The second smaller screen is very intimate and is enjoyable when it is quite empty but I find it quite annoying if it is full up and there are people chatting or messing around. This is my one complaint about this cinema, I have seen quite a bit of silly behaviour from groups of teenagers and I know that this can be difficult for staff to deal with. I do much prefer this cinema to the big cineworld in Ashford for atmosphere and price, the only reason we would go to ashford is if the film we wnted to see wasn't on in Folkestone.

The seats in the larger theatre are a little small and uncomfortable but the ones in the right hand theatre have been replaced. What I love about this place is they still have a reasonable policy on charging for popcorn and sweets its only a little more than the shops, whereas at the larger multiplexes you end up paying more for a drink and pop corn than you did for the theatre tickets. This place is never a busy as a multiplex and its great for when you want to go to a new release film but cant be doing with the crowds at the multiplexes. Friendly staff, although it is upstairs so not good if you are disabled or need help.

Tickets are cheap, movies are great and some cult favourites are often played here. It isn't glam or grand, based in a lecture theatre at the university, but you tend to be able to see great, serious film from foreign cinema, or some lesser known directors closer to home. It is quiet, clean and definately for the film buff, so it means you can watch what you like in peace. Free parking makes this a better bet than the Odeon in town and if you go to a cheap monday night film - it is even better value.

I like this place very much, mostly because, unsurprisingly, I like to be able to watch a film without people talking through it and it tends to attract film students and older people who sit in silence. As an added bonus you can park close by for free, which is unusual in Canterbury and there is a regular bus service into town.

The Kino Rye is built in a former Victorian school building and has won several design awards. There are three screening rooms that can also all be hired on a exclusive basis (the red, blue and silver rooms). I have never been so disgusted and humiliated in my life. The seat I had been allocated was not checked and the person in the prior film had urinated on it. I had been sitting there and only noticed till I got up for the first time at the end of the film that my clothing was damp. I have got the managers name (leon Francis) who was on duty last night. He said he could not do much or help assist in the situation that occurred at your venue. Which has resulted in me having to drive home in the same cloths. Which also means been in my car so now I will have to pay for the car to be valeted and also all my cloths taken to a cleaners. I am livid at this situation and disgusted at how poor this has been managed the fact I've had to walk around and drive home with someone else's urine on my cloths. I was eating in the seat touching it. This is incredibly unhygienic and am furious with the branch as nothing was helped to deal with the situation. A standard ticket is very expensive at around £12 a ticket. So for £17.50 a month you can become a Cineworld member and will have unlimited movies and 10% of food and drink. When to have this card you can book online. The trailers last generally for around about 30 minutes so you can always get in and watch the movie even if you're late. Free parking outside which gets filled up at peak times very quickly.

The one screen does limit the choice of films you can watch, but that's not a problem since you can only watch one film at a time, and there is as much legroom as any other place. The charm of the place, though, is its spirit. The Royal is one of those cinemas that we see in TV dramas from the 60s and 70s, with a proper stage, tiered seating and paintings on the walls. I've taken several people to The Royal, and all of them have since been back. It's worth a look, just for the experience, and the cheaper prices.

The seats were soaked in God-knows…read morewhat, the screens were covered in mess, there was popcorn everywhere, the projector was projecting wrong, there were balloons randomly in the theatre blocking the top corner of the screen. Their response was at least honest; "Unfortunately, due to the clientele in Romford it is difficult for us to maintain a consistently high quality" - and I believe them. The Vue in Romford is decent as Multiplexes go; but the problem comes when you find lots of kids who'd rather text each other across the room and make random turrets type noises than watch a movie. We used to avoid this by going to screenings at 11pm. But we found that although the kids were gone, their mess wasn't. I complained a much of times and to be fair to them, I got a few free tickets-- but it got to the point where I'd rather pay to go somewhere else and not have to sit on someones unwanted popcorn. Cinematically; the films are presented well; good sound and good size screens; but often you'll find coke splashed on screens or my biggest problem; holes in the screen (meaning shiny bright sparkling areas). A cinema that tries to be good but doesn't quite pull it off. Go elsewhere.

As Paul mentioned there is a lack of food, but to be honest there aren't many cinemas that do a huge range. As this is near a shopping complex there are a few places you can go to eat. I am a huge popcorn fan, and Vue does do tasty popcorn. The screens are good and the seats are comfortable, this Vue is great to watch any film =)
