Further down, a stage was set up for live performances. There were performers from all age groups, singing, rapping, dancing, you name it. Definitely a family-friendly show with some pretty impressive acts (some more impressive than others). I had to drop a star for the lack of food variety. It may not sound like a big deal, but seriously, my choices were fried fish, fried chicken, or fried shrimp...or the other booth with fried fish, fried chicken, or fried shrimp...or the other booth with the same exact menu. There was one other booth with jerk chicken and that was pretty much it. I may not be African American, but I found this to be a little offensive. There is so much more to African American cuisine than fried foods and I didn't feel like any of that diversity was represented. I settled for a plate of fried fish with mac and cheese and greens...all mediocre.

For $6, I got to see such a great show on a great stage, support local Jersey City artists and performers and also just hob knob it with some local artists and great peops from the community. Now, if you are expecting a theater like setting (i.e. Broadway or NJ PAC) that is not the venue. They have a great stage with audio and lighting with 3 rows of stadium style seating. It's professional, intimate, and super underground and makes me happy that a place like this exists in my community, let alone a few streets away. I'll definitely be checking out a ton more live performances now that I know that this gem is definitely authentic, professional, unique and just straight cool.

We were looking for a family friendly live show in NYC and this was a fun activity to take our kids…read more(ages 6, 9, and 11) to check out. We purchased tickets online before coming, but we saw that there were a decent number of discounted tickets on TKTS on the day we went. The theater is small and felt very intimate, and we had seats in the 3rd row. They have an opportunity to get a photo inside a bubble for $20. It turned out ok; in the future I'd probably just upload a pic to chatGPT and ask to put us in a bubble. The guy who hosted the show holds a few guiness world records (largest bubble made and most people in a bubble) so he had some solid bubble master credentials. His uncle also provided some comedy. The last portion there was a really random laser show that a women did; it was high energy and lots of strobing lights (so be warned if you're sensitive to lights or loud music). The best part was the audience interaction and our family was able to go up and participate, which totally made my kids entire NYC trip (especially when they gave each of them a bubble toy afterwards as a thanks for participating). LOTS of bubble opportunities and you will get wet just from sheer bubble volume (hence the "gazillion"). A fun, memorable show for everyone!

In 1989 the building opened as a Loews Cineplex multiplex. It was redeveloped in 2002 from the six-screen cinema to a five-stage theater. Going through several operators It's now owned by the Shubert Organization. The show I saw was nothing short of hysterical, "The Play That Goes Wrong." Clever script, talented cast, great set -- what you see on stage is NOT what you get -- two hours of slapstick. The only fault I found was the timing of two neighboring stages. Both shows let out the same time with a hoard of people heading toward the exit. BTW, the venue is handicapped compliant with both an elevator and escalator. A woman with a large therapy dog sat behind me. When I turned my face I was eye-to-eye with Fido! But he was a 'good boy' and I didn't mind.

However, Genie was the star of the show not Aladdin and Jasmine. Genie was funny and elevated excitement to the show. There were two songs, A Million Miles Away and A Whole New World that were sang together by Aladdin and Jasmine together but both songs were not harmonious or impressive. The seats were very small and the ushers let people in when shows were in progress.

Brought the family to see Stomp over the weekend and it was a blast! We were so excited to watch…read morethe show with our kids that we had seen almost 30 years ago, seeing the awe and wonder on their faces was so worth trekking through the snow covered streets. Before I get to the actual show (and what some may view as a spoiler), lets talk location. It's right there on 2nd Ave bet 7th and 8th near St Marks, so lots of dining within walking distance, pretty much any type of cuisine you can want. You can find street parking, depending on the day/time of show, so if you don't feel like paying for a deck, arrive early to search for a spot and make sure you read the signs to avoid a ticket. The venue is small, but seeing as the show has been around for 30 years, you shouldn't have a hard time getting tickets. What's really nice is, when we got there for our matinee show on Sunday, they had extra seats right up front that they upgraded us for free to! Now on to the show (SPOILER ALERT)! If you didn't know already, Stomp is basically a musical where no regular instruments are used, everyday objects you find all over like brooms, garbage bins, lighters, luggage, and newspapers are used to make noises into song. With that said, it is very loud! There is also quite a bit of laughter as some characters on stage are humorous and there is some audience participation as well, so if you like that, listen for your cue to join in. Definitely a show for all ages if you like music. I'd be happy to see it again!

