Cinco De Mayo was a yummy experience. The place is open year round and it's BYOB! (Win!) The decor is cheesy, which I love, and very comfortable. All the wait staff were very friendly and the place is very well-priced. You get complimentary tortilla chips to start with three dips: pico de gallo, refried beans, and another salsa- all of which are very good. I ordered the shrimp and scallop burrito. It was amazing! The rice and beans that came with it were great too. Everyone at the table loved their food. My boyfriend got the Fajita Burrito, which was enormous but also very tasty. Do not skip desert. Get the fried ice cream- you won't regret it. Try it out. Cinco de Mayo is a nice casual restaurant that's great for the whole family. read more

Food is really good & Reasonably priced!! Don't let the old hand made sign out front fool you into thinking its a dive because its NOT! It's small but clean and the wait staff is very friendly. Sometimes the kitchen can be a bit slow. read more

Fantastico ! We came with a group of 26 people and they're able to manage this. The food was nice. Definitely nice place to go. Thanks.

Small BYOB restaurant on the way into (or out) Cape May. The decor is very interesting but don't let it scare you away. The food was fantastic. Very fresh and full of flavor. We will be back to this location. read more

Food was good but service was well below sub par; they were not very organized. We requested chips and salsa a few times before getting it. Also, we brought a bottle of wine and they threw out the cork so we had to drink the bottle (we were hoping only to have a glass each over dinner). The kicker was that the ended up charging for each order of the salsa dips that we asked for (which by the way didn't arrive in a timely manner, particularly the chips which we requested 3 times over) . Surprisingly poor service with not much "interest" in customer service and they weren't busy when we were finally seated. Not worth the service and hidden charges. Never been charged for salsa at any Mexican restaurant I have eaten at. Would have left a decent tip but the extra hidden charge for salsa rubbed us the wrong way. read more

First time back in a while - no particular reason - just busy - but everything good! Same family running the place. Food was very good. Chips and salsa perfect (especially the green sauce). Cheese enchiladas with green sauce and combo with pork tacos and chicken enchiladas all good. BYOB so load up on beer or pre-mix margaritas. Erratic on service but they try hard so relax and enjoy the food. read more

I don't understand how this has 3 stars. When I went here the service was very poor. We sat for about 50 minutes waiting for our food to come. When it finally arrived it was sub par, low quality meat and mine was covered in a sauce that was absolutely foul tasting. I wanted to love it here, but I left hungry. The pricing is not bad though. read more

Cinco de Mayo, you had me at 'wet burrito". Chicken and cheese wrapped up in a huge burrito and topped with homemade mole sauce and sour cream. Every bite was divine. My family also enjoyed their meals but I am still dreaming about that mole and wishing I lived closer. Service was good, prices reasonable for a vacation town. read more

Mexican food is always a diy laxative for me. This restaurant was anything butt... lol but in all seriousness, this place has the best Mexican food I've ever eaten out, it's homemade and everything! read more

Great food after we asked for new chips as the ones that arrived first were completely stale. OK service.

I feel like the recent spate of good reviews must be the result of a paid media campaign... particularly the reviews touting the mixed fajitas as the "best ever" etc. I made the mistake of reading the new reviews and ignoring the old reviews along with my gut about this place. It was nearly empty when we walked in and in spite of this, our waitress seemed like we were putting her out every time we needed anything. In addition to the unpleasant service, we had 3 entrees (2 different fajita platters included) that were all somewhere between tasteless and fairly bland. I had the 5-de-mayo fajitas (mixed fajitas) and if those were the best that anyone has ever had (as stated by a recent reviewer), then I would guess they were the ONLY mixed fajitas that that diner had ever had. Avoid. read more

Agree with the poster about the surprise bill!! They charge you for water, extra chips, salad dressing, refills on soda ALL WITHOUT WARNING YOU!! Surprised they didn't charge for the napkins. Not sure how this place will stay in business with several quality restaurants in the same area. Save your money and eat somewhere else! read more

This is by far the worst Mexican place I have encountered!! I ordered " Carne assada" and my wife the "beef fajitas" . My plate was mediocre at best, the steak(carne assada) was a very thin peace of very hard meat, with a very bad taste. The fajitas were terrible. It seemed like the meat was only nerve ends, very hard and chewy. I politely made the waitress ware, but to no avail. She seemed upset and not welling to remedy the situation. We paid and left to go have dinner some place else. read more

They seat you pretty quick but then they forget about you! The food was NOT worth the wait!

