In all, every element of the experience was wonderful, EXCEPT for the presence of the rudest, huffiest, most attitude-y host/manager I've encountered in YEARS. I don't know what was going on in his life yesterday, but from the moment we walked in, this unpleasant fellow had a chip on his shoulder that could've been spotted by Artemis, and an axe to grind that was bigger than Paul Bunyan's. Despite the excellence of the food and atmosphere, my return visit would have been completely colored and spoilt by this behavior were it not for the exceptional hospitality provided by our server, Teri (sp?). The venue is gorgeous, from the palm tree leaf on chandelier on the R level, to the mosaic Copacabana name and (Carmen Miranda-esque) women's face, to the red and black decor and dress of the customer service reps. We dined on finger food. There were carnivore, herbivore, vegan and lactose-friendly options. The open bar was stocked with everything but the ginger beer to create my Moscow mule ;( but...let's have a conversation about the Malibu Bay Breeze that was concocted...strong and Delish. Didn't get her name though ;( either way, I set up shop at the Blackjack table, and made out like a bandit. The goal during this casino night is to gain as many chips as possible, cash them out, and pray to God that you are one of the top earners to be eligible to win one of the prizes. There is also a raffle for even more competition, fundraising and fun. I, and my plus 1 had a blast. She helped me to set the menu and figure out how much we would need based on how many people we were having. She actually suggested I was ordering too much, but I wanted to err on the side of having too much rather than not enough. I should have listened to her..we sent almost all of our guests home with doggie bags, which they were happy to take home with them because the food was so good! We had a full tray of sole in lemon butter, a full tray of eggplant parm, two half trays of different pastas (one in pesto and one in vodka sauce), and a half a tray of roasted potatoes. On the day of the party, Kim showed up exactly at the scheduled time and set up so quickly and efficiently that I almost forgot she was there. She left just as efficiently, leaving no mess behind to have to clean up after. I had priced quite a few other caterers for the party, and Camille's Kitchen had the best pricing by far, and the portion/tray sizes were much larger than other places I've used in the past. This was a special day for me and my family. Kim and Camille's Kitchen really helped in making it a great day.
