From Amarillo to Galveston, looking for something out of the ordinary, we some how ended up at the Texas Ranger and glad we did. Clean, comfortable, quiet and a very rustic feel the owners have done a great job on the place. Gary and Paula, the managers, did a great job of making us feel at home. There isn't much around. We brought dinner with us (micro wave in room) and enjoyed dinner with a view after a nice swim in the pool. One thing that is not mentioned on their web site is that the room are adjoining, which is perfect if you have kids. Next time I'm going have to you the bbq area. It looked fun. Enjoy you stay!

The rooms are clean but look like something out of the 40's or 50's with the exception of the large flat panel TV on the wall. The continental breakfast is also something to forget in fact on one of my 2 visits to Ballinger the staff got up late and were only beginning to make the coffee at 7 although they claimed to start the continental breakfast at 6.

I couldn't ever bring myself to shower in it. Disgusting! I tried this place because it was cheep and had better reviews than the other hotels in town but those reviews must have been posted by their friends. No matter how bad the other hotel's reviews, it will be better than this place. The management was attempting to make things better but new beds and bedding does not make up for mold and filth. I read one review where the owners responded, saying if there was a problem they would have moved you to another room but almost all the other rooms were empty so I assume this was about as good as it got. For this awful experience I paid $72 and was not even offered a receipt.
