Had originally planned on going to the creole spot across the street but they were closed for a private event. So across the street we went! Cheese board - the best!, double Kobe burger - delicious, shrimp wow, pineapple upside down cake divine so I'm told. However no chocolate desserts!! Sorry you lose an entire star for that miss. Any form of chocolate something is needed for the ladies it has to be a staple...right? But moving on Drinks were equally lush! Hat trick botanist gin with house made tonic was a win and a rum cocktail was equally lush and one of their strong ones! My husband and I enjoyed our meal here. The interior is beautifully decorated. It feels roomy and comfortable. I look forward to eating outside once the weather brightens. The service was friendly and knowledgeable--every single person who helped us was warm and engaging. I think the service might have been a little too attentive, honestly. It meant that our conversation was often interrupted--I'd much rather have too attentive than neglected--and I genuinely appreciated the friendliness, but I would have liked a little more linger on our end. The food was very good overall. I got the burger which was everything you want in a burger. It was messy and saucy, seasoned really well, and a perfect size. The fries were more wedges, and they were delicious! My husband got the snapper and enjoyed it--I tried it and thought it was a trifle bland, but I didn't eat it with any of its accompaniments, so it probably was perfect. We also tried the macaroni and cheese. That's a definite pass. It tasted like oily noodles with cheese on top. There was no sauce at all. And it was $14-it was enough to share, but again, who would want to? A last note--I think their prices are a little high. I would probably shave $2 off of each entree. However, they do have a tribe of happy and friendly staff. If the extra $2 translates into more money for the staff, then I will gladly pay the extra, but if they're being paid the same as everyone else in the area then I think the prices should come down. read more

I'm not usually big on green vegetables unfortunately, but whatever they're doing is magic. I ate here once, with my son and the rest of our food was amazing, also. I had the red pepper/tomato soup and he had the sour cream and onion dip and the "trio" cheese, sausage, and chicken tortellini. I'm vegetarian and I thought going in it might not be great for me, but I left very satisfied. The staff is friendly and helpful and we sat outdoors on a beautiful evening. A restaurant like this in Covington was unthinkable a few years ago. The renovated old pharmacy is really cool. Cocktails are on par with anywhere in Atlanta. Oysters are outstanding. Wine is reasonably priced and lots of local beer. On the menu, the snapper is great, but the specialty mac and cheese that changes with the calendar is fun and unique. Space: Airy but great acoustics for conversation, lighting needs tweaked(the skinny halogen strip running on the ceiling near the wall should be flood, not spot or just gone. Warmly minimal rough stucco brick walls with just enough mahogany and exposed hvac. Food: Didn't sink into main entrees but enjoyed the collards as much as ATL's City Winery's offering, mac and cheese could have impressed more with portion and bigger cavatappi at $14 a serving. Battered squash and zuke wow'ed with homemade red pepper hummus(?) Service: Attentive, prompt and reliable. I became annoyed over time by one staffer who constantly walked back and forth through the restaurant. I made a reservation at City Pharmacy to host some people from out of town. All of my previous visits to CO had been great so this was an easy choice. about a week later, I received a message saying that they were hosting a private party now on the day of my reservation so it was no longer valid. I thought that this was really low class on their part to cancel existing reservations so they could host an event. I live in Covington but I can say now that after being treated like that, I will never ever go back there. Beware of your "reservation" as obviously that does not mean much to them. read more

This restaurant is a dark horse in a town full of great restaurants. For starters, I ordered an Old Fashioned which was made to perfection. Most places use too much ice and gets watered down. Not this drink. Then my meal! Oh man. Wow. The house smoked pork tenderloin. Perfectly cooked and the mixture of flavors were out of thisbworld. Portions are ridiculous. We order spinach artichoke dip under seasoned is being nice. My husband had the Mahi tacos the taste was fine but were way over cooked as was my pecan (there was no pecans) and goat cheese pork tenderloin. We have been to City Pharmacy at least 6 times. It has always been excellent. However, on 9/13/2022 the food was not so good. It was uneven. Service was top notch. I ordered a salmon dish and it was first rate, very tasty, and cooked correctly. My wife ordered a risotto based dish with shrimp, scallops and crawfish. It was very, very salty and there were pieces of uncooked rice in the risotto. We also ordered smoked grits. They were overcooked, dry and you could eat them with a fork. They said they have a new chef. To their credit, they did not charge us for the poorly cooked risotto dish. read more

