I've been bringing my cars to them for four years. The work they've done has been good and I've never had a problem with anything they've done. The cars have always been ready when they promise. Just as importantly, they're absolutely honest. Several times they have not charged for things that they could have. Their diagnoses have always accurate, not padded. I know enough about cars (I've done things like engine rebuilds, clutches, strut rebuilds) to know when I'm getting BS. They explain what needs to be done and offer to show why. I have been a customer at CK Auto for a few years now. They were great for oil changes, tire patches, inspections. Recently my car was hitting bumps really hard and I took the car in to get looked at. I told them that I think its the rear struts but they insisted it was the tires so I replaced all the tires at their recommendation. After replacing the tires I thought the car was fine for a while until I got on the highway and heard a loud humming sound. I took the car back in to get looked at and they tell me that the sound is coming from the tires wearing uneven. Now im getting angry because I just replaced all the tires. He tells me that I have to REPLACE THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS to resolve it. I assumed that the new tires woul be covered by them for misdiagnosing the car in the first place. He tells me no the tires are not covered and on top of that they want another 243.00 just to flip my DAMAGED TIRES to make an attempt at reucing the tire damage. UNBELIEVABLE!! So not only do i have to buy shocks and struts that i suspected was the issue in the first place I have to pay for them to try and reduce the tire damage on my new tires. Needless to say I wont be going back but I hope this review helps others. I see there is another review of them doing the same thing to someone else. Good option for German cars right in S. Philly. If you have, or have ever owned and Audi, you know what maintaining them is about. They are finicky, alarm-proned, and expensive to repair...especially if you go the dealer route. Personally, I find it valuable to have a local shop to circumvent the dreaded dealership. CK is a good option in that regard. If you just need an oil change - and you need it done properly & on schedule - CK has you covered. It's about $130 for a synthetic change, including the usual "accoutrements". But, if you have a larger job, they can accommodate you, as well. I had to have one of the Mechtronics units in my A3's transmission replaced, and they did a fine job. It took longer than expected, but they remained in good contact, and the job was ultimately done correctly. At close to $3k, it was an expensive repair, but that is largely due to the cost of the part, not CK. I'm coming up on a year, and the mighty A3 has been running in fine form. To recap, good for small or large jobs. Convenient to S. Philly. And a great alternative to your (insert German car) dealership. Have a go! read more

While I was waiting for the job to be done, I walked around the block to get a cup of coffee. I noticed just how disrespectful this business is to people nearby who are walking. They leave cars on the sidewalk, along with their trash, and don't leave any room for pedestrians to walk around. The work they did was fine, but based on my experience, I can tell these people are bad neighbors and disrespectful to the surrounding neighborhood. I was a repeat customer and I wrote a glowing review earlier that I now want to retract. Just to be clear, I found CK Auto Image to be the best auto shop on Washington Ave. Their work is a little bit at a premium, but I knew that it would be done correctly. The issue is what they do with your car afterwards. They just park your car on any of the surrounding streets, and could be many blocks away. Once I found it blocked in and spent 30 minutes just trying to maneuver my car out. The last time I found that my car was scraped up because something had clearly driven into it. When I called to tell them that your car was damaged after they parked it, they really didn't care. They didn't return my phone call. They didn't respond to my email. It's really inconsistent with their service, but if your car is worse off after you pick it up, and they aren't concerned, then people need to know that this is a part of their business model. Some suggestions: 1) When you come to pick up your car, make them go get it and bring it back to the station. You shouldn't have to walk all over the place to find your car again. 2) When they bring the car back, walk around the entire car and inspect it before you leave (not that they will take accountability for any damage). 3) Consider a place that actually has as a part of their business keeping your car safe until you come to pick it up. I've so far had a very good experience with 11th Street Auto Repair, which has a safe lot out front where they will leave your car until you come to pick it up. read more

