We enjoyed everything we ordered. It was our first time and won't be the last. Our waiter was great, knowledgeable about the menu, made great suggestions, and was fun to speak with, after the meal the owner came and visited our table as well as other tables. The quaint setting was nice, we were in the bump-out room on the left. We met a nice couple who was celebrating their anniversary, they came from a distance and come every year. First but not last visit! We had a group of 12 couples here for dinner on a Friday night and when all things were said and done, three things stood out: 1. Atmosphere. This is a great place for an intimate dinner. Located in the country, you could not ask for a more quiet location. The layout is special. It is like a sweet country home where you would go to visit your grandparents. It has an inviting outside deck dining area and a warm down-home feel inside. 2. Service. We were greeted with lots of smiles to include the owner who also greeted us as he worked the open grill. We were given a private room for our party and Jackie was our friendly server. Amazingly, Jackie was able to serve all of us promptly and with a smile. Our food was served hot and drinks were kept filled. The other areas in the restaurant seemed to have more than adequate staffing as well. 3. Food quality. Everyone in our group, and I do mean everyone, raved about their appetizers and meals. I have been here twice now. Excellent food both times. Gotta drive a ways to get there, and service can be spotty, but don't give up. Just head out there and enjoy! I recommend making a reservation. Be on the lookout for the specials posted on Facebook. The outdoor seating at night is beautiful with the twinkle lights. Let's see...I've had the fillet and chicken and pancetta fettuccine. I recommend it all. And the fried cheese. The breading is light and crispy. The house Italian is spot on, but all their dressings are homemade. We had a 6:30 reservation for our anniversary. The restaurant is about a 30 minute drive from home. We arrived and stood in a makeshift bar area for 20 minutes or more being ignored by the staff. Unless you're a regular you are not wanted here. We watched people walk in after 20 minutes plus waiting and they were seated IMMEDIATELY. The irony is that we are Hurricane Helene volunteers, and I would be willing to bet the farm that none of their regulars has lifted a finger for the hurricane victims. The irony is palpable. We tried it for the first time tonight and loved it. The drive there was beautiful. A downpour ensued right as we drove in, but the owners were very accommodating to make sure everyone's was taken care of. We started with fried cheese and also the goat cheese bruschetta. There are no pictures because we ate it too fast. We ordered the blackened ribeye special which included soup salad, and a side. The salad was so fresh . I've been hearing about this place for years!! Was finally in the area on an evening they were open .... It's a drive to the middle of no where but so worth the trip!! We did not have a reservation (asked first thing when we walked through the door ) but the young woman working at the front allowed us to sit at the bar and she waited on us ..... she was the best thing about the place!! Sweet smile and a superb attitude!! (She was actually the owner's daughter and just helping out for the night) ... I had the sirloin and creamed spinach.... Delicious!! The steak was cooked perfectly and needed nothing!! I had the soup special chicken gnocchi! It was amazing!! .... I personally haven't been to the restaurant in many years. However, my sister made reservations for the family to dine on a Saturday evening. We arrived a little early and had to wait several minutes, but it was worth it. The staff provided excellent service. Our meals were served hot and fresh. I enjoyed the blackened chicken. The homemade broccoli cheese soup was delicious. For those interested in a unique dining experience at an off the beaten path location, CJ Papadops is the place. I highly recommend getting reservations. Also, know how to get there and allow time for the distance and country roads to a very remote location. We went here on a suggestion of one of my coworkers. As we were approaching, we passed the Briarwood Safari Park and saw a peacock on the side of the road! We made a reservation for 7, and we were seated by 7:10. The food was fantastic. We ordered the beef medallions and a ribeye, with Greek potatoes and the potato patch as our sides. All of the food was very good, and cooked perfectly. The soup we ordered, chicken gnocchi, was my favorite thing they had. I got an extra bowl. The food was great, but the service was even better. Our waitress, Chelsea, did an awesome job of suggesting her favorite things and taking great care of us. We haven't been to Papadops since Tim Ogle has taken over the restaurant. A lot of the old favorites are still on the menu . A lot of us remember the steaks ( 4 oz filet & 4 oz grilled shrimp at 28.95). I remember the potato patch, skillet potatoes , and the bean soup. They are perfectly prepared line the original. I had grilled salmon on wild rice with green beans, Greek salad and the bean soup. 18.95 and it was wonderful. Diane had the grilled shrimp with grilled tomato slices, mushrooms over angel hair pasta. Another 18.95 dish. Diane could not eat her serving, so we will save it for lunch. This was a surprise! Beautiful drive to get to the restaurant. Went early thinking it wouldn't be crowded. Wrong! Definitely get a reservation and sit outside if possible. Inside is VERY noisy. Couldn't have a conversation noisy. They do not serve alcohol but you can bring your own and they will provide glasses and setups. The food was excellent. My husband had a steak cooked perfectly. And my son had a burger and rated it one of the best he's had. Not many vegetarian healthy options so my choices were basically nil unless I had fried mushrooms, a house or Greek salad or sides. I had the shrimp Salonika (not vegetarian I know but was not wanting another salad) I was not thrilled it was swimming in olive oil and /or butter. Not many mushrooms or tomatoes - lots of pasta! Their salads did look delicious and next time I will be ordering the Greek salad. They were super busy so service was a bit slow to be expected but the server was very sweet. My wife and I were visiting my Mom and Dad from Colorado and they took us to eat here on 10-24. The setting for this restaurant was breathtaking in itself. We were seated promptly out on the patio were you can see the nearby hills and wonderful fall colors. We ordered the appetizer Kopse Paine with olive oil , capers , tomatoes, garlic and lemon juice that was tremendously flavorful. My parents ordered deep fried mushrooms that were good as well. My wife ordered the ribeye steak and a potato patch side and salad. She said the steak was very good and perfectly cooked. The potato patch was a fried potato cake made with cheese and bacon, egg and topped with tomatoes, chives and sour cream. I could have made a meal out of it alone! I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, salad and Grecian bean soup. The spaghetti and meatballs were by far the best I have ever had. The meatballs were slightly spicy and tender.....perfect! The spaghetti and sauce were a combination of tomato and pasta goodness. My soup and salad were equally as tasty. My parents had the seafood pasta special that was linguine with scallops and shrimp. The said it was very delicious. Portions are large here so you won't leave hungry or you'll have leftovers for lunch the next day. The service is great here and extremely nice! It's been many years since we had eaten at CJ Popadop's and we didn't realize they had reopened. But I'm glad we found them again. We went on a Friday night with another couple. Service was fantastic. Eli took excellent care of us. We started with fried mushrooms and fried pepper jack cheese. Both were delicious. I had the ribeye which came with soup, salad and side. Steak was perfectly prepared and very flavorful. Soup was delicious.. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs which also came with soup and salad. Also delicious. We had a party of two with 7:30 reservations. We were sat at about 7:40 pm and did not see a server til after 8. At this point we went to hostess to get a server. Paige showed up about 5 min later with an attitude! We ordered drinks, apps and entrees at that time. We got drinks about 10 mins later. At 8:30 a party was sat behind us, 11 mins later they had drinks and an app. I was done!! I paid for the drinks and got out of there!!! I would never go there if there a a great number of cars there! Best filet mignon I've ever eaten! So much love goes into this place, it has to be good! She loves her customers like she loves her family. The owner/cook makes everything from scratch and only uses the best ingredients and meats. Originally from Cyprus, she adds a Mediterranean touch to her menu that will tickle your tastebuds. Horrible experience here. I had a friend tell me the place was great and I really wanted it to be great but everything went wrong. Paula and I arrived here about 7:30 and were sat immediately and we waited about 10 minutes and then the woman that sat us asked if we had been waited on and we said no so she took our drink order and we also ordered one of the potato cake appetizers. She came back 5 minutes later and asked us what we had told her we wanted to drink because she forgot. We got our drinks and the appetizer shortly there after. We finished the appetizer which was pretty good and then proceeded to wait about 15 to 20 minutes and then we finally saw the hostess ask the waitress if she had waited on us. She told the hostess she hadn't even talked to us. So she comes over and apologizes and says she just started and hadn't learned everything yet. So I order the filet cooked medium with fries. It comes with bean soup and a salad and I told her no tomato on the salad and honey mustard for the dressing. Paula orders the ribeye with fries and tells her no onion on her salad and also got the honey mustard dressing. 10 minutes go by and she brings out the bean soup. Paula takes a bite and says the soup is cold. She catches the waitress walking by and asked her if it is supposed to be cold. The waitress says no, apologizes and takes the soup back. 10 more minutes go by and she brings us fresh soup and it was now hot and tasted pretty good. 10 more minutes go by and she brings 2 salads both with tomato and onions and ranch dressing. Paula tells her we ordered honey mustard and I told her that Paula had ordered no onion. She says those salads must have been for another table. After a few minutes she brings our salads and both have onion and tomato but they have honey mustard dressing so we decide to just eat it. Well if you take the onion and tomato away there is nothing left but lettuce and dressing. Both of us barely ate any of the salads and just decided to wait for our steaks. 30 minutes later they finally bring out our steaks and the waitress asks who had the filet. I said I did and she sets the ribeye in front of me. I told her that is the ribeye and hand it to Paula and then the waitress sets the filet down in front of me. I started eating it and this thing was completely charred black on the outside and every bite was different on the inside. One bite would be totally grey colored and over cooked and the next bite would be red and juicy and the next bite would be pink. Totally ruined the filet in my opinion. Paula had ordered her steak medium well and it seemed to be pretty close to that. She asked for some ketchup and some A1 and after waiting about 5 minutes she finally got up and took the ketchup off the table next to us and a few minutes later the waitress brings her a small plastic cup of A1 because we apparently can't be trusted with a whole bottle of this sacred liquid. By this time I'm really just bummed out that our date night has been wasted here for 2 hours. Paula tells the waitress we are ready for the check and she brings it out and it's $67.00! What a rip off. I know it was probably the waitress's first day but they sure didn't try to help her any and she didn't cook the food either so needless to say we won't be going back anytime soon. read more
