The room at the Circle Hotel looked reasonably spacious and presentable when we first walked in, with two beds, a small desk, a refrigerator, and cheerful coastal décor. There was also that familiar seaside-motel smell--slightly damp and a bit dank--that lingered in the air. Since we were only staying for one night, we didn't think much of it at first. Unfortunately, a closer look revealed several maintenance and cleanliness problems. One of the beds had a torn sheet, the air vent was coated with dust, and the bathroom showed obvious neglect. The towel rack was covered in rust, and the caulk around the sink was cracked and deteriorating. These were not tiny imperfections you would need to search for--they were noticeable during an ordinary look around the room. There also didn't seem to be much sound insulation around the door or front of the room. Thankfully, our room wasn't directly against the road, but we could still hear quite a bit of traffic noise. There was some confusion over checkout. The gentleman at the front desk initially said I could have a late checkout at noon, but then told me checkout would be at 11:00. I'm still not sure why noon was offered if it wasn't actually available. That said, he was extremely helpful when we found ourselves in a jam and needed to print something. The hotel doesn't have a business center or dedicated work area, but he let me email the document to the front desk and printed it for me. I really appreciated him going out of his way to help us. For one night, the Circle Hotel was definitely good enough for me and one of my sons--although I'm not sure my wife would have agreed. It served its purpose for a quick overnight stay, but I probably wouldn't choose it for a longer visit. The room has potential and photographs well from a distance, and the helpful service at the front desk was a bright spot. However, the housekeeping, maintenance, and soundproofing all need more attention. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect, but for the price it wasn't this. It was like 300/night . We came here for a wedding, this was listed on the wedding details as an option. I booked as it was close to the area, but wish we drove a little farther and got something nicer. The lobby is nice, that's where it ends The room is cute (ish) but outdated, it smells like a musty hourly rental on some turnpike. Or some shanty on a beach. If this was on a beach I wouldn't bitch, but it shouldn't smell or feel like this. Couldn't tell if it was animals (which I love but don't want the room smelling like a wet one) The bed was not comfortable, there is a small fridge in room but no microwave, the a/c is an old PTAC that does not work well, woke up a couple times cause it wasn't cool enough. Didn't complain cause there was nothing else in the area and this place was apparently sold out, I assume all the rooms were like this. What a joke. A basic Hotel trying to charge like the big boys. I booked travel through my jobs site. I payed more on my personal card than the company paid for my two day stay. I cant get reimbursed for this bull because it should have been included in the corporate reservation. When I called some smart mouth lackey tried to tell me about all of the amenities they provided like parking, pool, free breakfast and wifi. The only thing I tried to use was the wifi but it was too slow for my company's VPN to keep it connected. I stayed there in the past and was satisfied but with this new pricing model I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. I will also report this to my company's travel company to make them a third tier company. We were visiting family in Fairfield and wanted to stay at the Delamar, but it was sold out. Based on reviews, the "next best" option that comes up is the Circle Fairfield. The owner describes it as a "...boutique hotel, and our room layouts face outward as part of the property's design," however it really is just a very expensive motel. We paid over $800 to stay there 2 nights, but checked out after 1 night and ate the cost because it was that bad. The pictures make it look great, but we were in a double queen with kitchenette room in the back building, which is a motel with cars that pull up and park immediately next to and facing the beds. Bright fluorescent lights and headlights pierced into the bedroom at night, and in the morning you can't raise the blinds without people and cars looking directly into your bed. The towels were raggy and falling apart and the bed sheets were ripped, and when we told the owner about this, he replied that their staff is available 24hr a day and would have replaced them if we asked. There is no vent fan in the bathroom. Fairfield is such a nice town, it's surprising that the quality of their lodging offerings are not commensurate with the prices they charge. Do not be duped like we were into thinking that we would get the quality, comfort, or peace of mind that comes with the high price tag at the Circle Inn- it is just a very expensive motel that doesn't deserve the price tag. read more

Greetings! My spouse and I had the good fortune of staying at the Circle Hotel -- twice in the recent past. We had so much fun! Our rooms were medium-sized with two Queen beds, in each nautical-themed room. Maybe it's partly because my Dad was a Greek sea captain, but we quickly felt "at home." With that, we found this hotel to have a warm and welcoming energy, largely in part to John's caring demeanor. He checked us in both times (when we arrived). It was lovely to be greeted and cared for, by such a kind person. And Vlad gave us a parting gift in the form of a big smile the next day! We appreciate the staff there who helped to make our stay special. Also, the continental breakfast is simple yet delightful. While, tbh, I'd enjoy a non-egg protein option (maybe a bowl of almonds and walnuts or something like that?) it sure beats the basic coffee and carbs offered by some establishments. Lastly, we found our rooms (both were on the second floor facing toward the "pool side" of the hotel), to be quiet -- which was a needed respite from city living. We also appreciated the view into an open marsh on the backside of the hotel, which provided our eyes and minds with a replenishing mental health break. Thankfully we did not have any issues with this hotel. It's more like a motel with ample parking, relatively clean rooms and a convenient fridge in the room. There is a supermarket and McDonalds across the street and a Dunkin a few feet away. We are inclined to stay here again when visiting SHU. read more

