However due to recent issues with the credit union I like many consumers now a days threatened to close my checking and savings accounts. Now I know there must be people out there who have banked here for years longer than me but I recieved no sympathy from the teller closing my accounts. He did not try to save my account or apologize for the constant issues. It makes me sad to write this review since I was such a fan of this bank prior to the issues. However I have to say this credit union has changed and is no longer the bank down the road with friendly helpful faces. No it has now become a chain with low customer service standards like many other banks.

This review has been a long time coming, but what happened was both despicable and heartbreaking…read more My father was a long-time customer of Rockland Trust of Raynham, MA. In the final years of his life, he was diagnosed with dementia and was no longer capable of managing his finances independently. A Power of Attorney (POA)--his son--was appointed, and during that period, substantial amounts were transferred from his retirement account into his checking account. These funds were then withdrawn by the POA the same day or the very next day. Over 30 months, more than $110,000 was withdrawn. This pattern of activity should have raised immediate red flags under any responsible financial institution's elder abuse monitoring policies. Instead, the local bank manager allegedly informed the POA in advance when deposits were coming in--directly enabling the rapid depletion of funds. Rockland Trust took no apparent action to safeguard my father's assets or investigate this behavior. At the time of his death, my father had only $82.32 left in his account. Even this final balance was never accounted for or turned over to missingmoney.com, as is standard when unclaimed funds remain. Rockland Trust utterly failed in its duty of care. This wasn't just bad customer service--it was a failure to recognize and respond to financial abuse. Families deserve better. Vulnerable seniors deserve protection. Rockland Trust did nothing. I should have reviewed them long ago…read more When I moved down to Foxboro about 10 years ago, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need to change banks (having come from the South Shore). RFCU had a branch in Mansfield, and soon had branches in neighboring towns. Free checking, friendly tellers, free coin machine and redemption, and they're on the SUM network which means I'm never far from an ATM. I took my Tuesday morning off to go to this branch at 9am to talk to a manager, and the teller rudely told me that the manager was in a meeting and she could try to help if I didn't want to wait. After trying to help me she told me that I had to see the manager to solve my issue, and that the manager was going to be in a meeting until 1PM. I find the unprofessionalism and the lack of managerial availability unacceptable, and after being with them for over 15 years I have decided to switch banks and opened an account with Taunton Federal Credit Union where I was treated as their most important customer and with the professionalism I was hoping to get from Eastern Bank.
