There are many furniture venues throughout NC but we stuck close to home. In and out of the many stores in Franklin we were disappointed by the high cost of furniture which most touted "man made wood". What does this mean? Well the charmless furniture was not wood, not appealing, looked like molded plastic and expensive. We found one place that had nice, well-made furniture to our liking and actually crafted using wood. The selection is small but we were able to purchase two highly crafted nightstands for the same cost as the charmless pieces in other stores. It is a family run business and the furniture is made in Tennessee. Some pieces can be special ordered. I would have given 5 stars as I would have liked more choices; I would have purchased many more pieces!

This is one of the few such shops that I have visited that truly has a great balance between contents; not too much of any one type of item but enough of all items. I found their prices to be reasonable and their merchandise to be in good condition. The store itself is arranged well and is not cluttered. There are 3 floors and I didn't see an elevator so fyi on that. I read the other reviews and I will say that when I entered the shop, the gentleman in the front did not address me or even look up for that matter. I did greet him but he did not respond nor did he acknowledge my presence. Instead of jumping to a negative conclusion, I assumed that perhaps he couldn't hear well and went about my shopping. There was a lady in the store as well who was working on a piece of furniture. She seemed kind and she and I exchanged pleasantries. The only note I would make about a shopkeeper failing to acknowledge and make a shopper feel welcome is that it truly does make it less likely that the shopper will ask questions; especially if they are on the fence about an item. Such was the case for me today. However, it didn't effect my opinion of the shop overall and it will not keep me from coming back. Other notable points: wide range of items from vintage to what appeared to be newer items in the Chippy Cottage section. Good selection of vintage/antique tools, primitive furnishings, dinnerware, lighting, unique pieces, ironwork, collectible glassware, and so much more. This is most definitely a place you should visit if you are looking for well selected, well kempt, and reasonably priced vintage and primitive finds. Like I said, I will be back!

However, this is the second time this has happened to me and it needs to me known before you place an order. On my first order a year ago, I ended up having to travel to Asheville and Waynesville to finally get my sectional and recliner off the floors after being told it would not be delivered as promised but would take months to receive. This week I ordered a table and chairs, was told there were 13 in stock and it was first come first served. So I ordered one of the 13 in stock and was told I could pick up on Friday. Today I get a call saying the 13 were already given out and that I would now have to wait until March. 3 months to wait on an order I was told I would have this Friday. It's just really poor business practice. First come is what I was told, my name should have been attached to one of the 13 available upon signing my contract! SInce this is the second time this has happened to me this seems to be the practice of Badcocks to sell on the promise of short-term and then call you to give you the bad news of having to wait for months to get what you ordered! Very unhappy with the business practice of Badcocks!
