Decent size bathroom with a huge walkin shower

Stayed here over the weekend for our wedding. Check in was very easy and quick, same with checkout. Staff were friendly and attentive during breakfast. Beds were comfortable Only downfall in case of emergency, there is no phone in the room for room service or emergency services. Shopping, breakfast and other dining areas in close/walking proximity

Greetings! My spouse and I had the good fortune of staying at the Circle Hotel -- twice in the recent past. We had so much fun! Our rooms were medium-sized with two Queen beds, in each nautical-themed room. Maybe it's partly because my Dad was a Greek sea captain, but we quickly felt "at home." With that, we found this hotel to have a warm and welcoming energy, largely in part to John's caring demeanor. He checked us in both times (when we arrived). It was lovely to be greeted and cared for, by such a kind person. And Vlad gave us a parting gift in the form of a big smile the next day! We appreciate the staff there who helped to make our stay special. Also, the continental breakfast is simple yet delightful. While, tbh, I'd enjoy a non-egg protein option (maybe a bowl of almonds and walnuts or something like that?) it sure beats the basic coffee and carbs offered by some establishments. Lastly, we found our rooms (both were on the second floor facing toward the "pool side" of the hotel), to be quiet -- which was a needed respite from city living. We also appreciated the view into an open marsh on the backside of the hotel, which provided our eyes and minds with a replenishing mental health break. Overall, we had a terrific time there (the photos speak for themselves), and we hope to return in the near future. : ) Thanks, all! Best, K & G

Thankfully we did not have any issues with this hotel. It's more like a motel with ample parking, relatively clean rooms and a convenient fridge in the room. There is a supermarket and McDonalds across the street and a Dunkin a few feet away. We are inclined to stay here again when visiting SHU.

A little bit of everything from the hotel stay!

I recently stayed here while visiting my daughter and my grandchildren. She has three now under four years old and it's a lot for me so I figured I'd get a room and go back-and-forth! The rooms were clean and they have a nice spread for breakfast definitely a strong three stars! the mural on the wall made for some pretty cool pictures. They could use some improvements around the pool area. Otherwise the staff was great and it's a quaint little Motel that became convenient stay. The restaurant next-door is cute. The service was good. The food was mediocre at best and it is also close to a grocery store, Whole Foods Marshalls, and walking distance shopping, I enjoyed my stay and it was fun for the grandchildren to visit.

We booked this hotel for a random weekend out the city , it had a good location & the price was reasonable. We had room #21 right across from the pool which was nice. we settled into the room nicely, nice comfy beds, has a mini fridge , they give you water bottles & provide good toiletries. The Pool was nice to relax in , decent size better if not a lot of people since at least it doesn't feel crowded. Aside from the pool not a lot to do at the property which is not bad , if you are just looking to kick back & relax. The "downtown area" as they called it is about a 20 minute walk , One Beach is walking distance as well like 15 minutes & there is a nice diner a 2 minute walk all a convenient short walk or a short drive. The hotel does have a motel feel to it the way it is set up but unlike a motel this place was nice & clean, lounge area inside was nice, staff was helpful & friendly, we had an enjoyable weekend stay.

Very spacious, and clean. Beds were comfortable. Reasonably priced. We liked the kitchenette that included real dishes, coffee mugs and there was a sponge, dishwashing liquid under the sink. TV was a bit wonky, but no big deal. Ample parking. We will most likely stay here again.

This was a very disturbing place to stay I stayed for a wake and funeral the end of December 2018 There were ants all over the bathroom and when I showed the front desk-- they said they would take &10 off. I couldn't even sleep or shower in that room

    Pink drips

This hotel was convenient only. Beds were very soft (the material in it felt like the foam pieces in a my pillow-pillow, and sagged in the middle. This pink liquid drips were all over the wall and very obvious in the bathroom behind the bathroom door. And touch up bonding and paint not done in bathroom. But the worst and most concerning to us was this literal black mold in the groove on wall behind toilet and next to the tub. We ran a hotel by the beach and cleanliness is most important so you don't get your guests sick! Please clean the walls and keep your guests safe. That lesson should have readily been learned during Covid if not before! Room 66.

1-Star Review Avoid…read morethis hotel if you value your safety, privacy, or belongings. After spending the night, I discovered that my room door never actually locked. Anyone could have walked in directly from the hallway at any time. I immediately notified the front desk, and an employee accompanied me to my room and confirmed that the lock was defective. The disturbing part is that I had cash and other valuable personal items in the room while we were away, completely unaware that the room was unsecured. Thankfully, nothing appears to have been taken, but that doesn't excuse the hotel's failure to provide one of the most basic expectations of any hotel--a room that locks. What happened next was even worse. I was told the manager would be contacted, but when I returned to the front desk, I was simply told there was "nothing they could do" because it was a technical issue. No apology. No offer to move us to a secure room. No compensation. No sense of urgency or concern that a guest had been staying in an unlocked room. A broken room lock isn't a minor inconvenience--it's a serious security failure that puts guests and their property at risk. The hotel's complete lack of accountability and indifference to the situation was shocking. I've already reported this to Best Western corporate and disputed the charge with my credit card company because I don't believe I should have to pay for a room that failed to provide even the most basic level of security. This experience showed me exactly how this property responds when guest safety is compromised, and I won't be returning.

