Polite staff. Prices rang up old price instead of sale price but they corrected my bill right away. No diesel gas

Update for 2026: The store's muzak has not improved, only…read moreseems to have gotten louder and still unintelligible. Not only are the songs bad, the speaker channel settings are all messed up. Why not just turn it off? Today, I witnessed a riding dog in a shopping cart for the first time in this store. The employees didn't seem to mind. This is a red flag for the health department. Otherwise, the store is clean and employees helpful and friendly.

Nothing like spending $150 on groceries to be treated like a thief in the self checkout…read more We were using a large canvas bag to put the majority of the groceries in, it was pretty full so my daughter was holding the straps of the bag so it stayed up. Doing that set off the flashing light and the self-checkout clerk came over irritated and said we were moving the bag too much. So we adjusted and started a new bag but the light went off again, not sure what we did wrong there but she played back the video to make sure we didn't take anything than stood behind us the rest of the time which was pretty uncomfortable. I looked at her and she made a snide comment about how we needed extra help - she wasn't helping, just rolling her eyes and watching that we weren't stealing This is my daughter's neighborhood store but neither one of us will be returning. And yes we know how to operate a self-checkout but should be able to touch the bag we're using without the whole system repeatedly stopping.

I love a bargain! I always like to shop at Grocery Outlet Bargain Center. There used to be a…read moresmall one in Morro Bay and I would shop for all the small parties I gave in my classroom each year! This large store in San Luis is located in the Laguna Lake shopping center just off the Los Osos Valley Road, so it's a little trafficy to get in but there's plenty of free parking and even shaded spaces available. There's even a special veterans parking space right near the front door. We made a visit the other day so I could get spices to cook some turkey Tikka Masala with the leftover Thanksgiving turkey. This is the only place I've found recently that has individual spices. They still sell them by the individual spice like oregano or thyme or majoram, Most places now have one spice called Italian seasoning or pumpkin spice or barbecue spice and you don't know what the combination is. Since I actually cook things from scratch, I want individual spices and this store has them at bargains prices. Today I got chili, turmeric, oregano, and more cinnamon since it's the cinnamon season! I also enjoy the display of little seasonal gifts that they have available. I got a couple of cute soft socks for my secret Santa pals and scouted out a lot of little stocking stuffers for my grandkids.. When I was a student )appreciated the small sizes of gourmet cheeses and could offer a very nice cheese plate for a lower price than I would've had to pay at other stores. They also have all kinds of crackers,, snacks, and fresh produce, right when you walk in. Paper plates and party supplies are also plentiful, so it is a good place to visit to prepare for those holiday parties. I also got a large size of fresh crumbled feta cheese as well as a plain low-fat yogurt, which has a wonderful homemade tangy flavor. This place is perfect if you do your cooking from scratch because it has all the basics at affordable prices!

After we grabbed our cart and started looking at prices, I assumed the "HIGH" prices were because this was California! Smart & Final frequently mentions no store membership. Are they referring to Kroger type stores where everyone with a phone already has a membership? No idea but our next stop was down the road at Von's. I wished we had stopped there first. We would have saved money. We found the folks friendly and the store clean. It was just much more expensive than what we had expected. At least now we know.

I decided to wait because I saw the timer on the oven said 11 minutes. Well, after about 20 minutes of waiting, Dawn came to check on them and stated that they weren't ready yet. She said it was likely because one of the larger chickens isn't cooked through. She offered to check the internal temp of one of the smaller chickens and pull it out for me if it was done. This worked out and I was able to take the chicken home for a family dinner. While preparing a casserole with the chicken my Dad kept steeling bits of the chicken because it was so good. This happened two weeks ago and tonight during family dinner my Dad brought up how good that chicken was. Thank you Dawn for going above and beyond!

It could have had more chicken, and some pico would have really added to the flavor. I had two shrimp tacos and one fish taco. The shrimp tacos were amazeballs. All tacos were crammed full of protein, cabbage, mango (shrimp ones, that is). Shrimp tacos are way better than the fish. I think they used talapia or catfish - two fish that always taste a little muddy to me). Overall, very happy with the dining experience. Macy was a great server. Answered questions pleasantly with knowledge. She was attentive but not intrusive. We are outside because it was a little noisy inside. The plexiglass on the short walls outside really cut down on the ambient noise. Thank you!

This last weekend, we went to take milk back (it's a specially processed $12 gallon of milk) because it went sour. It was purchased just 5 days before it went bad and the expiration date wasn't until May. Of course, we got about 3 cups out of it when it was opened once and then two days later, reopened it and it was sour & would not froth. One of the managers refused to take it back and said "well it's halfway gone." Well yeah? We used it for a recipe the day we got it AND it wasn't supposed to expire until May. It was just 5 days later that it went sour. No issues with improper temperature in fridge. It was NOT left out. No contamination issues. It's not about the money. It's about not only a health hazard but the way it was handled. No refund, no solution to the issue. The manager shrugged and sent me on my way. I will no longer shop here and suggest others don't either. So disappointed.
