Excellent work on a driveway fence! A few things I really appreciated:…read more 1. Very efficient planning and communication 2. During the free consult Alejandro was clearly much more engaged in actually solving my problems. Example: the fence needed to be low enough to see over as I back out of my driveway, for safety reasons. Alejandro held a tape measure at various heights and various points as I backed out. It seemed obvious to him that this was the right thing to do, but no other contractor I met with did this. 3. Construction was done in a single day (7 hours). 4. Sometimes I work with contracting firms where an attentive sales person asks about your project, and then a separate team (plus an annoying game of telephone) comes to actually work on the project. Not with Maldonado! At least for now Alejandro is not only figuring out the design with you but actually building the fence 5. Alejandro made several AI renderings showing the different options, which were quite helpful. I'm surprised more people aren't doing this 6. Above all I got the sense that Alejandro cares deeply about doing great work. We would absolutely work with them again

Of course, I called Maldonado Fence Co., and Alex said, "No problem, I'll be there next week." I told him exactly what I wanted, and as usual, he delivered. Would I recommend Maldonado Fence Co.? Of course I would -- and I already have to many people. Alex is a true craftsman, and his work shows it. He is reliable, extremely professional, and always gets the job done.

Great final product, but requires extreme customer oversight and persistent escalation…read more I'm giving 2 stars based on severe communication failures and installation hazards, though I do want to credit management for eventually making things right financially after significant pushback on my end. Here is the timeline of what it took to complete this $1,985 fence project: Scheduling Disruption: The project manager asked to move our start date up to Thursday. We rearranged our personal schedules to accommodate them, only for the crew to cancel Thursday morning. - No-Show & Cancellation: The PM promised an ETA for Friday morning but never followed up. After waiting half the day Friday with no crew showing up, my wife and I officially canceled the project. - Unannounced Arrival: Management called Friday afternoon to discuss the cancellation, agreeing to hold off processing until Monday. However, on Saturday at 10:00 AM, installers showed up at my house unannounced with materials, claiming I had approved the start time. - Personal & Work Conflict: Because the crew showed up unannounced, I had to scramble to find work coverage for my on-call shift and cancel our weekend plans. I chose to let them proceed to avoid wasting time and materials. - Workmanship & Safety Concerns: I had to personally supervise the crew to ensure they followed my installation notes. After completion, I had to hammer down exposed staples, remove dangerous exposed nails, and clean up loose hardware and sawdust left across the backyard where my young daughters play. - Resolution Process: Over the project's duration, I was handed off between **three different project managers**. When I brought up the issues on Monday, the PM initially offered a lowball $100 credit. I had to firmly decline, detail the full list of safety hazards and schedule breakdowns, and demand a 15% discount. - The Verdict: To the manager's credit, after I pushed back hard and requested senior management review, he approved the 15% discount ($297.75 off), bringing the final total to $1,687.25. The fence is up and looks good now, but getting here required three days of canceled personal plans, finding last-minute work coverage, cleanup labor on my part, and heavy negotiation to receive fair compensation for the inconvenience. If you hire them, be prepared to manage the project closely yourself.