Having said all of this, the lack of front desk staff is unfortunate. Supposedly there from 8am-8pm but often not present. After 8pm things can get very loud in the hotel hallways. My siblings and I are planning to gather in Lordship Township, which is part of Stratford,…read moreConnecticut, to celebrate my sister's birthday in January 2025. Our family has gathered here for about 30 years, for holiday dinners at our mom's house, which is in Lordship Township, right on Long Island Sound. For all of those years, those of us who traveled from a distance would stay at Marnick's, a locally owned hotel that's right on the beach near our mom's house. Our mom passed a few years ago and I hadn't returned to Lordship Township since then. On a whim, browsing online for hotels in the area, I learned about The Surfside Hotel. I learned that Marnick's had closed and that a while later Surfside emerged, sporting a whole new vibe. Prior to committing to recommending a sibling gathering there, I spent the night last week at Surfside. I'm happy to report that the upgrade is impressive. While the rooms now cost more than they did when Marnick's owned the place, the prices are well within reason for the area. I took an Amtrak from D.C. (about 6 hours), paid about $12 for an Uber/Lyft from the train station, and arrived to meet Iona at the hotel's front desk. She took my information and offered that she'd been there for about 2 years and the present owners have been there for about six years. All the features of the hotel appeared to be solidly restored and improved upon. I had a second-story room (21) with a balcony looking out to the Sound. There was a complimentary coffee bar with self-serve coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fruit, and snack bars. There's a beach-reading library, so I contributed my copy of Rachel Kushner's recent novel, "Creation Lake," which I finished reading on the train ride from DC. There were no downsides. There's a decent efficient fitness center that includes a Peloton and free weights. There's a map of the area suggesting pleasant walks along the seawall, Russian Beach, the Prospect Light House, and Long Beach Gatehouse. There are paths taking hikes of two miles, 3.6 miles, and five miles, and a suggestion for a longer bike ride. The main reason for this visit was to see whether the siblings would be able to stay on site for meals. There's a well-populated bar and restaurant attached to the hotel called The Little Pub (see my Yelp review.) There's also a neighborhood Italian restaurant and bar half a block away. There's a deli and an adjacent pizza parlor three blocks away, where I picked up a single slice of pizza and a portion of carrot cake. The Lordship Corner Market is right next to the pizzeria, and has sandwiches, newspapers, and sundries for days at the beach. For those with cars, I can recommend the Cricket Car Hop, a mile or two inland, for great hot dogs, burgers & fries (it was a favorite of my mom's, and we went there just about every time I visited, but I wasn't in town long enough this time to visit). Things to keep in mind: Surfside is a small business, not part of any chain. Iona needed to know when I was likely to arrive, to be sure someone was available for check in. No one was at the front desk when I checked out (but I received a check-out acknowledgement shortly after 9 a.m. the day I checked out). I believe pets are welcome (I saw a service dog there as I was leaving in the morning). There are no elevators, and my room was on the second floor. The hotel is still using single-use plastics for the shower, and the tub lacked handholds. But the vibe is good . . . we get the aloha and mahalo greetings, suggesting Hawaiʻi roots. The innkeepers report that "Boy knows nothing about running a hotel, but restaurant comes with a hotel attached so it's all or nothing. Boy must convince Girl it's a good idea. Girl is not impressed. Boy breaks into song. Girl is impressed and says YES! Restaurant and hotel are redone, there is singing and dancing, and everyone is happy." True Romance! Mahalo

I booked a reservation on Booking.com, and I was sent a confirmation email along with a message from the hotel itself confirming my reservation. The receptionist informed me that there was only one room left in the hotel, but it was a king size, and I'd booked a queen. The receptionist also called Booking.com, and confirmed my reservation there as well.Even though the Hilton website had been experiencing technical difficulties that evening, my reservation was still confirmed several times via email. The receptionist called the supervisor, who told me that I would have to purchase the king size room, even though I had already paid for two nights from my queen reservation. It's unfortunate that the supervisor was not able to honor my stay being that I frequent this hotel, and my reservation was already paid for in full. Not to mention the fact that I also had my young child with me as well. I will never be staying here again.

I was told, much to my surprise and displeasure, that it had not been working for 2 years! The website said it was "temporarily out of order" when I booked the room. I hoped it would be repaired by the time of my stay, not realizing the serious of the situation until I arrived. The woman at the front desk told me she had been trying to expedite the repairs with management. I told her I would also let the Marriott Corp. know that I would like very much for them to make the repairs ASAP. The hot tub ends up being a deal breaker for me on future trips because, considering the price differential between this hotel and others nearby that are reasonably clean and comfortable, the hot tub benefit is what justifies the additional cost. That is only because of a good government employee discount I get at Marriott hotels. If not for that, this place would most likely not even be within a reasonable price range for me, but with that discount and the hot tub available, it's a deal worth taking. There are other benefits to this hotel, compared to others in the area that people might consider worth paying an additionally for, but for me, the hot tub is the one that matters. The interior at ground level and the exterior grounds are both excellent. The on-site restaurant is good and not exceedingly expensive. So if they reopen the hot tub I will jump to rate it a 5.
