Love it. Amazing customer service. Great coaching on my swing. Haven't been happier with a place involving golf. Couldn't recommend more.

High Energy, Great Tech, Over-Eager Service…read more I was really excited to check out Five Iron Golf for a private event, and overall, it was a blast. If you're looking for a spot with a modern, high-energy atmosphere, this is definitely it. The Atmosphere & Experience The space itself is fantastic--very clean, open, and has a "cool" inviting vibe the moment you walk in. As for the actual golfing, it's a total 10/10 experience. It feels like a high-tech mashup of Putt-Putt, Nintendo Wii, and Topgolf. It's incredibly fun and engaging, though the hourly rental price is definitely on the steeper side, which is the only thing that would make me hesitate to come back regularly. Food & Drinks The F&B was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. Everything was "okay"--perfectly serviceable for a group event, but the golf and the tech are definitely the main attractions here rather than the culinary side. Service The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the night, but a bit overzealous. While I appreciate attentiveness, the team was a bit aggressive with clearing the plates and asking if we needed more drinks. They checked in every 10-15 minutes, which felt a little intrusive after a while when you were trying to play a simulation. They also cleared several plates of food that we were clearly still eating but had taken a break to take our turn in the game. The Bottom Line I'd absolutely do it again for the gaming experience and the vibes, but I'd probably keep a closer eye on my plate next time! It's a great way to wow your date or hang with some friends for a chill night out.

Simulators are everywhere these days and they all have the same information. And, if the guy running the lesson doesn't explain the target numbers, or perhaps doesn't understand the information, these numbers are irrelevant. Their video quality is so slow and poor, it more often than not missed crucial parts of my swing. My phone would've been more useful. The bottom line is, these are not coaches. They are guys that like to play golf and wanted a way to make money when not golfing. They use a couple of gimmicks, and send you off with links to online videos. You pay 1 hour prices for 30 minutes, and there is no investment in your progress. When I started my lessons, I told them I wanted two things. I wanted a practice plan, so when on the range I'd be practicing with purpose. I also wanted to build the foundation of a good swing, and I didn't mind a setback in scoring. I wasn't looking for miracles. I got neither. My first coach was COMPLETELY disinterested in our lessons. I'm not saying he was always hungover, but he acted like he was. He'd sip coffee and wander out of the room for half the time. Once, I drove all the way there, on his schedule, for a lesson. He came in the room and asked if I'd rather just practice on my own. I asked for a different teacher. The next guy wasn't any better. It was summed up when, after working together for a couple months, he asked "is that your normal ball flight?". Shouldn't you know that after "coaching" me for 2 months? It's like these guys have never even been coached, never mind have the credentials to do the coaching. Biggest regret of my golf career.

Some the coaches and I didn't click or the lessons were too generic. I decided to check out golftec since I drove by it every day. I'm glad I did. After the eval I purchased a teaching plan. It isn't the cheapest around but I have seen definite results. The facility has approximately 4 days which have a combination of video recording equipment and golf simulators. It also has an indoor putting green and equipment to hit off uneven lies. The only downside is that currently only one bay has the golf simulation equipment. I think there's talk about expanding with more simulators. I tend to practice here a lot after work which is great. I work on my game and wait for traffic to settle down. I have recommended this place to a bunch of friends and they all enjoyed it. The coaches are all pretty nice and easy to work with. I personally work with Alex who is great. He's a very nice guy who quickly identified my swing faults and set up a plan to get me where I wanted to be. This place is worth a "drop by".

Wanted to charge me $1260 more than a friend of mine that signed up two months earlier. That is per year! All told they wanted to charge $3780 per year when my friend pays $2520 per year. On top of that they wanted to charge me $8160 for 48 training sessions which is $170/hr. I would have more than likely paid for the trainers because they are known for this, but when they cannot give you a similar rate to what others are paying because they think you have the money is ridiculous. Especially when you are prepared to spend $8160 on just the PT. All told that is $11940 for 16 weeks of PT and one year at the gym. That is a lot of money for anyone to put down. With this amount of money I was able to get two weeks of health spa vacations in La Jolla, CA and I am talking to several independent trainers that have made names for themselves in the area and will get 16 weeks from them. It took me a bit to find out who is who and who the best PT trainers are in the area. Certainly not at Equinox since the trainer they were going to assign me too you cannot find any information about them. So for me I am now spending ... $280 at Planet Fitness for Black Card $4320 for 48 PT session, plus 3 more for free $6400 for two weeks at an all-inclusive health resort in CA $560 for round trip tickets Total all together is $11560 which is $380 less and much more enjoyable than Equinox. Let's check the checklist. 1) Year long gym membership with access to every gym at Planet Fitness has around the world 2) 16 weeks, 3 days a week of PT training with a top trainer 3) 2 weeks at a health spa resort 4) Oh yeah, traveling to California On a related note, I was a member of this gym years ago. They played funny games with me where they allowed people that live more than a certain distance away to get out of their contract with no problems. I was well beyond that distance. Instead, they changed my address to their location at 225 Franklin Street and tried to tell me I was not able to get out of the gym membership because I lived at the same building as the gym. I had to report them to the attorney general to get out of the membership. I would not have gone back if it hadn't been so many years and my business partner and life coach recommended that I go for the PT. Just goes to show that a leopard cannot change their spots. Avoid this gym! There are better gyms out there.
