Cleaner and more efficient. Particularly, their beer selections now include many local microbrews. Best of all, they replaced all the gasoline tanks that were old. The new tanks are state of the art Their sandwiches are well made, lots of meats and fresh vegetables. As well, they have the only car wash in town. And they employ local kids who would have to travel long distances for employment.

Customer in front of me asked the lady about it and she moved the mask below her nose. She looked like she was going to spit in the sandwich as soon as the customer wasn't looking. I was in there to order 5 sandwiches for a family lunch, but decided for our health not to and instead just bought a couple of bottles of water. Jake's lost around $50 on us that day for everything we would have bought for lunches (sandwiches, chips, dessert, etc.) Today I returned. Two customers walking around not wearing masks. I asked the nice cashier about it and she confided it's wisest for her not to comment on masks given some people who come would not take it well--and I knew precisely what she meant. Some pretty motley looking folks seem to frequent Jake's. A red-faced swaggery customer behind me--not wearing a mask--overheard me ask about masks in the store, and he starting taunting me for the type of mask I was wearing. I decided I didn't want to be anywhere near someone like that, or be in that store, so I left. Other than this clear problem with masks and sometimes quite seedy looking people working in the store (not the female cashiers who are nice and seem pretty normal) and sometimes pretty creepy looking folks hanging around the parking lot, Jake's has really good coffee, an interesting and wide variety of foods, and their homemade sandwiches tend to be delicious. You can also get Vermont made ice cream and home-baked dog biscuits, and other assorted things. When I got back to my parents' house I mentioned what happened. My brother said he'd never go to Jake's for that reason and my Dad said their friends don't go there anymore due to lack of masks (they're older).

Zero rating. I live next door, been going there for over a year. A week ago…read more i bought a half gal. of OJ, and swiped my card to get $10 cash. Two hours later, at home, I realize I never got my 10 bucks. No mistake, haven't changed my clothes, gone out, just home, dinner, upstairs. I stopped in next morning talked to the guy back where the food is made and deli counter. He said stop in tomorrow (Friday) the bookkeeper is in. I talked to another cashier and a former cashier who us a bank teller at my bank. Friday i talk to Jimmy, the owner, who is a bit odd, friendly sometimes, just not warmed up to him for over a ysar. Jimmy said, well younshould have come in right away, i did, very next morning, well I don't know, and its your responsibility . . . . What? Mybresponsibility to watch out for your employee errors, to be sure they put all mt groceries in the bag and make the right change. I asked if the cash drawer came out high from the register comouter tally, he said no. Which tells me the cashier may have realized the miss and pocketed the $10. It's not about the $10. It's about the customer service. About trust. About the customer. -Three days ago, in Price Chopper Insee expensive Frusee lettuce marked $4.99 /lb. I checked w the produce guy, yes, thats correct. About $4, not $9.98. At the register I'm charged $9.98. They send me to the customer service desk, this is 2nd time this mustake gas been made. She counts out $9 in bills, hands it to me. I ask about the other 98 cents. She tells me, I'm giving you the 2 heads of lettuce for a dollar. Fir the error, no harm done, never left the store, I get $9.98 of lettuce for 98 cents. - I don't shop at Proctors General Store anymore unless it us small or I absolutely need it. I've spent maybe $400 on morning coffee and another $1000-1500? in the last 13 months. No more. Zero Stars. I never have seen such stupid behavior from a business owner. I never asked for the $10, I just to.d him the story. Never got a spec of service or hint of, I'll talk to my cashiers, we'll look into it, nothing The CoOp store has us sign the slip when we get cash back. Its a reminder that another step is to be taken. Cash back. A former customer. ZERO STARS.