A hidden gem. Been several times and it's always excellent. Recommend sitting at the bar. Natasha mixes up the most excellent cocktails. Don't go here if you are a party of more than 4. Whenever we have a group we always think of City Pharmacy first but then we *all* remember what terrible service we had on our last visit there and are not interested in going back. I don't know what changed at City Pharmacy but it used to be our go-to place for special events and now we just make the drive to Decatur. Excellent food and phenomenal service here at covington.. everything themed around medicinal which make this journey sound and feels like a therapy.., this place It's a must-see if you visiting come in 10 or if you are in Oxford up Emery.. I was extremely hungry and I just wanted to find really a very nice place that will appeal to my pallets and this place did not let me down. I ordered the trout and finished It's with their home made chocolate cake and both wear amazing. I really love that they put white rice under the trout and they just complemented the taste of the fish rather than putting french fries or potatoes which not going to bring out the flavors. Chocolate cake was not to sweet, I am not a big fan of sweets and usually I can finish less than quarter of my dessert but for this one I finished about 2/3 of my fish and if it was if it wasn't me counting my calories I would've probably ate the cake.. read more

This is a total gem on the Covington square!!!! I live in the area and only go to the square to get my tags. I'm glad this year I was hungry and decided to grab a bite on the square. My fiancé and I were blown away by the decor, service and quality of the food!!! I'm definitely a shrimp Po Boy snob (I Nawlins) and City Pharmacy's was one of the best I've ever had!!! The only thing saving this place is the atmosphere and cocktails. The service is a little off, not sure if they're just so desperate for customers or what but the whole in your face 24/7 leaves much to be desired. I do however think their food pricing for the area isn't going to last long. I believe I had their seafood gumbo, or something similar. The only "seafood" about it was one jumbo shrimp and two scallops. Come on guys, this is Covington, not Atlanta. We also came when they were shifting their menu seasonally, which sounds awesome. But leaving your customers with the picked over remains of the previous menu is ridiculous. I don't really understand how one believes that to be a good business model to follow. read more

City Pharmacy has upped their game since my last review. The service is wonderful and the roasted beet salad is definitely my favorite dish. Their cocktails are the best around. The dinner rush gets very loud but that would be my only objection. I usually go a bit earlier and request a specific table. Reservations are a good idea as they often have private events. read more

Went here with my wife for lunch one weekday. We were fortunate enough to grab a seat outside on the sidewalk. Beautiful little town to eat lunch in the middle of. I had the Reuben which was delicious and one of the best I've had. My wife had the chicken salad and enjoyed it too. We will definitely have lunch here again. read more

The chicken had a sour smell and the waffles were hotel breakfast quality. We got pimento cheese for an appetizer and it was so frozen, we couldn't even break in to it with a knife. The waitress acted like we were a nuisance since we wanted to sit outside, which meant we had to wait 10 minutes between refills. When my bills is $70 for two people, I expect way better. We usually come to Covington to visit our family from New Orleans, we were excited to try this new gem that offers brunch on Saturday!! It has amazing decor, service was great but the kitchen needs to step it up a little. I ordered a mimosa and steak and eggs, eggs were perfect, potatoes were also delish. However, I order my steak medium well and it came out completely raw, I ate the sides because they were good but when I got to the center it was way to raw!! I really hope that they pay more attention to the kitchen. Covington needed a place like this I really hope that the next time we come into town we can come. Great brunch location. A group of us had gone to another restaurant for brunch that had a long wait time so one of the ladies suggested this place. She called and made reservations and by the time we got there we were seated immediately. The food, drinks and service were excellent. I've had shrimp and grits all over the metro area and these were by far one of the best. Topped off with home fries and The Artillery Punch, made for a perfect brunch. One of the other ladies had a Bloody Mary and commented it was one of the best she has had. The only negative is I wish they had a few more food options.
