This is my third attempt. There are not many threading options in Merced. The employees are welcoming but the outcome of my brows always have an issue. Do NOT waste your money here. Drove over 40 minutes to get there before closing time. I arrived at 7:48 pm. There were 2 ladies inside and both said they were closed. Online advertising says they are open until 8:00 pm, door advertising says open until 8:00 pm. The door was open, and two ladies were inside one was sweeping and she was super rude and said "we are closed". The other at the register just threw her hands up in the air like oh well. No care for the clients, don't spend your hard earned money here. Gas is expensive and I informed them I drove a distance. They could care less. read more

Some of the ladies are a little more skilled than others but I've never had a "bad" threading experience here. They are polite, reasonably priced, and you can be in and out within 10 minutes usually, so I'll continue to come here. read more

I used to love this place byt the price has gone up so much and it really depends on who does your service. Most of the workers are super great and always get it right every time but there is one who Im always unhappy with and always seems to push me off when Im trying to specify how I like my eyebrows shaped. I wouldn't mind if it wasn't $15-$30 for a 10-15 minute service, at least make sure your customer is getting what they asked for. other than that the place is always very clean and the vibes are good. read more

*Getting called Fat by an Employee* I have been a customer at city eyebrow ever since 2018, & have had good service throughout the years. I have been satisfied with the look&shape of my eyebrows, ever since I found this place. It was my favorite place to get my brows done. I have never felt judged, or had an issue at this business, until this experience alone. This review has nothing to do with the skill of the service, rather than what was said at my time of the service. The woman working on my eyebrows today, was named PREET. She kindly asked me if I wanted a clean up, and I responded back "clean up and shaping please", and showed her a photo of the shape that I wanted, like I always do. She told me to lean back in the chair. As I did that, she asked, "you have gotten fatter, right?" I responded back saying "excuse me? What do you mean by that?" She simply just re-stated, without hesitation, "you have gotten a bit "fatty", I have not seen you in a while" I was honestly shocked that she just said that to me, and hoped I misunderstood what I just heard. Maybe she was talking about my eyebrows. So I asked "are you talking about my eyebrows? What do you mean by that" She said "no your body, your body has gotten fat". I was hurt, shocked, & done with the conversation from there. I just wanted to get my eyebrows done and leave. (And not that it matters, but I was just wearing a baggie hoodie & basketball shorts. But because of that comment, I was self conscious of how my legs & body were looking immediately) Once I paid for the service, I asked who the owner of the business was. Preet told me that the manager/owners's name is "Mandeep" I told her that I wanted the manager's phone #, because I didn't think it was okay, appropriate, or professional, for someone working at a business to call a customer "fat". She doubled down and said "no, no, no, I only said that because I have not seen you in a while, and you have gotten fat. Do you go the gym?" I responded back saying "what does having to go the gym, have to do with getting my eyebrows done? First of all, I don't know you that well, for you to be directly saying this to me" She said "I'm sorry ma'am, I'm only saying this because in comparison I'm much skinnier" (WTF) The level of unprofessionality--who says that? Out loud & straight to my face. imagine what her and the other coworker are saying behind my back. I honestly felt heart broken and betrayed by a business that I REALLY valued, for years. Four other women (customers) were in the store, listening to this conversation, & honestly they gave me strength to even continue this conversation, because I felt like they couldn't believe what they just heard her say either. I wanted to leave as soon as possible at this point, but I ask again "can I please have Mandeep's number so I can just leave" She just gave me the stores card, saying contact this number (THE STORE'S NUMBER). She spoke to her other coworker in Punjabi, asking her what to do. The other coworker asks me how she can help me. She apologizes on Preets behalf, & said that she cannot give me the managers number because she does not know it" I leave the store, walk to the car, in tears to my boyfriend, about how the employee called me fat, out of nowhere. I told him how she said it--the way she smiled while saying it, & the way she wasn't actually sorry about what she said, & how she just said 'sorry' last minute, as damage control, so I could leave as soon as possible, so no other customers would hear what happened. I had another appointment to go to, but my BF went back into the store, while I was at my appointment. He goes directly to the register, & says he needs the managers name & phone number. Immediately the SAME employee who said she didn't know the mangers number, writes down Mandeep's cell. Why lie? After my appointment, my boyfriend told me what happened & I called Mandeep. She was very sweet, very kind, & very apologetic. I'm so glad I spoke to her. She told me that she gave Preet a warning, and that it was "cruel of her to say". I told her that I don't feel comfortable even walking back into the store, even though this was the only place I have been getting my eyebrows done. I even told her I started writing this Yelp review. But Mandeep told me to give it a second chance, & to go to her. Hopefully I can give this place a second chance eventually, even though it is nerve-wrecking. Mandeep was very kind, & I do not blame what happened today on her, or the rest of the business. I'm sure they will still receive plenty of business, even after this review. I don't think anyone would even care to read this extremely long review, but i just wanted share my experience of what happened today, since this was a terrible situation that left me feeling awful. I've been coming here the past four years since I moved to merced and it's always been a cool experience. I've gone to different ladies and never minded the shape and the little aloe massage at the end is really nice! I recently went on Monday and a lady I haven't gone to before did my eyebrows. Beforehand I explained I wanted a clean up and shaping and told her that the last time I came the lady did them thinner then usual with an arch and I liked that. Within like 3 minutes she was done and had me check. I think she could tell by my face I didn't like them and she explained that she didn't do too much to avoid making them thin. She did ask if i wanted anything fixed but I was worried she still wouldn't do what I wanted. Not sure if she wasn't listening to me well or if it was a misunderstanding but I just said thanks paid and left. When I got to my car I saw how uneven they really looked and I literally cried. The next day I went back in and explained what happened and Sammi was sooo nice and fixed them at no charge! She took her time and really did an amazing job, I felt so much relief once I saw how great they were. I'll definitely make sure to go to her and only her from now on! read more

