Theater 1 isn't clearly labeled and you just have to know it's the large main room. The ordering system also takes some getting used to. You start with a QR code but at a certain point it cuts off and you have to handwrite your order on a paper slip and press a button to call your server. In a very dark theater that's not practical, and there's no confirmation that the button was actually pressed. Service was inconsistent. We ordered bottomless popcorn and M&Ms. The M&Ms arrived after about 15 minutes but I had to remind them about the popcorn, which didn't come until nearly 45 minutes into the movie. We skipped ordering real food because we weren't confident it would arrive in time to enjoy during the film. That said, the chairs are comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the pricing is noticeably better than other dine-in theaters in the DMV. It has real potential. Just go in knowing it rewards regulars more than first timers.

It's right by a metro stop but normally I drive to the theatre since parking is validated by the theatre. If you're arriving at the theatre early and you wanna kill some time, depending on what day you go they do Trivia at the bar which is great! Everytime I'm at a Alamo Drafthouse I feel like a VIP. The food is great especially the milkshakes -- never in my life did I think a movie theatre milkshake was great but here we are! The interior is extremely clean and the entire business looks and feels like an upscale movie theatre. You truly get a great cinematic experience when you come to the Alamo Drafthouse.

It was our first time going to a movie theater in Kingstowne, Virginia and Regal Kingstowne movie…read moretheater. We splurged at got the most high end movie experience we could have: RPX admission with recliners to see the Devil Wears Prada II . The comfort of the black leather recliners were satisfactory but not the best experience I had in other movie theaters. The other movie seating areas in this theater location did not have recliners and cost less for a ticket. The service was good. The place was clean. The two tickets with a Diet Coke at 7 PM cost us about $50. Yet, we hardly go to the movies. We went to see a matinee movie over a year ago at LOOK Cinema, a luxurious movie experience. What is RPX? And is it worth it? The online definition: RPX, or Regal Premium Experience, is Regal Cinemas' premium theater format designed to offer better visuals, immersive sound, and enhanced seating than standard theaters. Screen & Projection: RPX screens are larger than standard Regal screens but smaller than traditional IMAX screens. In many locations, they feature high-quality digital projection with 4K resolution. Sound System: RPX theaters use Dolby Atmos or a proprietary immersive sound system, which delivers deep bass and enhanced surround sound. Seating Comfort: RPX seats are plush, recliner-style chairs with more space than regular theater seating. Movie Compatibility: RPX screens support 2D, 3D, and high-frame-rate movies, making them versatile for different genres. RPX is designed for those who want a premium experience without the massive screen size of IMAX. Matinee movie on a weekday is probably more economical and less crowded. If you love watching movies at Regal, getting membership for a year of unlimited movie passes for $26 a month at all Regal Movie Theaters. Unfortunately, it does not include RPX experience. Overall, I liked how close the movie theater location was to our home and that it was the best movie experience I could have at that theater. The movie was excellent. The theater was peaceful and quiet. There seem to be no one else in the RPX theater room. Parking was free , spacious, and in front of the movie theater. Despite being Monday night, the parking lot was crowded after the movie.

The Good: The location is perfect for a night out, the wine selection is a nice touch, and the bathrooms were notably clean. The staff is also very friendly and professional, which I appreciated on a busy holiday! The Not-So-Good: * Seating: Very uncomfortable--there is no recline, which makes for a long sit. * Timing: The trailers didn't even start until 30 minutes after the posted movie time. * Popcorn: Even after requesting a fresh batch, it wasn't great. The kernels from the warmer had a weird black residue on them. * Audio: Once the movie finally started, the sound quality felt a bit flat and lacked that true surround-sound immersion. It's a convenient spot for new movie availability, but if you're looking for the full "premium" cinema experience, you might want to head to one of the other nearby Regal instead. Enjoy good people

I've seen two movies each at these theatres and for AMC Courthouse I like it but it certainly shows its age in some places for better or worse. Firstly I enjoyed seeing posters of older movies scattered in the hallway on display like one for The Silence of the Lambs adds a nice charm and while some find it tacky as a cinemaphile I think it adds charm especially since AMC has a habit of showing old films every now and then anyway. The theatre itself is small with only 8 auditoriums yet they're shockingly spacious. And it's a plus that this theatre is right next to the metro unlike Regal in Ballston Quarter which requires a bit more of a wall from the metro to get there. If you have a car there's a parking garage that offers free parking on the weekends. The staff and management are friendly and attentive. The first time I came to the theatre I saw a mouse before the movie started and I freaked out (and naturally so). When I went to management after they comped me a free voucher. I ended up misplacing it but the manager remembered me and still redeemed my free movie voucher for mt next visit. Great theatre and I'm glad this AMC is ran really well. I've def been to AMC locations that feel like they're being run to the ground. Not AMC Courthouse Plaza 8

I went early afternoon to see Disney's zootopia 2, so as anticipated there was a large mix of young patrons at the theater with their respective adult guardians. The theater I was in felt a bit small, but the seats were comfy and slightly spaced out between rows. The audio wasn't too loud and the temperature was pleasant. The theater did have a faint smell to it which I'm sure can be addressed after a good cleaning.

