However, his assistants were friendly and warm and he was as well. I think he spent a thorough job evaluating my shoulder concerns and assessing the issues I brought forth to him. It was also interesting to have a diagnostic ultrasound on my shoulder to see what was really going on in there. I felt relieved to finally have some answers to what was happening with my wonky shoulders and he did a great job of answering all of my questions and concerns. I'm not sure if he does that with every visit, but for my visit it felt relevant. I also really like how he had an assistant documenting everything in the session - I felt like this made him more present and attentive. I've been to other medical appointments where the NP or MD has to document while assessing you and I feel like they end up only being partly attuned to what is going on with you. So this was a nice touch. I honestly don't want to be back (because that would mean that I would have another injury lol) but if that were to happen again, I most definitely would return to see Dr. Honsik. FYI, he also is a swimmer and he gave me some good tips on technique so that I don't exacerbate my shoulder issue. Overall, I am SO satisfied with this visit!

I'm a medical biller so I asked all the correct questions and was assured there would be no cost to me. I have received bills for over $400 per visit, three visits, that's over $1,200. They also hiked the price on cash pricing for other procedures. It's a shame because the doctors are great, but I'll not be giving Sutter another penny out of me after I pay this bill. You cannot call the office directly anymore either. You get routed to the Sutter operators.

I tried acupuncture, massage therapy, and physical therapy, all with no relief. I arrived on time for my appointment, filled out the requisite forms, provided intake information to the medical assistant, and met with Dr. Eppley within 20 minutes. We agreed to a simple procedure, which was also completed in the exam room. Melissa, a physician assistant, arrived and in a matter of minutes, I was done! Driving home I felt less discomfort and now two hours later, feeling much better. I'm retuning in two weeks for another treatment with Melissa. Today is a great day!

But in this case, I was given an appt a month ago and I grabbed the only slot that was available. Weeks later, his office called and said he is limiting new patients. Why did they set up an appointment in the first place? The appt was in 3 weeks. Now, I must find another doctor, and the wait will also be quite long. This is a lousy way to treat potential patients, but more important, it's a lousy way to treat people who are in pain. Make the appt or don't, but don't back out at the last minute.

His courteous and friendly staff actually answered the phone! and I managed to get an appointment the very next day. Amazing to me, he called in the evening hours of that first contact, before seeing me, after having seen x-rays and a brief history of the accident. He asked questions about my activity level, and explained what he'd assessed from having reviewed the films. Next morning, after taking more views specific to my injury so we could see how the fracture fragments had migrated into the joint space, I was eager to have him fix the damage not mentioned (or perhaps not seen) by the first flippant corporate MD. He even showed me a model of the plate that would hold everything back in place! Because of the time that had already passed since the accident, he and his staff created space for me to get into surgery that very same afternoon. Less than three weeks later, I have regained almost full range of motion and continue to be impressed by the thoroughly professional, kind and patient care provided by Dr. Cardon and his staff, who've guided me safely through all aspects of the healing process.

Initially, an assistant saw me and inquired on my complaint then a physician assistant, Diane examined, x-rayed then provided approaches. Since I have seeing a therapist for nine weeks, the logical step is having a cortisone injection on my trigger finger left thumb which I took. Hopefully this injection will address my issue and stay. A follow up appointment was scheduled in case this problem persist. All the staff were friendly, informative, knowledgeable and knew exactly what was needed. I'm glad I had this appointment and encourage anyone with arthritic hand issues to consult them.

I cannot say enough good things about LaFoot in Berkeley…read more My brother manages a grocery store and is on his feet all day. Recently he started having significant foot pain. As a nurse who has dealt with bone spurs and plantar fasciitis myself, I immediately told him he needed to address it -- both by resting and by investing in proper shoes. I've been trying to convince him to upgrade his footwear for years! I found LaFoot while scrolling Yelp. The name caught my attention, and when I read that it's owned by a physical therapist and staffed with students/residents in orthopedics and foot care, I knew this wasn't just a regular shoe store -- this was going to be different. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. Parking was easy (even on a busy day), and we were greeted by a tall, slender young man with glasses who introduced himself as a kinesiologist (I'm so sorry I didn't catch his name!). He was professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He had my brother remove his shoes and socks, observed his gait by having him walk up and down the hallway, and even demonstrated how my brother's current shoes were too flexible by twisting them. Then he brought out a Brooks shoe and showed us the difference in structure -- it barely twisted at all. He explained why that stability matters. They measured his feet the old-school way with a sizing device to ensure a precise fit. They also noticed that my brother's feet turn slightly inward when he walks, which likely contributed to his pain. What I really appreciated was how they used a skeletal foot model with bands to visually demonstrate what was happening. For visual learners, this was incredibly helpful and made everything make sense. When my brother tried on the recommended shoes, he immediately said, "Oh my God, these make such a huge difference." That alone told me we were in the right place. The exact color he wanted wasn't in stock, but they ordered it and had it shipped to his home within a few days -- seamless process. Yes, the shoes were $154. But when you consider the amount of time he spends standing and walking, and the importance of preventing long-term foot issues, that is absolutely worth it. Your health and comfort are not the place to cut corners. The professionalism, the education, the attention to detail, and the way they truly listened -- both to my brother and to me -- really stood out. This isn't just a shoe store; it's an experience rooted in understanding foot health. We left feeling confident, informed, and genuinely impressed. Highly recommend.

I have had a lot of broken bones and surgeries and hospital stays and orthopedic surgeons who have patched me up in the past to go on to do more stupid stuff. Luckily Dr. Zwahlen is here to help. Because of my awesome partner and I want to be around a little longer I have stopped doing stupid stuff like flying my experimental airplane, stopped rock climbing (and falling), stopped intense snow skiing/boarding (no moe flips), and stopped other activities from which I have some how miraculously survived (I may have more lives than a cat). Given that, I can still do stupid things in the gym. Recently trying to hang for a minute, yes all 60 seconds, I realized something was wrong and dropped at around the 45 second mark. I kept thinking it would get better and it didn't and was starting to think major jacked up rotator cuff and maybe surgery, again. Well after some imaging the good doctor determined "nothing was torn but very, very angry". So going forward, for awhile, no exercises engaging the shoulder except a few very detailed lifts. A lot of surgeons like to cut, that's what they do. So I appreciate it when the knife is not the first response and second when lots of drugs aren't the answer. Hhhmm, may rethink that last part. Already a week in with daily exercises prescribed by the doc my shoulder is much better and this is way better than rehabbing shoulder surgery. Two closing thoughts. If you are active you need an orthopedic surgeon on speed dial. Dr Zwahlen is the man. If you sit on the couch all day you need a dietician and a mortician. Also, before seeing the good doctor you might want to have a few esspressos to match his energy level.

I used to think the doctors on TV who really get to know their patients were fictional--but not with Dr. Beal! She takes her time, never rushes appointments, and genuinely listens. Dr. Beal is working with me to build a care plan that actually fits me--not a one-size-fits-all solution. I'm honestly so thankful that I had to leave Kaiser, because it led me to her.
