I had contacted in advance to ask what I needed to do, because my mother recently passed and my brother and I were beneficiaries on the account. It was my impression that beneficiaries are added to an account for a smooth transition. I was told I would be sent a bereavement packet, so I wouldn't have to be inconvenienced In my time of grief. So I waited for the bereavement packet to arrive. After about 10 days I decided I better go in. I brought an official death certificate, and ID with me. I was assisted for over an hour with a daunting process of having to receive 1/2 of my mothers account, because my brother and I, both credit union members, myself a retired teacher, could not just take over the account. We had to each have separate distributions. Since the amount of my cashiers check was so large, I was asked to come back after all the approvals were completed. I was told I would be called on my cell when I should come back to pick up the check. After about an hour I was called to come and get my cashiers check. I returned, checked in and was asked to sit in the lobby. I waited in the lobby for about 40 minutes and watched people come and go. After 40 minutes, I was called up to reception and told that they received approval so I should get in line for the teller. I got in line behind several people, all of whom I had watched come in while I waited in the lobby. I am disabled and in extreme pain while standing. I finally went to reception, now ticked off and asked why I was standing in line after waiting for so long and being told all was approved when I was called to come back. They explained because the teller has to cut the check and someone else sign it. They were oblivious to what I was asking. I was so pissed off now, that I only dealt with the manager to get my check and get as far away as I could. Admittedly, this was a lot more money than should have been In a credit union, I seriously think my Mom had put it there to make things easier for us. I have still not received a final statement to see what was in the account and confirm the distributions were as expected. To add insult to injury,now a month later, I got that mail telling me what to bring in with me as the beneficiary. The letter states that it is their pleasure to assist me at this difficult time. It then continues to refer to some other person's account! They didn't even copy and paste the letter completely! They put my mom's name once, then referred to someone else! I share this so you know, if you need accuracy, and customer service DO NOT go to Schools First FCU,especially if you plan to use the PalmDesert branch!

I keep my account here, all those years, cos of the calendars, and I came to this branch for the first time, as I was driving thru Rancho Mirage, just to pick up my calendars. What's so special about the calendars? Well every year the calendar features only one scene a different artist, who depicts something in Riverside County, such as a historic place. After all those years, or even just 2, the calendars all look alike, and you have to look at the same artwork for 12 months! But the special feature of their calendars, is they have large boxes that you can write all your appts, AND THE PAPER CAN BE WRITTEN ON IN PENCIL. I document my entire life, almost every day for the last 37 years, on this pencil friendly Provident calendar Yes, almost all calendars have photos on glossy photo paper, that you cannot write pencil on, and still SEE what you wrote, and you can erase it with pencil eraser. Provident's calendar is just on regular paper, but pages are heavier stock. Also the calendar has only 6 pages, so not heavy. AFer half a year, you flip it over and the months continue on backside. Every year I look so forward to starting a new calendar, but they only come in after Thanksgiving, but I have things to write for next year much earlier than that, so I wish they'd come out amonth before Thanksgiving. 5 Yelp stars for Provident calendars! She is always so helpful and handles any issues I have, with the utmost expediency. Nikki, my business banker, has a perpetual smile and is always so kind and gracious. The whole staff make you feel like you are the only customer in the room. I have been banking with this crew for more than 20 years, and I cannot possibly see that changing anytime soon! But even better, when my personal account was recently hacked (by an outside party who was arrested within 24 hours) they really stepped it up, immediately blocking outside access, dealing with over 20 false debits, getting every one of them reversed within days and opening a new account for me.