I recently stayed here while visiting my daughter and my grandchildren. She has three now under four years old and it's a lot for me so I figured I'd get a room and go back-and-forth! The rooms were clean and they have a nice spread for breakfast definitely a strong three stars! the mural on the wall made for some pretty cool pictures. They could use some improvements around the pool area. Otherwise the staff was great and it's a quaint little Motel that became convenient stay. The restaurant next-door is cute. The service was good. The food was mediocre at best and it is also close to a grocery store, Whole Foods Marshalls, and walking distance shopping, I enjoyed my stay and it was fun for the grandchildren to visit. read more

CHECK OUT THE BAD REVIEWS! BED BUGS AND BLACK MOLD! NO THANK YOU!! June 2024 Had a three day reservation all set to go a month ahead of time. The morning before our travel and check in date, I decided to look at pictures of the property posted by other visitors. Unexpectedly, I ran into the photos taken by other guests showing clear evidence of bed bugs and black mold! Naturally, I was very concerned, and so I called to address the issue with the front desk. The attendant was nice enough but I was not convinced that they had eliminated the problem as he reckoned. Eventually, when I insisted I just wanted to cancel the reservation, and get our money back, I then contacted the general manager of the property - Rick Emery - who basically was TOTALLY rude, dismissive and even dared to accuse me of making the whole thing up! UNACCEPTABLE! I sent him attached photos of the reviews to show him and got no response. That said they kept our $270+ dollars of our money, so I decided I needed to warn others so they did not make the same mistake. The morning after our arrival to Fairfield, we ended up having to go to the lobby of Circle Hotel to pick up a package we had sent to us there - prior to canceling our reservation - and we both noticed the lobby smelled heavily like chemical toxic pesticides. I don't want bed bugs, I don't want black mold and I don't want to be breathing toxic pesticide residues! read more

We booked this hotel for a random weekend out the city , it had a good location & the price was reasonable. We had room #21 right across from the pool which was nice. we settled into the room nicely, nice comfy beds, has a mini fridge , they give you water bottles & provide good toiletries. The Pool was nice to relax in , decent size better if not a lot of people since at least it doesn't feel crowded. Aside from the pool not a lot to do at the property which is not bad , if you are just looking to kick back & relax. The "downtown area" as they called it is about a 20 minute walk , One Beach is walking distance as well like 15 minutes & there is a nice diner a 2 minute walk all a convenient short walk or a short drive. The hotel does have a motel feel to it the way it is set up but unlike a motel this place was nice & clean, lounge area inside was nice, staff was helpful & friendly, we had an enjoyable weekend stay. read more

This hotel was convenient only. Beds were very soft (the material in it felt like the foam pieces in a my pillow-pillow, and sagged in the middle. This pink liquid drips were all over the wall and very obvious in the bathroom behind the bathroom door. And touch up bonding and paint not done in bathroom. But the worst and most concerning to us was this literal black mold in the groove on wall behind toilet and next to the tub. We ran a hotel by the beach and cleanliness is most important so you don't get your guests sick! Please clean the walls and keep your guests safe. If you're visiting Fairfield, this is a solid option for a place to stay. In my experience, the lobby staff is very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy the convenience of the diner next door (open late so super handy when you've got hungry teenagers staying with you!). It's pretty easy to get to the beach and 95 from here. I think the hotel was renovated a few years ago and it's probably due for a touchup on some of the room items (the little table and the shampoo dispenser in my bathroom were both a little worse for wear). As long as they keep up with maintenance and continue to provide good service, I will continue to stay here on my visits to Fairfield. read more

Bed bugs!!! I stayed in room 71, of the "new building". We planned a Mother's Day weekend with my kids and woke up Friday evening at 1am to a large (10+) bed bugs crawling around the walls, the pillow, the bed!! It was literally like a horror movie, this is the only way I can explain it. And after leaving the hotel at 1am, my call from Rick the manager on Monday was awful. He told me that the videos he received from the night clerk "didn't come through" so he wasn't sure if it were bed bugs. I let him know I had also taken videos and photos too. The night manager Gary was just as hotties as we were and felt awful that we were leaving to drive a 4 hour drive back to Massachusetts at 1am. He offered to accommodate us to another room at their other chain "Hi-Ho" but I wasn't able to wear any of our clothes, nor could I trust the chain for cleanliness. I asked Rick if they were able to cover the steam cleaning of the interior of my vehicle because I was worried I could have brought bugs home. I was already dry cleaning and washing my clothes and items from the trip over the weekend. I had a quote of $200 for the interior to be steamed. I asked if he could pay the company directly and I'd make the appointment. Rick scoffed at me, he was absolutely unprofessional and I couldn't believe that he actually scoffed on the phone with me. Rick basically told me that after my entire ordeal he could cover my minivan to be vacuumed because there was only a "slight" chance I transported any bedbugs. I'm so dissatisfied with this manager and how this was handled. My entire Mother's Day weekend was ruined and all I get is an option to "vacuum my car"- Thank you Rick. I also asked who else I could speak to, Rick let me know he was the top, and he wasn't able to tell me who owned the hotel chain but that's the only people above him. read more

