFC fighting and WWE)but it's not often you come across a female fighter. The only one I know or have heard of is Ronda Rousey so being taught and led by a female teacher knowledgeable in those techniques makes me feel like it's possible for me to be strong and hit just as hard as a man would. It's like the best kind of motivation. I'm all about women empowerment and am proud that I've taken steps to make myself and my body stronger. The gym itself is very clean. There is ample space to workout. They also sanitize everything after. You can rent boxing gloves if you need to though I recommend bringing your own. There are also lockers in the back as well as changing rooms. They are pretty diligent about getting you to come back after that first free class which is understandable. I worked at a gym and did sales myself briefly so the membership component and acquiring members is at the forefront and a goal of any operation that's built off of memberships. I was contacted several times via phone but I was a good lead lol because I genuinely planned on signing up. It was just a matter of time, work, and scheduling. I didn't want to sign up for something I would not have time for. What attracted me to signing up was the cost, the location, and my urge to learn self-defense and keep the momentum going that I acquired while taking classes at the other facility I went to for a bit. They have classes all day and each class is set up differently so it's not repetitive or boring. It's a new workout regimen every time so you can tell they plan out the classes well. Most Importantly, they make you feel welcomed. There are people of all shapes and sizes and levels. Me being a beginner I didn't know what to expect though after having an introduction to boxing at FDT, I kind of had an idea of what I was in for. There is something so satisfying about hitting a punching bag. I'm not a violent or aggressive person, but it just feels so empowering and is a big confidence booster and stress reliever. I highly encourage you to try it out for yourself. And it's nice they mix up the workouts with strength training and interval training...that it's not all about boxing. I'm still trying to get comfortable on the TRX bands because they can be tricky but I know they will benefit me in the long run. The trainers come up with cool, innovative ways to use them and they will guide you on how to use them effectively. All in all, signing up and working out at Tapout was a good move for me. I have met some really nice people, not their for an ego boost but actually just workout for the sake to workout out and better themselves and I've gotten stronger along the way so thank you Tapout. I'm glad I finally decided to stop by:)

The Good: 1.- Definitely having the flexibility schedule is the main benefit. Classes start every 10 minutes. 2.- The training programa are generally good. I like the idea of not having to think in advance the exercises for a workout. 3.- 40 minutes and you are all set. This is how long the classes last. The Not So Good 1.- I don't know if they vacuum the carpet daily, but it should be done more throughly. Most of the time after a floor exercise, I get up with hair over my body. 2.- During peak hours, sometimes they don't have enough towels. 3.- The staff is super nice, but I would like they being more active correcting exercises or posture. 4.- After training for two years, in some exercises, the weight is not challenging anymore. 5.- Cancellation process is slow. You cannot do it at the studio, you have to call to a phone number and they take their time to help you. In the end, I am cancelling because I feel like I am stalled. I would like to try something different and might come back in the future If I am able to keep my rate.
