The service was very friendly and nice but amateur, and with three people all checking in on us regularly, it really made us feel incredibly uncomfortable from a health perspective (as well as just being unnecessarily disruptive). Two things they could change instantly that would make a huge difference: 1) get staff to wear masks properly; and 2) have one waiter per table. The food was really good, and the kitchen staff member we saw seemed very professional and was wearing his mask properly. The outdoor environment would be very enjoyable with different service, so it's a shame this aspect which would be so easy to fix isn't working, and people are being put at risk. The wait staff seemed so well-intentioned, we hope you can put it right.

The Pizza was delish with inventive toppings, hard to pick a favorite we shared three large pizzas between 5 of us with a couple of sides to start, this was more than enough. Tasty Mulled Wine that was welcome addition considering the cooler night. Tempted by the home made tiramisu but sadly lacking in appetite to give it a go. I will be back to try next time.

I'm sure this place is legendary. It's one of Auckland's best little secrets, and lies hidden…read morebetween the festering brew bars and chain-store chicken shacks. There are usually a couple of homeless people sitting on the bus stop outside, and occasionally there'll be a sign outside telling you it's booked out for the night and you'll have to go elsewhere to get your nightly pizza and kiwi music fix. When you can get yourself a table however (the reason it's often full is more down to its woefully small capacity), it's well worth the chance of dejection. Themed as a kind of bizarre tribute to some of the misguided cult-heroes of New Zealand's musical pantheon, Pizza Pizza Kiwi Music keeps the Aotearoan soundtrack pumping and serves up some of the nicest pizzas in town. The aforementioned pizzas are named after the aforementioned cult-heroes and so it's entirely possible to chow down on a "Betchadupa" while knocking back a cold beer ($5 Stellas during happy hour!!!) and getting quietly and joyously plastered and looking down on the great unwashed as they dither their nights away, up and down Queen Street. Great sub-features of the place: 1. It's tiny and therefore exclusive and therefore good. 2. The main barman (is he the owner?) has a brilliant moustache and looks suspiciously like he just arrived back from The Gathering c. 1998 (via a time machine (potentially pizza powered)). 3. There is a chicken pizza called "Salmonella Dub". Brilliant. 4. Their awkward to decipher signage means most people develop their own special name for the place. I call it "Pizza Pizza Kiwi Music Pizza Pizza". 5. Their stairwell is ungodly. Incredibly steep and pretty much purpose designed to have people fall down and injure themselves after too many happy hour beers. Genius.

Excellent pizza! Great combos and perfect vibes to sit and enjoy a slice. Loved the local info…read moreabout the origins and inspirations.

Every eatery and store that had been there previously…read morehad failed, I didn't see what could possibly be so special about Gorgeous that would make it last. Now, six years later, it's still going strong and now having eaten there on numerous occasions I understand why. The pizzas at Gorgeous aren't like the cheap, oily, plastic tasting pizzas you find in the usual takeaway pizza places. These pizzas are fresh, use REAL toppings and sauces and the bases never make you feel like you've eaten your weight in cardboard. When trying to think which pizza is my favourite I honestly couldn't decide. All of the ones I have tried have been great, so I can definitely vouch for the 'Sophia, Cindy and Kirsten', but am sure the others will be equally as satisfying. Though pricier than the Dominos and Pizza Huts of the world, Gorgeous is an independent pizzeria with great New York style pizzas that are ironically named after top models. Once you try a slice from Gorgeous, the fact it costs three times the price of a Dominos pizza won't bother you in the slightest - the taste and quality will blow you away! Tip: Get the vanilla cheesecake for dessert, it's so good just thinking about it makes my mouthwater!

It wasn't busy, though I imagine on rugby nights this place is swamped. But, at 8pm on a rainy Saturday there was only one other couple in there. The service is great, and I suppose it can be when there's not many people, but I feel like it's great all the time. Our beers were brought to us super quickly, and when my boyfriend had only just finished his first, we were being asked if we wanted another. That could sound overwhelming, but the guy running the place that night was just so calm and together, it all flowed really well. To eat, we had the Jackie O pizza. Delicious. It's a thin crust, gourmet ingredients, and it was gobbled up quite quickly. And though I wasn't meant to, I did get the dessert. V naughty, but v worth it. It was a home-made chocolate donut, with more chocolate sauce and ice cream. Totally recommend this place. Yeah, the pizza does cost more than takeaway outlets, but I definitely know I'd rather spend the money here. We will definitely be back. Tip: I would be hesitant to come here on a rugby night if you wanted a quiet date night dinner. BUT in saying that, it would be an awesome place for dinner and drinks pre-game.

The outside area is speckled with fairy lights, making for a very attractive invitation to any passersby. The live music was just amazing, as those who were performing had oodles of talent! I had some potato cubes with dips, which were pricey, but nice. It reminded me a lot of Northern Steamship on Quay St, but with loads more space to breathe. Definitely recommended! :)

I don't know where they find their cool stuff but I wish I did. We had one of the nippers in tow on our last visit on a Saturday afternoon but truth be told, like most bars funnily enough, it's not really for the kids. The bloke had a beer and I had a cocktail because it sounded delicious and involved mint (Nuevo Colada - most excellent and I'll have another thanks very much). On other occasions I've been here in big groups and I think that's where the Neighbourhood comes into its own. It is loud and raucous and sadly (or not, depending on your POV) something of a pick-up joint as the night rolls on. There is a DJ, even on Saturday afternoon but the sound selection on this latest visit seemed a bit random with no real mood or theme. I guess for me the Neighbourhood sums up the best and worst elements of Auckland bars. Looks good, slick service, nice products but really just a bit too cool for its own self. The patrons range greatly in age and urban tribal affiliation but be prepared to have every pair of eyes size you up as you walk in through the front courtyard. Why people? Are your companions that boring? I'm not really into the see and be-seen scene but I do like the feel of this place in summertime - it is literally cool which is of course a good thing. I'm just not that keen on the other patrons.
