I was getting a Poor Boy sandwich from my favorite sandwich shop, Terrace Market. My brother and I decided we should get at least one taco to try. I ordered a regular Al Pastor taco and my brother got a carne asada taco. It comes with two street taco size tortillas, meat, onions, cilantro and we asked for mild sauce. There is enough meat to make two tacos so I split the meat and had two tacos. The Al pastor had good flavor and the overall taco was good. The meat was not as moist as I like but it was good. My brother said his carne asada had good flavor too. My brother and I both liked the tacos and will be back to try some of the other dishes. It looks like a family run business. I went right to Ciudad Azteca Taqueria to check it out. It's a Family Owned Hole In the Wall Restaurant!!!! The Owner is very Friendly!!!! The Decor is very Cool!!! It Centers around the Owners Father love of Classic Low Rider Vehicles!!! I ordered a Carne Asada Super Burrito to go !!!! Paid by Credit Card! My Super Burrito was made Freshly right in front of me!!! And it was Definitely Super Burrito sized in Length and Girth!!! When I got home it was well Wrapped and still Hot to the touch!!! Stumbled upon this hidden gem while grabbing a sandwich at the Deli Nextdoor. We gave it a try the following week and has now become a weekly stop for my Dad and I. The food is so fresh and authentic, I feel like I'm eating at my families home. We have tried the tacos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, shrimp quesadillas and Caldo de res. We were in the area for something else and this was the only food place within walking distance so we decided to give it a try. The place is small with about 8-10 seats but even for a Saturday lunch time it was pretty empty. We ordered a super taco and guacamole and chips. The super taco was probably the worst taco I've had in a looooong time. It was bland, soggy and basically just sour cream. I had 1 bite and could not stomach any more. It tasted of nothing with a blob of sour cream on top. The guacamole and chips were just as bad as the taco. It was not guacamole, it was a cilantro SAUCE with a hint of guacamole. It was so soupy I had to ask the cashier if I had ordered salsa or guacamole and she said that was their guacamole... it tasted like absolutely nothing, I had to ask for salt and like to try to salvage it but it didn't do much. All in all I would never come back and this was some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had in my life but the cashier was really nice and friendly and that's why I gave them 2 stars. read more

I had made a To Go order for their special of the day, Caldo De Res (beef soup), & it was some of the best I have tried. The broth was so flavorful & was filled with plenty of vegetables & tender chunks of meat. I also ordered my son their extra large super burrito (which comes with two meats) & he was taken back by the size. He ate half & saved the other half for the next day. Another visit I ordered To Go their Saturday special of Menudo. Again a great choice. I will definately be coming back for more. They offered me curbside service when I called to ask for it due to me having mobility issues & they happily obliged. Came in for some tacos i ordered 4 with rice and beans on the side, the plate looked good but rice was not good beans were not gud no flavor at all on both items..... now the tacos no flavor at all and dry as hell the red lil sauce was spicy but not good.... Idk if this place dont use seasoning but damn!!! Asada dry as fuk and juz wasnt hood and i paid $23 and some change?? Sheesh! Wouldnt recommend ordering the tacos.... I moved to the neighborhood three years ago and never tried . Therefore , one day after taking a scroll decided to try. The restaurant doesn't look too appealing and upon walking in I don't see any cooking . Found this place after taking my car in to get a wash. I ordered food to go as the place was not open for dine-in anyway. I ordered a super hurrache and enchiladas verdes plate which came with rice and beans to try out. Both were good, but I'm not sure if it was enough for me to want to come back unless I were already in the area. Oh man, I am so mad at myself. I have lived down the street from Ciudad Azteca for 5.5 years and only first tried it today. What a mistake --- I have missed out on this delicious food for the last 5.5 years!!!! I have driven and walked past here so many times but recently was reccomended to try it. I love Mexican food, and a good taqueria walking distance from my house is pretty much the dream. I was craving tacos today and decided to order a carnitas taco, a shrimp taco, and a fish taco. I placed my order online directly through their website, and picked up 15 mins later. The tacos were SO GOOD. Tons of good sized shrimp, lightly battered and perfectly crispy fish, super flavorful and tender carnitas, all topped with complementary toppings. They were quite good portions too---3 tacos was PLENTY for me, if I were a bit less hungry even 2 would have been good. The salsas were super tasty too--the red is VERY spicy (which I like, but if you don't like too much spice, use with caution!), the green much more mild (and perfect on the seafood tacos). They don't just have tacos--burritos, enchiladas, chile relleno, quesadillas, etc are all on their menu too. My only regret here is waiting so long to try them. I will for sure be back! read more