This is long but I've included details that I feel are important and may be helpful! So this was my third time trying this place. After reading reviews I told myself that I would wash my face as soon as I got home every time to prevent any painful acne from bacteria since I have extremely sensitive skin. After the first time I kind of figured that I'd go back because the price makes the experience worth it? I had a lady I went to consistently for more than 2 years and she's MIA now.so I went here and it hurt really bad compared to the lady I would go to but $11 is pretty good for threading. I liked my eyebrows the first time and she left them pretty natural like I usually get them. I went home washed my face and I was good! The second time I went I told the lady to clean them up only and she made them way too thin for my taste. I was ready for the discomfort but at the end they give you a massage with aloe Vera gel on your temples eyebrows so that made it better. I still went home and washed my face and everything was good. The third time I went I asked the lady to clean them up and leave them pretty natural and she did. However, I feel like she was way too rough because she kept putting a lot of pressure on my face that it made the thread snap 3 times and it was much more uncomfortable. I also noticed that she used enough pressure to the point where in the middle of my eyebrows I had red marks that looked like a tiny hickey. I also noticed that this time when she massaged with the aloe Vera gel my face stung and surely enough when I looked I had cuts on my eyebrows. I went home and washed my face again to be on the safe side because there were cuts on my face! I didn't want to get an infection! I took pictures 3 days later and it still looks weird. They did a great job at shaping and threading my eyebrows. No complaints there. But their hygiene and sanitary precautions are awful. The lady who did my brows was handling money with her gloves on and put hand sanitizer on the gloves. Didn't even change them! They also don't clean the scissors in between customers. I've come here sporadically since I'm from LA. Eyebrow clean up is $13 dollars and comes with a subtle forehead massage. Not what I prefer but it gets the job done. Some of the technicians are professional. A couple are not. For example, I had one instance where one technician slammed the seat backwards. The other, make up rules depending on the day I catch them. For example, they have a head massage station. When there are people sitting, they say they can't do it. Understandbly. Today, I tested them. Empty seats with 2 technicians. Claimed that the station is appointment only. Last time they told me only when clients are not waiting. On The two stars are for their interpersonal affect and my experience, inconsistency, and basic service. read more

The ladies here are so sweet and gentile. The cost is fair and they did an amazing job on my brows. They had been misshaped by past places I've went and I ended up growing them out for almost 3 months or longer. They had a considerable amount of hair to remove and they did a splendid job. First time coming here since I moved to Merced I used to pay $5 for my eyebrows where I used to live I hesitated to come get my eyebrows here because of some of the reviews about the acne. Well I came and I seen in the reviews that it was about $10 I came in and was glad to see there was no wait and I explained to the lady not to thin and I kept noticing she kept threading one of my eyebrow which I knew wasn't a good sign so after she was done I looked and they were so uneven one of my eyebrow was thinner than the other and the eyebrow with less hair was scabbed for a couple of days and apart from that it was $13 honestly not worth it I was so upset and apart from that I didn't break out as bad like everyone else in the reviews but I did get some breakouts on my forehead which I am sure we're caused by this place because I never break out on my forehead won't be coming back. read more

The work they do here is really good, I enjoy how they take their time to do my eyebrows and include a massage afterwords, however my last visit here didnt go as well, I went in to get my full face threaded and the following day woke up with my face full of acne that is super painful, I'll try to insert pictures of how my skin was completely clear the day I came in to get the work done, keep in mind I do not have sensitive skin at all and dont ever have a breakout so I have a feeling that the thread they use may have some built on dust from being on the counter all day or bacteria from someone who may have touched the thread with unsanitized hands. please be careful next time you come here. read more

I don't trust just anyone with my eyebrows, but I really like City Eyebrow. I have gone monthly for about a year and am happy with how well they do my eyebrows.