Listen, CK Auto Image is the place to go - the staff is extremely professional and knowledgeable about all things related to cars (I'm that annoying customer who asks way too many questions before and after they work on my car). For someone who hasn't been to this shop yet, you can tell their management is on point when you walk into a clean lobby (which smells good) and have a beautiful receptionist greet you at the desk. Her customer service is like something you'll see from a five star hotel - see for yourself. In regards to the mechanics at this shop, they are everything I could hope for. I had a few opportunities to speak with them and you can tell they're passionate about what they do. This is extremely important to me because there's a difference in service (whatever business it may be) between people who love their job and those who don't. I love this place because they are so nice and they always call to clearly explain what needs to be done before fixing anything and to get your approval to move forward. "Honest mechanic" seems like a contradiction in terms, but they do exist and they work at CK Auto Image. Friendly, polite, helpful staff gets you in and out. After doing some research I chose CK to change out the speakers and head unit on my car. I have a '99 Camry with the OEM cd/tape deck and speakers throughout. 1st I called and got a price quote for parts and labor to change out the entire system. The gentleman (I forgot his name) was extremely helpful and walked me through all the parts and labor expenses. He also informed me that I could purchase my own unit and speakers and have them install it. I chose the latter. I purchased some speakers and headunit off of Amazon. Went down for my appointment, sat there for about 2 hours and got my car done. Speakers sound great. The wait area was very nice: they even offered coffee. I read and watched TV for the time being and before I knew it my car was done. They took all the old parts and placed them in the box for the new speakers and put everything back in my trunk. Overall, I know exactly where I am going for any car audio related service. Lastly, I was not sure if I should get an amp for my speakers. Apparently, headunits are tremendously underpowered for the speakers. The associate, told me to drive around for a few months and see what I think of the sound as it stands. Should I feel that I needed louder, more crisp sounds, to come and consider getting an AMP. Thankfully, after following his advice, my speakers are just what I need w/out the need for an additional AMP. Overall, this place was great!!!! read more

Go to a suburban repair place if you want your car stored in a manicured, sanitized lot. City life has its drawbacks but I have never had an issue with my car being more than one block away. NO BIG DEAL! And they always offer to bring it to me, which I decline. It is unfortunate that someone hit the guy's car, but that could happen on any street and to hold Auto Image responsible for someone else's poor judgment and driving skills is so unfair. There is not one person at Auto Image who would want your car to be damaged, so although it is unfortunate, it is what it is when you deal with idiots who live and drive in Philadelphia. As a guy who would regularly do his own auto maintenance and any jobs that didn't require a lift, moving into the city and finding a reliable mechanic was a daunting task. That being said I don't think I could have found a better place to take my jeep. All their prices are very reasonable and every job is done in a timely manner. But the reason I continue to take the jeep here is because of their honesty. It is extremely rare to ask a mechanic to change differential and transfer case fluid and flush the radiator only to have them call you within a half hour saying that you don't need any of that. I point this out because they could have charged me for 2 out of 3 of these jobs and I would have had no idea if it was done or not. GO HERE. read more

They completed this within a few hours (I told them I was in no rush and I dropped off my car). They called and told me the inspection was complete and my car was ready for pick-up. Not a problem. (interestingly enough, because a few months earlier I went to a place in the far north east who tried to tell me i needed new tires only 5 months after having new once placed on). CK Auto Image mentioned nothing of the sort, showing me they are not here to grab your money, but give you an honest inspection. Even better, I was unable to pick my car up the same day so they found a legal spot and parked my car for me on the street just 2 blocks away! Just a quick update since it's been a couple of years since my original review. CK continues to provide capable, honest and prompt service. They have, almost without exception, been able to work on my car even when I call them in the late morning. Before they do any work, Katie calls to give a detailed explanation of the items requiring repair and the cost. They're never pushy about the work and I've never had them recommend work that was not necessary. More often the case, they've found that less work needed to be done and the cost was less than they had been quoted. The prices still seem quite reasonable. Still my go to place for auto service. Had a catastrophic brake issue occur at the tail end of an 8-hour drive from Michigan to Philadelphia arriving the evening of Friday before 4th of July weekend. CK was recommended by a local friend, so I called over and they told me to drop it off after 8am the next day (Saturday). I dropped off around 9am. Due to our tight schedule (we were supposed to head back to MI on Tuesday morning and were closed Sunday and Monday for the 4th) they prioritized our vehicle, had us diagnosed by 1pm and had all repair work done by 3pm that day. Price was totally reasonable. If I lived in Philly, I would never take my car anywhere else. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more

The person that installed it went out of business and most places didn't want to diagnose the problem, they just wanted to replace. John and his team were honest from the beginning saying it may be something they can fix or it may need to be replaced, but that they wouldn't know until they went in, and i'm glad they did.
