The bank saw fit to impose a 100 dollar a day limit on MY account even though I had more than 100 dollars in my account. Therefore, I had money that I couldn't spend. I was being declined in public, which is disgustingly embarrassing, and now, the day after Christmas, I am STILL buying presents for people. 1 at a time, provided they are under 100 dollars. So today I decided to call and see if I could get this lifted, as my account has well over 1000 dollars in it at this point. The person I talked to informed me it had to go before a committee to be reviewed and they would inform me by the end of the day and let me know the outcome. I just received my call and I am disappointed to say the least. I was informed that based on my credit rating (like that has ANYTHING to do with MY money in the bank) this mysterious committee (which has not been explained to me) has decided to continue to deny me access to my money. I first became a member of this bank when I lived in Warren. I loved the idea of supporting a small, local business. I still kept the bank after I moved to North Providence and now Warwick, even though it's been HORRIBLY inconvenient for me to get there if I have a deposit or something. Their online banking is terrible, archaic to say the least. It takes days for things to show up in my account, even debits. Yet still, my loyalty lied with them, and unfortunately, I did not get the same treatment in return. I informed the person I spoke with that I will be removing my money and closing my account as soon as possible. He simply said "Ok" and let me go. They didn't even offer to TEMPORARILY lift the ban. For a bank that has approximately 2100 customers you would think they would be a little more customer service oriented. I have a car that needs to be fixed, and even though I have the money to cover it I have no way to pay them! So now, I need to wait for their extremely slow system to finish processing my remaining credits, debits and checks I was forced to write thanks to the daily limit, then I need to find time to drive all the way there to remove the rest of my money and close my account. Then, I need to change EVERY SINGLE ONLINE ACCOUNT I HAVE which is about 10 as I am a small business owner who sells through many venues. Like ruining my Christmas wasn't inconvenient enough. Merry Christmas and good riddance I guess. Words can not fully express how disappointed I am. I'm really wishing I had left about 4 years ago when I moved.

I have been a member of this credit union for years. I recently opened a Certificate of Deposit…read moreaccount and was told that I would be notified prior to its expiration date. I never received any notification. Today, I went into the South Main Street branch to inquire about it and was informed that it had automatically been renewed twice. I told the representative that I was never notified about its expiration and renewal, and that I needed to withdraw some of the funds to pay for a previous obligation. She told me that she would inquire as to whether they would waive the penalty fee. She later called to tell me that they would not waive the penalty fee. I withdrew all funds and closed my accounts. I was charged over $400 as the penalty fee. I will never again use nor will I recommend this credit union to anyone.

She is also fantastic in problem solving and being a strong support. I plan on keeping all of my financial matters with Navigant Credit Union due to my ongoing experiences with herself and the entire team I've worked with which has been a truly wonderful experience. In the past I have dealt with the big major banks like Wells Fargo and always felt like a number and never seen or respected but not here. Because they would not provide quarters to me without being a customer, I opened a saving account…read more I receive a significantly higher interest rate through a Fidelity savings account, so I just left a few hundred dollars in the Navigant Credit Union savings account. I had considered transferring my checking over, but glad I did not. Since I only received a savings statement every three months, I was charged $15.00 for an inactive account. That was $5.00 each month. When I called, not only did it take me almost 15 minutes to speak with someone, but they were rude and unwilling to help. So I went to online chat. I asked them the same things I asked when I called. Will you reverse the charges, i'll make a deposit and stay as a customer. Otherwise I will withdraw my funds and cancel the account. Neither were willing to help. They both chastised me and said that it's listed in the new account documentation when you sign up. This is a document that is many many pages long. No notification saying "you're account has been inactive, please make a deposit......". So they are making interest off the money just sitting there, and now charging me money, which is now at $25.00 since the statement was 2 months prior. Most banks or credit card companies are willing to work with you - but all I got was chastised and told there was nothing they could do. Stay away - far away.

Lenoard Machado was our loan officer and he was a dream to work with. Funny, kind, and a very, very wise about the ins and outs of the mortgage game, Lenny guided us down the path to home-ownership. Len saved us time, money and a whole lot of hassle while working with us and if you are in a position to request a loan officer while working with Somerset Credit Union you should definitely talk to Len. SFCU also has a generous $500 cash back at signing policy which they'll use to shave down the end closing costs a bit.
