For example, our debit card number was stolen but the problem was resolved with no cost to us for the charges and we had new debit cards in hand the next morning. Cash-back and fee-free checking ftw. The interest rate on the account could be higher (.05 is definitely not competitive). Of course BofA used to charge fees left and right, and I don't remember any interest or cash back from them. Seriously, I see all these rotten reviews and I couldn't have had a more opposite experience with this CU.

I called and was told that the machine that makes payment books were broken. I was sent a cut out coupon that contained the info needed to identify my account when I send payment. Strike 2 I was given a savings account with the loan. I sent would send money to account. I got a check for $300 and was told the account I received was not to be used for savings but to identify the account. I opened a savings account. Strike 3 I retired in 2024. I tried to close the account but was told to leave it open I case I needed to get a loan. I didn't do anything with the account for a year. I got to check the $200 is gone! I got no notices or anything!! $200 may not be much but to a retired person it is. Definite crooks! Consumer beware!!

It's the bank policies and bank machine I found completely frustrating. First, the bank machine was out of order the two times I needed to use it, which were random times. When the machine did work, it did not allow me to withdrawal anything but multiples of 20. I don't like a machine to tell me what I can have - if I need 50, I don't want 60. !!! Second, the on-line website required specific numbers/letters/symbols for a passcode like every other secure site, except theirs was such an obscure sequence that I never could remember my password and UN-like other sites, none of my computers or devices would remember my passwords despite me ticking the box "remember me" and so every time I needed the bank I had to reset my password. Third, the branches were not prevalent. So I could not find one to use it. The branch in downtown Ferndale, has only street parking which is always full. Not again with Huntington Bank.

PUBLIC ALERT!!…read more Normally when I do business with a company and something negative happens I do not instantly go and give them a bad review because everyone has an off day. However, I am putting 5/3 Bank on blast for what I experienced this past two weeks. I received a check from a family member and deposited it in the bank. 5/3 without due diligence automatically flagged it as fraudulent, blocked me from accessing my account and was told that my account will be closed within 30 days. I found this out after trying to access my account the following day. After spending 15 hours on the phone between the bank manager Harvey and the fraud department, they finally determined after finally doing there job that the check was not in fact fraudulent but that they were still keeping my account locked until said funds cleared. I learned that they had the funds from the issuing bank for days but that they were going to keep a hold on my bank account and all funds until the pre-determined block was expired. 1st, they had no right to hold my account hostage and second, no right to continue to hold my account hostage after they knew they had the funds. Today, I wake up after said hold was expired and tried to use my debit card and it would not work. After calling the bank, I was told they had closed out my debit card for not using it for six months! Really!?! I had just received a new card not even a month prior because the last had expired. I was told that the bank could do nothing about it because it came from the back office and that a new card would be issued expeditiously. However, expedited means 5-10 business days! Unbelievable! I was with a credit union for 20+ years but due to moving away for a few years I had to change to a bank for easy access. I never had any issues with the credit union. If you value your money and not wanting it to be held hostage, please NEVER DO BUSINESS with 5/3 Bank. Needless to say I have already opened an account with a credit union.

Even though they showed the payment on the account, they still charged me the fee. I talked to the representative via phone and he verified everything and said he could not waive the fee and suggested I go to the branch. I asked the representative at the branch and was told they could not waive the fee. I asked him to call the mortgage department which he did with the same results. I requested someone higher in the organisation, and was connected to a supervisor, who only echoed everyone else. For a $20.00 fee they lost me as a future customer and didn't seem to care. I will not deal with 5/3 in the future and will advise all my friends and associates the same.