A little gem a friend recommended while down around the Cape May area.. The bi-steak tacos's were authentic and really tasty a long with a great staff. The cool thing about this place is the BYOB so after leaving Cape May Brewing Company are group brought the beer inside here to drink while enjoying dinner. The cost was perfect for the quality and location. I will def return here if I'm in the area and craving some Mexican food or change of scenery from my local restaurant's. read more

Everything was surprisingly really good. Got an order of nachos, a couple of fajitas and a quesadilla. Not a complaint to be had. If I had to complain it would be about the "any 3 dinner" and the rice and beans. The portions were a tad small. But all in all a good experience. read more

This place is amazing family run. Food was delicious o will recommend it. The food is authentic and the staff is great.

Ok passed this place a hundred times but never went in. Finally in the off season on a rainy saturday night I had a taste for tacos. Walked in and found a very clean festive atmosphere. The aromas from the kitchen will get you hungry if you weren't when you walked in. Assuming BYO since no liquor license. Decent crowd fir a dreary off season night. One waiter who worked his tail off taking care of the customers. Told me it could be 30 minutes for 2 orders of tacos. Ok a little long but better than saying 15 minutes and wait 30. The tacos were excellent and price very reasonable. Certainly worth a return visit. read more

Might have been decent, but after standing at the front door for 5 mins without being greeted. We ventured down town instead. Granted it was only 345, but we were hungry and was in the mood for Mexican food. read more

The food is amazing. The restaurant is a small, hole in the wall with a very unique look and feel. Five stars for sure!! Try it out!

Waited an hour for our food! There were only 3 people in our party and our dinner choices were not complicated. People that came in after us got their food first. Waitress never even came by to refill our drinks or apologize for the delay. Food was ok but by the time we got it we were frustrated and angry. read more

Couldnt pick a negative star rating, I would if it was an option. cleanliness was ok, but the service was horrible. Waiter was rude. We were not served even water for 20 mins. Then chips and food came out at the same time. Burritos we ordered were cold inside and not heated through. Knowing that the burritos are not made to order and heated with sour cream and avocado is disgusting. Anyways, aside from the horrible experience, there was something weird about the full length mirror in the ladies room, it was placed right next to the toilet, it didn't make sense to have a full length mirror when there was another small one over the sink. I doubt it is a two way mirror. BEWARE ladies!! read more

Fun family byob, you can hang and enjoy good American style mex..fresh tasty, reasonable...big delicious portions

The food was okay, but the service was horrible. The restaurant was half empty and we waited 40 minutes for our food. When we asked about it we were told that they had a party of 6 they were serving and that we weren't the only ones waiting and that's just how it was! This came from the hostess. We told our waitress how rude she was and while she apologized we still got a full price bill. read more

Literally same experience as reviewer Matt below. Never received guac when told "I'll bring it right out", also waiting almost 1 1/2 hours for our food because the waitress said "there was a mix up with tickets, what do you want me to tell you, you know?". We're laid back so we stayed, ate (my food was good, my bf wasn't a fan) but when we got the check no percentage was taken off or offered (I assumed it would be a given considering other people sat after us, ate and left before we got our food). I politely asked about a discount and was met with utter rudeness and a blank look with a statement "uh for what?" And "no ones ever asked for a discount before". My boyfriend and I were completely confused by this response and then we had words back and forth due to their complete unprofessional approach to business. The waitress who turned out was really the manager initially stated "I don't do discounts I'm just an employee". She then stated "I didn't charge you for the guacamole" which literally was the smallest ramekin and came out an hour and a half late anyway. The frazzled guy helping out throughout the night decided to jump in by asking us rudely "well, did you eat it?". Obviously not getting or not wanting to address the fact that YOU FORGOT ABOUT OUR FOOD. I thought I was on a reboot of Candid Camera. The woman then stated "I'll give you 15% off" to which my boyfriend declined, not even wanting a discount anymore from this joke of a restaurant. He then slapped a nickel on the counter for her "service" and as we finally were able to leave she yelled out "you need it more than me". Give nicer people your money, go elsewhere especially if you want to have the rest of your night to do things. Never in my life has this ever happened, and it was really uncomfortable having to get into an argument with the manager no less. Learn to own your mistakes, that's all it would have taken for us to understand and leave on a positive note. read more

