I first went to Rudy's Auto Repair, only to find out that Rudy had recently passed away and they were closing up shop ( Thanks Yelp! ) I asked if they knew any reputable mechanics nearby, and was told that Rafael at Regal was trustworthy and a great mechanic, so off I went to see Rafael. He took care of all of Bertha's ( yes, we name our cars....) problems, all at a reasonable price and he is just the most pleasant gentleman I have ever met. At the end of February, Bertha got a rather large crack in her windshield, so we decided to take her to a " specialized" (yes, I am looking at you Broad Auto Glass...) shop to get it replaced. Last week, as I am whizzing on the I-10, the entire black seal around my windshield came undone, nearly causing a little drama. Being a flight attendant, I always carry duct tape, so I stop on the shoulder and tape the damn thing up. I ask my pilots and airplane mechanics if I can continue to drive Bertha as is, and they look at me as if I am insane. Apparently that was a big no. I thought I woud just go back to Broad Auto Glass, and give them a piece of my mind and get this little problem fixed, but come to find out that windshield replacements are only under warranty for 30 days... Are you kidding me? No way am I going back to those quacks and give them my money. So off I go to Rafael this morning, he takes one look at the windshield and tells me that whoever replaced my window had done a crappy job. I told him it was a "specialized auto glass place"...... Rafael replaced the window, fixed the sealing all within a couple of hours and much cheaper than Broad Auto Glass. If you need a really great, trustworthy mechanic and a gentleman who treats women who come into his shop ( hubby had to work and knows nothing about cars! ) with resepct and kindness, than please go see Rafael at Regal Auto Repair!