For the price, it was a pretty bad experience. The room was well decorated but most of the bathroom was outdated. The bathroom kinda felt like it belonged to a gas station. The floor of the tub was cracked and water was leaking in below it, the shower head was an outdated and rusty looking thing that just sprayed water everywhere. The stains on the floor, walls, and sheets were really off putting. The noise from the highway made it hard to sleep and the a/c unit blasted air on us all night which was rather uncomfortable. Normally I do not like to leave bad reviews. I've stayed at Fairfield Circle Inn and woke up with bug bites and didn't complain. The room is also not insulated and you can hear everything going outside. My family owns small businesses and know how unfair reviews can hurt business but my experience with them regarding a change in reservation was atrocious. I've actually stayed at Fairfield Circle Inn on a couple of occasion as I'm attending Fairfield University and commuting from NYC to attend school. I used Hotwire to book my reservation for a night in June only to find out that I would need to stay at a later date. Knowing Hotwire has a no change to reservation policy, I thought it'd be best to call Fairfield Circle Inn directly. I spoke with a gentlemen the day after I booked the room (10 days before my actual stay) and was told that I could switch it to the following week on a day I actually needed and that the confirmation number would stay the same. I show up late on the day that I was told the reservation was changed to and was told that there was no reservation change made or record of it was made. On top of that, I was put down as a no show for the original reservation date and was told to pay 200 dollars to stay in a room. If you see the pictures, Fairfield Circle Inn is not worth 200 a night. The clerk at the front desk told me I had no proof that I actually called and refused to contact a supervisor or manager to remedy the situation. As I walked out, another hotel patron told me a similar issue occurred with her too where she was marked as a no show despite her writing an email instruction notifying them of a late check in. I ended up staying at a friend's place that night rather then shell out 200 dollars more. The following morning I spoke with Racquel the manager who promised she'd get Hotwire to refund me money and that she would call me that day. I received no phone call from her and over the next 4 weeks, I called back twice and never was able to get through to her and never got a call back from her as promised. I finally had to show up in person to speak with her and when I told her I never heard back from her, she claimed she left me a voicemail. When I questioned why she never called back, she said she is very busy. Racquel told me that Hotwire won't refund me money so she can't refund me money. She herself would not refund me money directly nor would she give me credit for a nights stay despite their mistake and that I had to get Hotwire to issue me a refund. In the end, she walked away from me and told me it's out of her hands. I am appalled by their service. Fairfield Circle Inn is a local inn that banks on business from Fairfield University's students and family and to be treated in that manner and insinuate that I'm a liar was embarrassing. Furthermore, the inn itself is extremely old, dirty and dingy. If you guys plan on staying there in the future, I implore you to get the name of everyone you speak with and written copy of any changes to your reservation. My mistake was attempting to deal with this over the phone and trusting that Fairfield Circle Inn would be a moral business who would stand behind their words. read more

3.5 stars. Exactly what I was looking for in a one night stay: clean, affordable in a convenient location. Close to the I95 and Bridgeport which is where I needed to be the next morning. This hotel was surprisingly modern with decent amenities. The toiletries were eco friendly. The mint chocolates on the beds were a nice touch and the beds are high and super comfy. The staff was really nice. Complimentary breakfast included pastries, muffins, bagels, bread, peanut butter packets, hot cocoa, coffee/tea, and a waffle maker. The website is very misleading in stating it's an updated boutique hotel. The room was clean, but very plain. The nightstand and desk was just old water stained wood. Nothing "boutique" about it. Just plain bedding no headboards or throw pillows or anything to give it any particular "style." The bed was as hard as the floor. Thankfully everything was clean looking and smelling. Coffee maker was dirty inside. Small TV. Clock didn't work - it was 3:58 the entire time we were there. There needs to be more lighting in the room. Nothing special about the place. My husband surprised me with a stay here after searching online. He knows I like boutique hotels. He was disappointed with the actual room after checking in, apologizing profusely to me for the room not being nicer as advertised. It's a pretty good area. Close to the little downtown shopping area and restaurants. Definitely go to the Plan B Burger Bar down the road. It's freaking delicious!! We took a nice walk on St. Mary's by the Sea. Also went for a nice hike at The Cascades at the Mohegan Lake with our dog - which is a great off-leash trail! If it had been half the price, we'd might have let things slide but seriously, Motel 6 would have been a better choice for less than 1/3 of the price. The property management is very arrogant, with 0 customer service. We stayed here for my nieces SHU graduation. Hotel staff was accommodating with our special requests and very friendly. They offer complimentary Continental breakfast with good coffee. We liked the easy access to our vehicle. The rooms are a good size however the drawer space is only a desk with small drawers and bedside table with drawers. The front desk did have extra hangers for us. Cute New England property and perfect easy access to I95. We would stay here again. read more
