Serious issues with my move. DO NOT chance moving with City Transport. The management, Trish was hostel and angry responding to everything in an angry, loud voice. I will even say historic. Very difficult to deal with, muddled. She came to my apartment after I called with my concerns. She was hostel when I opened the door she held a phone in my face saying she was recording everything. When she saw the choas she stopped videoing. Missing pieces to my CPAP machine and 25 gold and silver necklaces, one with diamonds in a locket missing. I feel taken advantage of as a senior woman, single and disabled. All the boxes in my new apartment was stacked against the cabinets and the floor with no room to walk around the kitchen or to unpack. The counters were stacked with the boxes, and two TVs a sewing machine, stuff that should have gone on the balcony. Large heavy boxes were stacked against tub I could not move, preventing taking a shower. There was a comforter in clear plasic bag on top of the boxes. All boxes was mixed up, kitchen stuff in the bedroom and visa versa. Mean spirited, spitfull. I had to put up with derogatory comments, complaing about that i had a lot of stuff, listening them telling nieghbors how hard they had it, attitude and being messed with for two days. My medical equipment, that was the only things on my bedside table were messed with. My CPAP was dismantled and pieces were missing. I had to replace the missing parts, costing, $350.00. My heart monitor was found in a clothing box. The $5,000 CPAP machine was put in a box, unwrapped, with bathroom stuff and embrodery. Embrodery was put in several other boxes, kitchen stuff etcetera,all over. My embrodery had been in a wire basket, neatly stacked. Wire basket, gone. I had several items damaged,storage containers smashed, furniture damaged, one of the selves of a book case missing. My China had two bowls broken. The china is antique. Years ago I inquired about a replacement piece and was given the price of $150.00. I have pictures. One mover, Damien was to pack my closet, without any cloths any cloths in it. He was seen sitting on the floor of my bedroom, starring and seemed non- cognaisant. He took 3 hours to pack my closet of linens, hangers and boxes from the overhead selves. When I asked Damien why it was taking so long, he didn't answer. I was told that Damien had called the manager, Trish, several times during packing, upset and crying, complaining about my treatment of him. I was never rude but did ask why it was taking so long, that was it. Several things were left in the closet, including a box of new shoes. All my plants were damaged and dieing. The second day a new guy came, replacing Daimen. When I asked about the bill with a $55.00 charge for overtime, I asked why. I did not authorize overtime. The first day of my move only half of the truck was unloaded. A secound day took an additional 3 hours. The new guy, on the secound day, when I asked about the overtime charge he went off on me. He took a physically aggressive stance, in my body space and said he wasn't a crook. I tried to escalate the situation and stepped back. He was in my personal space and it took awhile before he relaxed his physically aggressive stance. He gave me the reciept and stalked out. He left a parting gift of taking a chair that was out of the way and put it, blocking the entrance of the kitchen. He also took the reciept before he left. When I texted Trish for a copy, it came back with the overtime charge removed. I did not get the $55.00 charge returned. I have over 30 years of experience and training on desculating angry and disgruntled clients, nothing helped with these movers. The ower called me and called me "crazy" and to sending text messages or he would get a lawyer. My move from Portland, and house, on a hill with stairs, took 8 hours and cost 1, 700.00. My move in Astoria, one mile away, took 10 hours and cost 1,600.00, with elivators. Unfortunately there is more. DO NOT chance using City Transport. read more

I hired this company for a short-distance move of about 15 miles after being quoted approximately $1,600. Trish was very accommodating during scheduling and spoke highly of the company's reputation, which gave me confidence going into the move. Unfortunately, the move itself was a frustrating experience. The three-person crew loaded the truck without properly accounting for all of my belongings. The truck was packed completely full before they realized that a significant amount of outdoor furniture and garage items had been left behind. Rather than reorganize the load, the crew had to make an additional round trip, adding roughly two unnecessary hours to the move. I had also previously discussed furniture placement at the origination location and added a small neighborhood stop to pick up a few pieces of furniture. While I expected that to add some time, the move ultimately took about 12 1/2 hours when it should have been much closer to eight. What concerned me most was the lack of supervision. Mark, who appeared to be the on-site supervisor, was rarely involved while these issues were unfolding. Better oversight could have prevented much of what went wrong. In addition to the excessive time, one of my nicer chairs was damaged during the move. The crew also failed to protect the stairs with plastic coverings, resulting in dirty carpeting at my new home. To her credit, Trish has agreed to arrange carpet cleaning, but I am still waiting for that to be completed. In hindsight, given the problems throughout the day, I probably should not have paid the full amount at the time of service. However, I did because I wanted to address my concerns professionally afterward. Others may have had a different experience, but based on mine, I cannot recommend this company and would not use them again. read more

City Transfer moved us from one house in Cathlamet to another. They showed up when promised. Each of the four guys introduced themselves to us and shook our hands. Everything was carefully wrapped and loaded on the truck. Mats were placed on the hardwood floors to avoid damaging them. Everything ended up at the new house undamaged. Beds were re-assembled. All in all a great experience. I would recommend them for cross town or long distance. read more

