I could have made the reservation a day + out and people would be parked there. I've seen driver's be told to move, they drive through the parking lot, and then park back in those spots. Or those rude driver's ask the driver's with reserve spots to move. If that doesn't work they physically break into your rig and move your tractor and trailer. After searching reviews for about an hour while my husband drove I felt this would be a safe option. I think we arrived around 11:30 a.m. and it took at least an hour to get our food. There weren't that many people in the restaurant, but it still took a long time. I ordered a club sandwich and I had to take most of the mystery meat out of it other than the bacon. The cold cuts looked weird and translucent. We probably would have been better off scrounging for something to eat at the Flying J.

Instead, we found super-clean bathrooms (old-school style, on the outside of the building), a neat little service station with a small convenience store (GREAT coffee!), and a proprietor who was friendly, honest, and genuinely interested in his customers. James is the real deal: a Southwesterner who likes what he does and works to ensure a good experience for the people to whom he provides service. The station is virtually the last convenient stop before leaving I-40 and getting on to Hwy 54 toward Dodge City. Because of that, the prices could be a lot higher, but instead they're extremely competitive, which is a relief for the traveler.
