Alls I wanted was a quote for a chimney cleaning. They came out to the house, and as they were looking in the chimney, I went into the bathroom. I came out and they said - you owe me $150 for an inspection. I said you were only to give me a quote for a cleaning only. He said well since you are selling your house, by law I had to do an inspection. If you want it cleaned that will be another $200. He walked out with $350 and told me - the company will send you the inspection. Never received a proper inspection, just a receipt basically. read more

Stay AWAY from Cityline Chimney. Scam artists. They have multiple locations throughout the states. I live in Minnesota and had "inspection" of my chimney done after we closed on our first home. A time that is suppose to be happy and celebrated. The guys had me in tears with the results of said inspection. Fortunate that I was able to realize before I agreed to service. I contacted City Line for a chimney sweep and explained the job. I wanted a simple sweep of my steel lined chimney. I explained I wanted the cap removed, the liner swept and ashes vacuumed. They told me it would be $69. I re-affirmed the cost as $69 for the work and was assured this would be the price. When they got to my house, they told me it would be $300. I told them no way and did not use them. I would not use a company who is dishonest and wants to increase the price when they get onsite. read more

I couldn't be more disappointed. I contacted CityLine Chimney for routine fireplace maintenance, but they subcontracted the job to Coolerado Pro--and it's been a nightmare ever since. The technician arrived and said the unit just needed cleaning. He ran a shop vac inside but didn't bother wiping anything else down, didn't clean the glass, and charged me $299. On top of that, he took all the logs out and put them back incorrectly, so the fire no longer worked. He even left the screen off, saying it "looked better" that way. When I called to have someone come back and fix the log arrangement, they sent a technician who made things worse--he couldn't get the fireplace back together, stripped two screws, broke another, and left the glass wide open. We were promised the manager would come out to resolve everything, but they no-showed. Since then, I've called several times, and all I've been told is that "someone will call you," but no one has followed up. Save yourself the money and headache--stay far away from Coolerado Pro and CityLine Chimney. I'm now out $299 and stuck hiring another company to fix the mess they left behind. read more

Then they tried to pressure us by offering half off the second job if we committed right then and there. I requested an inspection and sweeping of two chimneys. The inspection consisted of the serviceman shining a flashlight up the chimney from the fireplaces -- no camera. When, I asked if he was going to inspect the chimney caps, he replied that he didn't have a ladder because I had not specified that it was a two-storied house. (I did state that it was a townhome.) As reported by other reviewers, the price for the cleanings was inflated, much higher than the original stated price. The technician did put down plastic to contain the ashes and soot. The chimney was swept, the fireplace was vacuumed, but nothing was thoroughly cleaning. One of the chimneys is not drafting well. He said he would send an estimate for a circulating fan, but he never did -- not that I have any plans to employ this company again. read more

Do not use City Line. I got a ten second peep at my chimney with a cell phone light from a tech for $69. Then , the tech gave an immediate basic cleaning for almost $500. Oh and the tech arrived in a work vehicle with another business name. Not trustworthy, even after several texts and calls to report this experience. read more

Cityline sent out a contractor of some sort when we were in need of an emergence service with a blocked hvac flue. The guy showed up in a sedan with no ladder and I could barely understand him. He charged me the quoted $49 but never really looked at anything but inside the house by the water heater. He took nothing apart and didn't even look in the flue. Also, this contractor took payment via Venmo, not the most professional approach. Basically I paid $49 for a guy to meet me and do nothing, then he said he would send me a quote for a new liner for the flue, never received anything from them. I would not use this service again nor recommend to anyone else. read more