All employees from dispatcher to movers were amazing. Dispatcher put up with many changes from us and was always cheerful and helpful. The movers showed up on time and worked fast and hard! The only problem was one worker put parts of a futon in his jacket and took them home and did not have them when he came back so it could not be set up. We had been working with City Transfer since December for an upcoming move from Oregon to Ohio. We finally got an offer on our home so we traveled to Ohio to find our next home. While in Ohio we called back to City Transfer to check and see if we were still on for the move. We were told that we were in fact still on. When we returned to Oregon the story changed and they were no longer available. Micky at City Transfer said that they passed us to a movers in Portland and that they would be contacting us the next day. We were never called, when we called them they didn't know what we were talking about and also they were booked up until July. We had to be out of our house by June 28. Thank God for Che Auditor and EZ Move. They squeezed us in between jobs and got us to Ohio in record time. read more

Wow just called into to question why I was charged overtime when the company was 2 hours late to start with and Trish began to yell at me for questioning the OT charge. Only seems reasonable that if you don't start until 11:00 that you wouldn't be charged OT until 7:00 Apparently I am the unreasonable one for questioning the charges. She was angry that I asked for a detailed invoice when the one that was provided was all marked up and owner Mark told me to call in and get a new invoice. It took 6 hours for 2 men to move only furniture that was on the list provided to her apparently it is my fault for their time management issues. Of course when they were running late and I phoned in 2 times it was no worries Mrs. xxxxx we will get you moved of course not knowing she was going to have to add men to get the job done. Anyway the movers did an Ok job first 6 hours went a little slow. Trish is totally unprofessional and going forward I would not pay an invoice without them being clear as to what they are charging for before your issue your check. I am just astounded that she began to yell and scream over asking why the OT was charged when the drivers were late. read more

James and Micah did an amazing job packing all of the stuff in this 8x12 trailer. It all arrived in perfect condition and saved me a lot of money. I should have known better.....from the first phone call with the sales representative I should have run away from this company. She will speak to you like a 5 year old child from the beginning, WHY? She is simply an awful communicator. 350 mile move and they 1. forgot our couches (I pulled them in a trailer) and lost a $400 portable air conditioner. Then the same woman pointed me to the $.50 per pound insurance coverage. The second worst communicator in the company is the scheduler. The owner asked me to speak directly to him at the end, I have called twice.....nothing. I suspect my request to speak to him is being trashed. RUN AWAY....... read more

We used City Transfer to move about a three mile distance in the Seaside area. What a mistake. First, the movers show up an hour late and say they could not find the location. The two men that moved use were very grumpy and very nasty. One guy spat right on the walkway into the house. I guess it was their way of saying they did not want to be there and that somehow we were ruining their day. They threw items around in the truck like a kid would toss a toy when having a tantrum. They were so slow it took more than the allotted time and thus we had to pay "overtime" pay..we had to pay them time and a half for the time over this allotment. Yes, that is after we were billed for the hour they did not show up. To make matters worse, they did not even move everything. We had to haul the rest of the stuff in our SUVs. After complaining to management we still ended up with the total $1,200 bill for a 3 mile move. How people like this stay in business is beyond me. read more

Interesting, we used City Transfer in October 2012 to move from Netarts, OR.. outside of Tillamook, to Bend, OR and we had absolutely the opposite experience, in every way! First the owner came and gave us an estimate. We were moving a full 1,800 sq ft house. She was very helpful, and explained everything carefully. My husband and i have used professional movers 4 times and this was indeed the best one we have used. We used United once, and were very much ripped off by them. We used on other of the BIG companies, but not sure which one now. It was ok, but we had delays and issues with our things being on 2 trucks... from Illinois to Oregon. Several items came broken or smashed... some they wrapped and some we did. Believe me, it is awful to have to get money for those items. Also they gave us 2 art items that were not ours, and as hard as we tried to give it back, they never responded to us.... so we had them for years. I am sure the people who they belonged to were upset. When we moved from Denver back to Oregon, we had a local group move us and they too were pretty good! But CIty Transfer was the best. We did have some antiques and fragile items as well as good china, that we had their wrapper wrap. I watched him some of the time and he was very good. NOTHING got to our new home damaged, nothing broken. Even things in the boxes we packed ourselves. They were very efficient, got there on time, and worked hard. They were a fun group too. I liked them so much I went out and got them some cookies and drinks from a local store. They seemed to actually like their work. So opposite from Judson's experience. Also the owner explained to us that the state laws prevented them from over charging. And because of some of the laws for in state moves, it was difficult for them to make even a decent profit. I was then expecting to find half the crew that there actually was, and I was worried about them not doing such a great job. But were we surprised. It has been over a year now and we still talk once in awhile about how they even made any profit with how much our bill ended up being! Also there were few choices in the area. None out of Tillamook.. it was this one or Lincoln City or use a big company from Portland. Another reason we were pleased since they could be more difficult since there were few others to chose from. If I were someone looking at my review and then looking at Judson's I would just ask the company what that was about. Tell them to go on line and explain his and ours. There might be a reason. It just seems so odd since our moves were just a month apart! Also, I will tell them they are free to give people our number to call and ask us. We are retired seniors..... read more

Very upsetting experience. When the estimator came to our home, she was very late because she stopped at a store. She went quickly through the house and gave us no time to ask questions. Our mistake. The move was in two sections, part going to storage and part going to a rental home. The only problem was that they didn't bring a truck big enough for the move because the estimator hadn't taken long enough to see how much furniture we had, the movers stopped working because of paperwork confusion, and the moving truck wouldn't start because of a dead battery. The problems were the confusing paperwork and that, even though we were promised our furniture would be put in storage crates, a large piece was left in the open warehouse and damaged beyond repair. 3 months after the move, the issue has not been settled.
