This is the worse restaurant I've ever been to. The shrimp were mushy, The crab smelled like ammonia, the chicken was cold and the egg rolls were greasy. The worse part was when my mother got violently sick a few hours after we came home. She was so sick I took her to the hospital Monday the 6th of March and she just came home today. She was diagnosed with campylobacteriosis bacteria that causes colitis, violent vomiting, bleeding in bowels, bloody stools and can cause death if not treated immediately. It comes from under cooked chicken or foods contaminated by raw chicken. There were 4 other cases with the same thing hospitalized at Brandon regional from the same restaurant. This place needs to be shut down and investigated for contaminated/undercooked food! Do not risk your health at this restaurant. read more

HORRIBLE FOOD, HORRIBLE STAFF, HORRIBLE SERVICE! This place has become the worst. We are typically very amicable and willing to provide a business with feedback and resolve concerns in a nice manner. But this was not the case here. First, our experience: The crab legs that they "only" offer on weekends were dirty and impossible to eat. We attempted to clean them with the napkins and it was just dirt after dirt. The food was cold and under-seasoned. They don't seem to mop or clean the sticky floors. Staff does not check on tables or re-fill drinks. The outcome: When you express your concerns you are met with rude resistance and get bounced around from the waitress, to the host stand, to the manager, to the cook. It's kind of pathetic. I love Chinese food and I am usually never really picky when it comes to it. But this visit at City Buffet was not a pleasant one. Service was great, fast refills and quick to clean off dirty plates. (Not Near A Big) City Buffet Is NOT A $#!††¥ Buffet (But It Can Be A Lot Better) - IMRAN™ I was dying to have Pakistani buffet dinner at my favorite local place but due to Ramadan timing they would not be open for 2 more hours. (Yes, I know, bad Muslim, not fasting but I had a good excuse, thank you God for accepting it, "I HOPE you can find a way to letting it go!"!) ;-) So I decided to look for a buffet dinner place nearby. I found this one listed a few miles away. To make sure it was a valid listing and open, I called the place three separate times. Each time the phone kept ringing and no one answered, though it was about 530PM on a weekend and within their hours of operation. Because I was driving during this time I arrived there anyway. It is very easy to miss the signage, in a large strip mall. There was plenty of parking. I walked in. A young Chinese woman lackadaisically greeted me. I asked why she did not answer the phone. She denied it ever rang though I had three long time ring-no-answers on my phone. Someone else came and showed me to my seat. The place was fairly empty at that time so I took a booth away from the one next to a family with screaming toddlers she tried to make me sit next to. Really? The place is spacious, well lit, and looked very clean, much more so than some other Chinese buffets I have gone to. It was a couple of dollars more than the place near me which I go to often in Apollo Beach which includes eat all you can oysters and crab legs in their lower price. Those items were not available here. The overall variety of dishes was actually smaller than the other place, but it had a larger variety of sushi which was not bad. Most of the dishes were OK. They do NOT have cans of soda, and only have drinks from the fountain, which I decided decades ago never to get unless they are included in the price (e.g. at fast food places) because they are basically so watered down as to taste like dishwater. I got some Hibachi done by a very courteous man. He did a good job. But, none of the tables had a basic fixture of Chinese buffets, soy sauce bottles. You had to go to an island (at least not in the South China Sea) to get plastic bubbles of soy sauce. Again, Really? It is a buffet so I am not expecting back rubs or being waited over hand and foot, but I only got water refilled once. No one checked in on that at all. At the end of the day, I do not go to a Chinese buffet for ambience (yeah, big surprise) or Michelin star quality service, but decent food. The food here was decent. I cannot however rate it more than 3 stars, since 3.5 is not an option on Yelp and 4 stars would be too high. I WOULD try it again IF I was in the area AND if my favorite place was closed. But there was nothing to otherwise say terrible things about. With better management it could be a better experience, especially if they add a few more dishes. And, come on people, no soy sauce at the tables. I will bring my own sachets next time! Although it was a (not near any big) City Buffet, thank God it was NOT a $#![[¥ Buffet as I was afraid. LOL. The host with long yellow hair got a serious attitude! Look at you like you can't afford a lunch buffet! Pay first? It's not a fast food! Lot of people they don't carry cash, and they can't sign the tip before they had their service! Stop give us that looking! The servers were chating in the corner,laughing,playing! Come on! As far as Chinese buffets go this one is a step above the rest. In addition to the typical Chinese buffet fare they have a Mongolian grill and a very large sushi bar. The sushi bar was beautiful. The food was better than average. The service was average. read more