**TAKE OUT TACOS ONLY** Couple of days ago I was buying deli sammies next door when I saw this place. I decided that at $2 a taco, I was going to give them a try. I would like to preface this by saying the lady who helped me was WONDERFUL. She gave great customer service and answered all my questions. I ordered 5 tacos - 2 carnitas, 1 pollo asada, 1 carne asada, 1 al pastor. I asked for no salsa on any of them, but to put it on the side because I wanted to taste the flavor of the meats. I'd previously read prior reviews stating the meat was bland so I wanted to see for myself. I can honestly say that sadly, it was true. All 5 of those tacos tasted the same. Had I not known what I personally ordered, I wouldnt be able to tell the difference. I then had to put salsa and lime on all the tacos just for them to have flavor. Everyone knows that a good taco wont need salsa if the flavors are there. The salsa is to enhance the flavor of the taco. I may give them another try somewhere down the line, but as for right now, I'm still on the hunt for a good flavorful taco in the area.. read more

I'd have tacos any day, but what's better than $1 Taco Tuesdays?! I'm so glad my friend recommended we grab dinner here since you just don't find these kind of cheap, authentic tacos in the bay area. I decided to try every kind of meat on the menu, so got 4 tacos. Carne Asada (Grilled Steak) has always been an all-time favorite, so tasty but a bit too charred on some pieces. The Pollo (Chicken) and Carnitas (Boiled Pork) was good, but a-okay. It was the Carnitas (Marinated Pork) that surprised me the most with its flavors --definitely a must here! The tacos here are pretty simple with a single tortilla, onion, cilantro, and salsa for their basic dollar tacos, but what more do you really need? They do offer a mild and a hot salsa, which typical me chose hot. In any case, their hot salsa is truly spicy with a real kick to it --so fair warning. My Husband loves this restaurant but I wasn't a big fan at first. I'd always order chicken and thought it was rather bland. Until I tried their carne asada burritos which was a gateway to their tortas which are excellent! My favorites are the carne asada torta and the chicken Milanese torta. Wow I am surprised how good this taco spot in San Leandro is (coming from oakland: land of taco trucks and Mexican restaurants galore). I'd definitely rate this as one of my top 5 best taco places We came and ordered 10 tacos and a super salad to go. It was around 7pm and they only had enough al pastor for my salad. And for that I'm glad because I got to try their carnitas (which I usually don't like because i find it dry and bland) but Ciudad Azteca makes it differently! Cubed and perfectly seasoned. And where can you find tacos for $1.50 these days?! They have them for $1 on Taco Tuesdays. The difference is on Tuesdays they are single tortilla, a little less meat, and cannot be ordered with salsa on the side. Warning: their spicy sauce packs HEAT Minus a star because I didn't really like the salad, it had large slices of tomatoes and avocado. Would have preferred pico de gallo for more flavor. Great place for Taco Tuesdays, especially because it's $1 tacos all day! I tried a variety of their Carne Asada, Chicken, El Pastor and Carnitas tacos. They were all juicy and very flavorful. Good sized proportions. I got the mild sauce, but will opt for the picante next time. They don't offer pico de gallo for their $1 tacos, which was a bummer, but it still tasted delicious. I also wish they had fresh juices or horchata, but they do offer soda and other bottled juices. Will definitely recommend this place for a quick and tasty meal.