This company is a complete joke. Avoid CityLine at all costs. We hired them to clean our chimney. They subcontracted the job to a person who caused a massive leak in our roof after "sealing" our chimney flashing. He charged us $1085 for cleaning the chimney and repairing the sealant. He used extremely cheap materials. Now after countless calls, voicemails, and emails, they are both unreachable. The only recourse we have is small claims court. Called Cityline Chimney for a quote to sweep our chimney, had a prompt return call and ask for a quote for a two story chimney. They said it would be approx $99.00 but could be higher depending on the condition. I said I understand that they could not give a firm quote without a visual inspection. I booked the appointment with the understanding that after their assessment to give me price quote before any work was preformed. The technician arrived, then ask me for plastic bags for his feet when I insisted that he remove his shoes before entering our home. He spent less than 3 minutes with a flaslight to look up our chimney, there was no roof inspection. He said the cost would be $600.00...I said "what" ...we have our chimney sweep on regualr basis and the cost is 1/3 this amount. I was blunt and said "GET OUT" he replied "What is your budget?" and I replied "I don't play "Let's Make a Deal" Please leave. This was an amazing experience. First thing they did was ask for a trash bag. That was actually the height of their professionalism, it was all down hill from there. They did climb up on the roof. They said the cleaning would be $475. They had no drop cloths or shoe covers. They put a bath towel on the floor and duct taped a ragged tarp to the brick. They intended to clean the chimney from the bottom using an electric drill. My wife asked them to leave, they continued to work. She had to leave the room and asked them to step outside, she was uncomfortable leaving them unattended. The reply was that she "shamed them". He did state that she was her mother's age. She took a picture of them, they said that it was against the law and that she needed to delete the picture. Attached is a picture with the guy holding up his hand to hide his face. Note the tarp, lack of shoe covers. Look closely and you'll see the towel on the floor. The rug was rolled back after my wife told them to. She got them out after agreeing to pay the $69 service fee. They wanted another $99 for vacuuming the firebox. The invoice stated it was from A-Z Chimney Sweep. I called the number for Cityline and asked if they sent these clowns. The first time the call was disconnected. The next time I got an answer stating they would check it out and call back. Crickets . . . We'll call the bank and refuse the charge. These are not local, they are nationwide with a nice website. the research I did had nice reviews. Sadly I can't find the website where I saw the reviews. I only gave them one star since I cannot leave ZERO stars. The 'tech' showed up as promised. He walked to the fireplace and looked in the firebox and up the chimney. "Looks good" he said. He went outside and climed the ladder to inspect the roof area around the chimney. Came back inside said it looks good, can I use the bathroom. I said sure. He came out I said do you take credit card for payment. He said yes but there is a surcharge.... No mention of this when I booked the inspection. I said here is a check. I asked for a receipt. CityLine Chimney in Sacramento sent out 3 contractors over a 3 week period. The "real" subcontractor technician on the last visit properly diagnosed the issue as electrical and informed us that the work done that day would likely be a temporary fix. The gas fireplace stopped working 5 days later. The office is still charging us over $700 for 3 visits, diagnosis and labor cleaning out pilot light/wires for a still broken fireplace. They never provided an estimate for the work being done by the last technician, only a bill and repeat phone calls for payment. read more

Scam. Bogus google reviews. They charged 600+ for cleaning and inspection. I knew something was fishy immediately after. There was no report. No one went outside to inspect the chimney cap. They just cleaned the chimney and filled in a couple cracks in mortar for 600 total. I took a look at prior sweeps I used and they all included reports, actually went outside, and cleaned for 180-200. Buyer Beware. Im going to also report to BBB. I demand a $400 refund. read more

I told him $299 was unreasonable, he asked what would be reasonable. The Tech is a contractor. He didn't know how to disassemble the fireplace insert and it wasn't even cleaned well. I wish I could negative for this company. called for our gas fireplace; confirmed they would work on it and scheduled a call. Tech came out as promised, sat on FaceTime with his "boss", ran to Home Depot and got some compressed air and steel wool. Informed it needed a 'deep cleaning' and it will fix the problem. Concerned, I asked if the cleaning doesn't fix the problem, then what? Tech informed me that the cleaning fee would be refunded or not charged. Great, tech proceeded and I paid. Went to turn on the fireplace later that evening, still not fixed. Called again and they came out a week later, sprayed some air and tried charging again! Told him I'm not paying and he left. Well went to turn it...again, STILL not working. Called a third time and they came out a well before Christmas. Tech finally looked at me and told me they can't fix it and left. All during this time, my husband has been trying to get ahold of someone to get our $479 cleaning fee refunded as discussed. Their "supervisor" Lydia should seriously consider a non-customer focused role. Proceeded to dodge every call only to tell us, "We're not doing anything for you". I called city line Chimney because I had an issue with my gas fireplace. I was skeptical because I thought they did more Chimney work but everything online said they also worked on gas fireplaces. I got an appointment set up. A gentleman came out in a minivan with no tools sat on FaceTime with another person for quite a while. then he had to leave to go get some compressed air and wool. They determined that the Fireplace needed a cleaning and told me it would be $470 for the cleaning on top of the trip charge. I asked them if the cleaning does not fix the problem which I was sure it wasn't going to because I had already cleaned it, but would give them the benefit of the doubt. They told me that they would not charge me for the cleaning if it did not fix the problem. Well, it did not fix the problem and they had to come out two more times after that because the problem kept happening. After the third time, the Service Tech told me that he could not fix it and left. After trying to get a hold of a supervisor to have them give me a refund they just stopped answering my phone calls so I disputed the charges with the bank which got refused because we signed the receipt on the initial cleaning, which was apparently saying we were happy with the service even though they came back out multiple times and couldn't fix the problem. I also called Lydia multiple times, a supervisor to try and get a refund for just the cleaning and she told me that I disputed the charges and lost because we signed on the the service tax phone, which we thought was just for the payment, but apparently it was saying we were happy with the service even though there was no writing where we signed. so she said there was nothing she can do to help me. They literally just took my money and didn't fix anything and I'm out $470. Plus a $60 trip charge which I was willing to pay. I would not recommend using this company at all. Their customer service was poor and they clearly have no idea what they're doing. we now have to call and report them to the Better Business Bureau, unfortunately which I have never done so they don't take advantage of other people. read more