We found this place literally by accident, when we turned off MLK in Seffner to go to Taco Bell. It was 8.45 pm, and I wondered why there were so many cars in the parking lot this late. There used to be a Buffet where this place is now, but it was terrible. The price we paid only 11.99 each, and includes drink, for all the Chinese Food you care to eat. They have a Manned Sushi Bar, and they will roll you whatever Sushi you want, and yes, they have Wasabi and Ginger. The buffet food trays have the ho hum "me too" standard Chinese Favorites. I loaded up on the Spicy Shrimp, and it was very good. What really sets this place apart is it's Hibachi Grill! There is raw beef, chicken, shrimp, and pork, as well as any and every chinese vegatable or noodle you can imagine, as well as garlic, cilantro, ginger, etc, etc, etc. You pick and choose what you want cooked, and a Chinese chef cooks it right in front of you. Found this place by accident last week heading back to St. Petersburg and boy am I glad I did! Apparently they just opened and didn't even have a sign up on the building but upon walking inside I was happy with what I saw. They had a nice spread of hot food, Hibachi station and sushi area. Now when I go to a buffet for the first time I usually skip the Hibachi because if they are good, I try to sample as much from the hot prepared food and sushi as I can and can usually tell if it's worth coming back. Let me tell you... Everything was awesome! Fresh and delicious and this may be the absolute first time I've EVER seen real fried rice on a buffet and I've been to about a hundred different places all over the country. It's usually that yellow instant rice variety sprinkled with frozen veggies, we'll not here folks! It's the real deal! Fluffy pillows rice seasoned with a little soy and it's perfect! Since I went on a Friday night they had out snowcrab legs and I was impressed how fresh they were. Again, not usually something you see at a buffet. Usually you get soggy pre frozen wimpy crabs. The sushi was delicious and not every roll was stuffed with cream cheese which a lot of places do to stretch things out. I believe the price for dinner was 11.99 which was like 4 bucks cheaper than that other buffet place with bad reviews down the street! For what they offered it's a steal! I was excited to come here for the first time with my family and left extremely disappointed. The food in the hot buffet area was cold, the egg rolls and cream cheese wontons were stale, and we even had a cockroach run under our table. DISGUSTING. The only thing I could say that was ok about this place was the hibachi, and even that area I was worried because of the raw meat being out in the open and god knows how long that's been out. So there are really only 2 Chinese buffets in the Brandon area. This one and Tops. After reading all the reviews we chose to go here. We were not disappointed. This is probably one of the best and cleanest Chinese buffets we have ever been to. At $8.99 for lunch its a great deal. If you eat the sushi alone, its worth that much. The selection of sushi included rolls with sashimi including eel, mackerel, tuna & salmon where as other Chinese buffets I have been to only offer california rolls and krab...with a K. The other selections were all full and fresh. Tons of food to chose from including a dessert station and a hibachi area (which we didnt use). There was a gentleman walking around who I assume was the owner or manager actually checking on tables asking if everything was ok. When have you ever had that happen at a Chinese buffet?! Brand new, opened two weeks ago. The selection is good, food is good and the place is very clean. We especially loved the crab legs and shrimp. Neither were over cooked! We loved the wonton and egg drop soup too. I loved the coconut shrimp and the beef and broccoli. I wish I could have tasted each dish, they all looked delicious. Didn't care for the sauce for the sweet and sour chicken but that's just my opinion. The egg rolls were average. They serve green tea in a cup with the bag. We prefer it in a teapot and love Jasmine tea. They also have a sushi bar and a grill. We will go back again and again. Went there for the first time tonight. The ambience is bright and clean. The staff very helpful and friendly. Working in the restaurant business for 40+ years I notice good and bad in this industry. Temperature of food excellent. Hot food hot. Cold food cold. Everything clean and wonderfully displayed. Only thing I can see they need to add is a couple of more vegetables and macaroni and cheese to their buffet. Children love Mac and cheese. I recommend this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. Just don't. It's a big place, but the buffet tables are small. The selection is limited. Sushi is subpar; you can get fresher and more appetizing pieces at a grocery store. Seriously. The hibachi was ok - but I tried it with trepidation as the spread did not look particularly fresh. The cilantro was chopped and mired in...something. Was it oil? Was it water? I don't know. And as I could not determine its status, I skipped the cilantro. The decor is ok - but seems to be stuck in a renovation that just stopped in its tracks. Not their fault - but a young teen pitched a fit in the middle of the place because his grandparents put the tip on the little plate that they brought the wrapped fortune cookies on - and he apparently strongly felt that the tip belonged on the table. We came here because of the good reviews. Must have bee reviews from friends because it wasn't good at all. First of all, all the food was cold, all if it. I hate my food cold!!! Secondly, the soup had no won tons in it and had to wait quite a while after telling the staff, only after telling the girl who cleaned our table did we find won tons in the soup. No wine or beer either. We shied from the shushi only because we were not feeling confident about the quality control. Definitely not a 5 star! read more