The staff there did not seem able to help anyone. It seemed there were about 3 different systems to order food. You couldn't order real food on the concessions kiosk, and you couldn't just go to to the counter to order food like in other theaters. You had to order real food from your seats, butt when we got to our seats, we couldn't see a food menu, but had to call a server (which we did, but they never came). Only after the movie was over, did someone tell us we could order food from staff. We asked this before the movie, and were told we had to order from our seats. 2. Staff seemed disinterested and lacked training. I had a question about food, as the QR code wasn't working. I went up to an associate to ask for help. At first they tried walking away from me, but I flagged them down. I know they saw me, since we looked at each other right in the eyes. They said "Just scan the QR code." When I informed them I did and it still wasn't working, I just got a blank stare in return. Luckily another person answered. They told us the kitchen was closed, and they weren't serving food anymore, which was incorrect. So we didn't get food until after the movie 3. I wasn't the only one with issues. After the movie, I ran into several customers who were very confused about the whole process of getting food, and lots of people had problems getting food and drink. 4. The food wasn't good either. Not that I expect a gourmet meal, but I expected edible food, as that seems to be known for. On a positive note, the actual theater was pretty nice. Comfortable seats, better than AMC/Regal. The screen was very clear. Overall, it seems the staff were very poorly trained, didn't want to help customers, and seemed very overwhelmed. This was not a pleasant experience for myself, or the people I was with. I doubt I'd ever come back to this theater.

Incredibly, I never ended up reviewing Arlington Drafthouse. I used to go there all the time when…read moreI lived in Arlington from 2014-2017. A lot of good memories here. Last time I was here was in March 2023. Representing February in this series, I went back to February 2016 without a Yelp review. I saw my old credit card bill had charges on Feb '16. When I lived in Arlington at this time, I paid for a year movie pass, & sometimes I would eat at Arlington Cinema & sometimes eat beforehand. Sadly, they were having financial problems in the later part of 2010's with 2nd run movie model as people were either watching movies new in the theater or waiting to stream. At some point, Drafthouse sent an email saying they weren't doing the movies anymore & just shows, special events, & the occasional themed movie night like a classic Christmas Story (at Christmastime) or whatever. I went for a couple of comedy shows & special events, but the vast majority of the times was for movies. Service was a bit of hit or miss. Sometimes the food took a while to get served, but the food was usually good. I got a variety of items over the years like the burger, sandwiches, wraps, wings, pizza, etc. Nothing was top notch, but nothing was bad either. It was on average pretty good. Servers were sometimes friendly, but not always. They are called Drafthouse because they serve Beer & alcohol, & I remember I put a few down back in the day! But in all honesty, I'm not sure I ever had more than one in a sitting; otherwise, I'd be drunk, broke, & even more broke needing to Uber home & Uber back to my car the next morning. So, I'd never do such a thing. There was one time when I lived on Columbia Pike in Arlington near the Fairfax County (Bailey's Crossroads) border, my car was in repair, & I was determined to see a movie that I want to say a Monday night & wanted to use my annual movie pass. So, I took the bus! The Columbia Pike line bus was very efficient, not much difference in timing as if I drove myself there. I continued with the 2nd run movies into 2017, but I moved from Arlington to MD in Fall 2017, so I generally stopped going here. However, I did continue to come on a few occasions for comedy shows. In 2019-2020, I was on INWEGO, which was an event based app, you paid $19 for one event in the month, $39 for 3, or $59 for 5. I generally did the $39 for 3, but sometimes did $19 depending on what they had for the month. It was cool things like concerts, plays, comedy shows, & sporting events. I took advantage of all of the above. My girlfriend at that time & her friend/other friend husband traveled from Wheaton, MD to Arlington on Friday, February 22, 2020 for a good comedy show. That was the only time I used INWEGO to go to Arlington Drafthouse. I joined INWEGO in mid-April 2019, & we know what happened in mid-March 2020. INWEGO sadly went defunct in September 2020 as they couldn't operate under the Covid environment. I joked the INWEGO era was the best 11 months of my life. I went on a couple of dates here over the years in the 2010's for movies. Prior to October 2014, I lived in Alexandria & sometimes went to Arlington Drafthouse. One time in January 2013, I had a first date at Lost Dog Cafe across the street & saw [deep breath] Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love the Bomb. We kissed at the end. So, that was a good example of a date. A funny example of a date was shortly after from February 2013 (see my November 2013 Bangkok 54 Yelp review), where we went for dinner & then a free comedy show. Here's that experience: "My experience was on Saturday, February 9 (2013). It was a date with an awesome black chick I met a couple of weeks earlier. We had a nice time & walked next door to the Arlington Drafthouse Cinema for a free comedy show in the Green Room. Check it out if you are over at Bangkok 54 or other area restaurants on a Friday or Saturday. During the comedy show, I had my arm around her, & one of the comedians pointed out to me in the audience & said 'you are a lucky guy to be with her. I never have any luck with black chicks. This guy is doing something right. We need to talk after the show.'. This made me feel great since it was only a first date. This was confirmation that the date went extremely well. However, we could never schedule a 2nd date. She later told me that she didn't feel the chemistry...at least she was honest, but after all that, I thought for sure it was an excellent date." Also, went here on another date in June 2016 & saw Zootopia here. My dating life was bad in 2016, & she was no exception. In January 2023, I went to a comedy show with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. I was bold talking to one of the female comedians who was local to the DC area, got one of the comedians Instagram & asked her on a date; not surprisingly no reply. Last time I went was March 2023 for Oscar party. Won a DVD in contest. Not a bad time.

We saw Elmo Phillips' standup comedy show at the Drafthouse (I'm old enough to remember when they…read moreused to show movie!), and he was a riot. Go for the show if you find it attractive, but come with measured expectations. The service is friendly and helpful, but the food is gross. Stick to alcohol, and you'll be fine.
