The place was really peaceful and my New York State of mind was completely gone, although temporarily. I really felt like a little kid when I went on to explore the different rooms in the castle. The furnishings and designs are things you would expect to see in films. My favorite rooms were probably the Bottlery (wine room) and The Buttery (the kitchen). Their castle dog, Ri, was super adorable and roamed around as if he owns the place. Some castles can feel intimidating but this place felt very intimate and homey. The hotel is located a short drive from Ashbourne town which is a great place to pop in for a meal with plenty of really good restaurants. We dined in he second night from the buffet and found the food to be excellent, especially the desserts which included beautiful profiteroles filled with creme patisserie (not cream which is a sin) and a wedge of cheese cake which was light and delicious, melting in the mouth making you feel like having a second one would not hurt the waist line too much. Every member of staff from the cleaning staff to duty managers always greeted us with a smile and a friendly hello and you are really made feel at home while staying there. The rooms are warm, comfortable and modern making each night after a hectic day a joy to return to. The hotel ensures that all guests are catered for especially the children with nightly activities organised for all the family which included a kids disco and bingo. We attended the kids disco with DJ Richie B who really entertained the kids giving out prizes and covering children with snow from his snow machine while playing frozen songs. A half hour drive from the Dublin airport, Daly's Inn is in the heart of the Boyne Valley prehistoric and historic sites. Rooms are in a quiet location in a tiny village with a coffee shop and grocery store. Across the parking lot is the local pub with great food and full bar. The room is clean with tea making setup, a large shower and tiled bathroom. Walls are thin, but guests were quiet and the pub closes up around 8 with masks only needed when entering and exiting. Check in for lodging is at the pub.
