We went for a Sunday breakfast with a party of nine. Server was terrific. Food was just Ok. A couple of folks said their breakfast had come out barely warm. My sausage was over cooked/burnt. I could not believe the biscuits and gravy. I ordered a side of them. The biscuits were 1/2" thick and the gravy was like bacon grease. This place used to be pretty ggod. Current "chef" cooks the shit out of everything. So, if you're dying for a dried out hockey puck of a pork chop or a incinerated piece of beef resembling bad beef jerky - eat here. Good place to grab food in Stevensville - lots of options on the menu and the Eggs Benedict I ordered was cooked perfectly. The place was pretty crowded so I ordered from the bar and sat in the casino portion of the place. The drinks were expensive but the food fairly priced. The bartender brought me my food and was attentive. I would say the downside was the crowd and the overpriced beverages. Located in downtown Stevensville and parking wasn't a problem. I'll be back. Wow. This is a great cafe. It appears that everything is made in-house. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. This was not a prefab chicken. It was a HUGE hand-breaded breast. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and tomato basil soup. They were both BERY good. I was wishing I had ordered the soup instead of tater tots. Hey all you people writing reviews. Did you ever take into consideration the fact that every business is having a horrible time keeping open? They can't find people who want to work! Without help this place and many others would be closed. So when you complain try to be considerate and thankful you have a bar restaurant that is even open for service. CJ's has been a go to place when nothing else is open later in the evenings. They have had to shorten their hours of operation off and on because they can't find workers. Against my better judgement, I gave them a second chance. My daughter ordered bbq wings and I ordered the mushroom burger with bacon. It was a take out order. Wings were dry, hard and no sauce, burger was not cooked and no bacon. When we called to complain they gave us a new order of wings and a to go box with bacon. 2 days later I looked at my bank balance and saw that they charged me more than I was aware. They felt inclined to give themselves a $20 tip. I DID NOT LEAVE A TIP. They wrote it in themselves. Never EVER again!! read more

I got the mushroom burger and personally I was disappointed by the supreme lack of mushrooms. Good fries. I thought it was weird that you sit yourself because it takes a hot minute for them to fin where you're at but otherwise a decent place. Edit: when I asked to split the bill the waitress was rude to us and didn't acknowledge that we needed it to be split. She left us alone for a while before finally coming back and giving us our to go boxes and saying that she would split the bill(still with a rude attitude) thankfully it worked out in the end so hopefully she was just having a bad day. read more

I'm so done with this place. I ordered a salad with a simple request. NO TOMATOES. Sounds easy enough, right? Not for them. When it showed up, I was about half way through it when I came across three tomato seeds. Some of you may feel that this isn't such a big deal, but I do for two reasons. 1. Where to start, service is excellent, very friendly and warm. Appetizers show up quick, no shortage of cheese on the cheesy fries. I ordered the prime rib sandwich, fork tender, melt in your mouth delicious. Onion rings were delicious. The chili is also absolutely incredible. If you are in the area this is a must stop!!!!! Arrived about 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon, was seated and greeting warmly. There were 6 people in my party and there was probably 2-3 other tables already seated. We counted approximately 6 waitstaff - trying to figure out why we waited over 40 minutes for our food. we didnt order any complicated meal, and while the waitress checked on us a couple of times no mention was made to where our food was or when it mi9ght arrive. Anyway, when it finally got to our table everything was either cold or lukewarm...such a terrible disappointment after waiting so long. This was our 3rd time giving this place a chance ...... wont be back. Think the part of the problem is that there is such a lack of quality eating establishments in this area and a couple of brothers own several, so there islittle or no competition to keep the quality of service and food at a high standard. read more

I stayed "local" today versus heading into Missoula for lunch. This is my mini vacation from Arizona so I'm site seeing and trying all things Montana/Bitterroot! I just came from the local chocolatier (separate review) and post office... I asked both "where I could get a good burger"... Without hesitation they both suggested CJs. Hey, this lil town of Stevensville has a lot going for it, so don't think it has nothing... It has plenty. Back to CJs... I haven't had a fresh burger like this is a long time! Amazing. Beef? Or bison? No clue, but damn was it cooked to perfection and the fries.... Fresh! I will return. 3 separate areas; bar, dining room and mini casino. I sat in the bar. A friend and I went to CJ's today at 2:00 pm ish. We were asked by the waitress if we wanted something to drink? My friend said Pepsi. She said we only have coke products. Friend said Why did you change over? Both my friend and I are very friendly. That's why we were so perplexed about how we were treated. The waitress said we've always served Coke, our other restaurant down the street serves Pepsi (we found out CJ's did indeed serve Pepsi before). My friend hesitated and I said, do you want to go there? We chuckled. I only said it jokingly because it was the same owner. She gave us a fake grin and said, good, one less table for me to clean. We definitely knew she was not kidding. We just let it pass and ordered water. She cane back and put our waters on our table and I smiled and said, thank you. She then tossed the straws down and walked away. No, you're welcome, a return smile, just a pissy attitude. I looked at my friend and said how unprofessional that was. She said, do you want to go to Kodiak Jax (their other restaurant). I said sure. So we left. We had a very good meal at Kodiak served by a very nice waitress that has worked their for 17 years. There were only two other people at CJ's, so don't know why the waitress there was so grumpy. Since we never ate there, his review is completely on the service. No, we won't go back. This place is great! It's clean, the staff are all very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. It's a fun place to grab a beer and a burger! Love this place! We go to sit down and relax with the kids and have a nice meal. You could also go to the other side for drinks or try their casino. I am in love with the fish taco when it is on special! It's the best one I've ever had and so big I get to take some home for later. My husband loves the chicken fried steak and eggs with hashbrowns and the kids can't get enough of the amazing French fries and cheeseburgers! Very clean and comfortable place.
