Expect to go through a security checkpoint much like at an airport when you enter the building-- you'll need to remove things in your pockets and the like. The security team is pretty friendly though and will even make small talk to add comfort to the situation. The first time I went there was no line at all at the tax assessor's office. The second time there was a semi-sizeable line (approximately a dozen folks ahead of us) but it moved quickly! The clerks are polite and efficient. I do suggest bringing a checkbook if you have one to avoid a fee for the use of credit/debit card. This building is quite an aesthetic one for a government building and they made quite the effort to spread Christmas cheer with their decorations! Even the clerks had decorated their cubicles with their own fun festive flair.
