Me and my work compadre showed up and they handed him a sign that said last person standing, that means no more brisket after us and to let others that follow us know. Kind of sad to be the ones to let the others know. But man we lucked out! They run out every afternoon. They still had most of the other meats but we were there mainly for the brisket. We split 1 lb of brisket and 1 lb of pork ribs. Potato salad, coleslaw along with the complimentary pickles shed onions you serve yourself. Absolutely delicious. Best brisket and ribs I've ever had and I smoke a lot of meat myself including brisket. Mines good but not this good. Last time I was here an elderly gentleman leaned over and said the slices of bread you don't eat are great to use as napkins. He was right! Unconventional but it works better than paper napkins. Service is fantastic and everyone seems to love working there. They have a lot of swag too. I bought a t shirt. Place is super busy and a lot of non stop activity. The decor is cool too. Each time I wondered if a table would be available when we needed one and both times there were. We sat at a table with others that had room and they invited us to sit down before we asked. Texas hospitality! There are a few outdoor tables too. Hopefully I'll be back next year.

The pro being the line was super short and the con being brisket was the only meat option available. We were blown away with how perfectly tender the brisket was. We could have used a plastic fork to cut it because it just melted in your mouth. We also got each of their sides and all were perfect! Franklin Barbecue is a must visit while in Austin. I'll be thinking about this place for a while, it was that good.

Even that early, we were numbers 9 and 10 in line! Luckily, we ended up next to a very sweet local couple who told us all about the history of Snow's BBQ. The four-hour wait felt like sitting around a campground chatting with old friends, and getting to meet Ms. Tootsie herself made it unforgettable. It's simply the best BBQ I've ever had. Don't be fooled by the ratings. If I could, I'd give Snow's 10 stars.

My First (and Probably Last) BBQ Line Experience!…read more I say "probably last" because, honestly, I'm just not built for waiting in line! We arrived around 5:30 a.m., and the line was already forming. We found our spot with a view of the pits, where the smoke was already rolling and music was playing in the background. Talk about a Texas morning! Before the 8 a.m. opening, pitmaster and owner Kerry came out and asked everyone to call out their place in line for a raffle. Turns out, we were #89 and #90! After the raffle, we stood for the national anthem, and shortly afterwards, the doors finally opened. While waiting in line, you could shop for merchandise and enjoy complimentary cocktails or Lone Star beer. Just remember to tip! Finally, it was our turn to order, and at 9:44 a.m., we took our first bite of Snow's BBQ. The brisket? Yum! The pork steak? YUM! Everything we tried was good, and we ended up packing the rest to take home. Was the BBQ good? Absolutely. Was the experience worth the early wake-up call and hours in line? It was a fun, uniquely Texan experience, but one I can probably check off my list! Honestly, I made the trip as much out of respect for Tootsie, the legendary female pitmaster, as I did for the BBQ itself. There's something special about the tradition, the people, the pits, and the atmosphere that makes Snow's more than just a meal. If you haven't been, I'd say give it a try at least once. We really enjoyed the snappy smoked sausage, creamy corn dressing and chopped brisket chili--a sensationally greasy creation that had me questioning if I've ever had a better restaurant chili! (I have not.) Meyers has somehow managed to create a chili that is packed with flavorful and juicy brisket chunks, with no other veggies or beans added--a phenomenal feat for a dish that is one part chili, and two parts heaven. We also loved the simple addition of having a pickle and sauce bar where customers can pick as many pickled veggies as they like. The counter service was also super speedy and we especially enjoyed the homemade buttermilk pie, a delectable custardy dessert that is now our favorite pie flavor. All in all, one can see why Meyers is a TX institution, with their cozy vibes and delicious eats. 8/10 recommend!

Disappointing BBQ Experience…read more We stopped at Meyer's BBQ after a fun morning of picking blackberries down the road and were really looking forward to lunch. Unfortunately, this was our first visit, and will also be our last. My mom ordered the chicken, my sister had the chili, and I went all in with the brisket, ribs, creamed corn, coleslaw, and buttermilk pie. The brisket was, without question, the driest brisket I've ever had. It was so dry that I had to take a drink after nearly every bite just to get it down. The ribs weren't much better, equally dry and lacking seasoning. The creamed corn had a strange texture and flavor that neither of us enjoyed, and the coleslaw was just average. In the end, all of my meal, plus half of my mom's chicken, went home for the dogs. The one bright spot was the buttermilk pie. It was surprisingly good and had just the right amount of sweetness. To be fair, the staff was very friendly, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. They deserve five stars for hospitality and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the food itself was closer to one star, and when you're visiting a BBQ restaurant, the food matters most. What made this even more disappointing was that we passed by the day before and saw what looked like the entire Elgin police department parked there. We figured it must be fantastic. Sadly, that wasn't our experience. I wouldn't eat here again, and I wouldn't recommend it based on the food we received. Such a disappointment.