After a mildly disappointing gospel brunch, and standing inline for 30min unsuccessfully to get…read moreunclaimed Hamilton tickets, we strolled to the Redbox ro see if there was a show we could catch before our 630p bus ride out of the city I noted a 430 show (which I honestly thought was Sister Act) and we decided "why not". It's only $45, it's an hour and 27min long, and within a block from our bus pickup! Talk about awesome and blessed timing!! The theatre is aside/under the Luke's church, which is about two blocks down from Times Square. Tiny intimate and no bad seats, we lucked up and chose the 7th row which actually is the first row of the first/only riser. It was a minimal crowd so no one was in the row in front of us anyway, but we would have had views a few inches above their heads (hint. Choose 7th row seats). Theatre was maybe 1/4 full for this 430p Sunday afternoon st Patty's day, but that didn't deter the performers. They were on point as though they were facing a crowd of 1,000 at the Kennedy center! The singing and dancing were great. The story interesting. Each character having their own demons to deal with and beautiful voice to push them out. Touching African American history and women's history and entwining it with jazz and blues and r&b was awesome! It was the highlight of the one day outing to NYC. A seriously unexpected pleasure. A highly recommended gem -affordable -convenient - intimate. The crowd was rocking and singing and all enjoyed. It's small. So don't expect orchestral accompaniment - there's one guy and he's in charge of pressing buttons to make sure the music comes on when it's supposed to. And he never missed a beat. The entire play is in ONE room/scene "grandmas attic". And there's no real costume changes. But despite this, one isn't "bored" nor anxious for a change. The conversations and song flow naturally and keep you engaged and interested. Not too slow nor fast. Not too conservative but not rancous either. Well rounded. Well written. Well acted. Well sung. I can only hope to stumble upon more "off Broadway" pieces like this one when I return on occasion this summer

This was my second time seeing the performance and I can't wait to see it again! The theater is small and intimate. And the talent is HUGE! Each member of this 5 woman cast pulls you into their personal story and every cast member blew me away with their own unique powerhouse voices! It is a history lesson rolled up in a celebration of family, heritage, and sisterhood. This time around I saw it with 3 generations of women in my family. We decided that next time we will be bringing all three generations of the men in the family

My recent NYC trip was made because of the NYC Ballet's $30 under 30 program. Our local friend had…read moretold us about it and I'm so glad to have learned about this amazing program. If you are 30 years old or younger, you are able to purchase tickets to the ballet for $30. You can register online ahead of time, but know that our IDs never seemed to get approved online, so we still had to go in person to purchase the tickets. You are able to only purchase two tickets under your name and you must have your ID with you for this program. We went for the Balanchine + Wheeldon show which was incredible. First of all, this theater is beyond beautiful. It was a really rainy night, but the beauty of this theater helped me forget how wet we were from the rain. You are able to take stairs or an elevator to your floor. The ushers were extremely kind and helpful. The seats themselves were pretty comfortable. I love how angled the seating was. As a shorter person, this can really obstruct my view, but the overly angled seating helped remedy this. The ballets themselves were incredible. Each one better than the next. It was such a magical night. I highly recommend visiting the this ballet.

The staff were friendly and helpful, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. I sat in the First Ring, Row C. While I would've preferred Row A, those seats sell out very quickly, so I definitely recommend purchasing early. Overall, I felt the tickets were worth the price. The dedication and hard work these ballet dancers put in much of which we don't see behind the scenes make the final performance even more impressive. Truly a memorable night.