The food was really good, the portions were also big enough. We ordered mixed fajita and it was really good. Our friends ordered some other foods all of them great as well. read more

We had dinner at cinco d mayo in mayo, 2015. The service was perfect and the food was much better than I expected. We had the chimichanga and camarones a la diablo. We look forward to eating at cinco de may again the next time we are in cape may. read more

Delicious hands down! My kids say best food in the world!!! Fresh tasting. BYOB. Very affordable. We are from NYC and sort of food snobs. This mexican food rocks! Love it! Definitely recommend coming here while on vacation in Cape May or even if you live here! YUMMY read more

This restaurant been on our good list for past few years. Each time we visit cape may, we eat here. But past 2 time we been there not great experience extra star is for salad which was pretty good. Service is very disappointing here. Our waitress brought food did not look at us once. First of all there were about two other families eating, when we order our food came about half hour later, she finally brought soda which was completely flat. The workers are just not happy to be there. We won't be going there again. There are tons other restaurants in cape may. read more

We went here expecting to receive an awesome meal based on the reviews and the location. When getting to the restaurant it was not packed with only a few people and families being served. It took about 45 minutes to an hour to receive our meal and our waitress did not come once during that time to our table to see if we needed anything. Our food was good but i don't think we will be going back there again. read more

Got a recommendation from the wonderful lady at the winery ... Very cute and comfortable place... Family run business!!! The chips and dipping sauces they come to the table with are delicious ordered guacamole and American style steak soft tacos... Sooo good!!! Definitely recommend!!! read more

Want to begin with saying I've been in the hospitality industry for 50 years and have never seen anything like this. A few days ago 3 of us went in to eat. We were the only customers and there was only one server. He was nice but then noticed he was sweating profusely, unable to stand still, talking non stop and had his mask on his chin. At first we thought "this guy is crazy ha ha" which quickly changed to ""this guys scaring us". Not sure if we was on meth, heroin or a case of bad Tourette's. While eating we could hear him making loud, strange noises, beating on his chest and banging on things in the kitchen. I did see a cook come out who didn't seem fazed whatsoever. We quickly ate our meal which was okay and the male in our group told us to go to the car while he paid the bill in cash because he was afraid if he was an addict he might steal the credit card numbers. I would think this server is probably a family member but he needs to be kept in the back of the house (although you can still hear him from there). I won't be going back. read more

What a terrific find! Not your run of the mill Mexican Restaurant. The food and staff were above average!! Would definitely recommend this place and the location is stunning!! Will return again real soon! read more

The food was awful and the service even worse. I implore you not to waste your money here!

Terrible. Between the 99 cent bin decorations and the constant feeling that I'm going to vomit after consuing the "authentic" Mexican "cusien" I felt auschwitz food plan would ha e been better. Staff on the other hand was super duper fantabulous! Great service but the food was less than questionable. The "chicken nuggets" we're just unbreaded public hair. Very dispoint. The Mexican soda was delicious aside from the projectile watery satanic diarrhea spewing from my log cutter afterwards. This is not a place for family outing but instead a place where you bring someone who has wronged you and you are looking to get the ultimate revenge on. 10/10 best time of my life. Seriously amazing I love eating dog shit. It's kind of my fave honestly. Ever see that episode of Futurama where bender refuses to get that upgrade to become okay with the x1 robot? And he runs away to that outdated island? And then they decide to downgrade the world and along the way his friends get trapped under the ship because of him and he can't save them because he's wooden and fire messes him up and then x1 is like fug yeah and saves everyone and bender is like I love you x1 you're great and then he wakes up and all that was part of his uograde? Yeah its like that but not really I need to sit on a doughnut now because of the extremely chapped asshole. Balls balls balls I love dog shit. Again 10/10 keep up the good work! read more

Cinco De Mayo - Mexican Near Me - Cape May, New Jersey

Everything on the menu is good, but the pork carnitas tacos are the best in the area. However, the kitchen does take a bit longer than you expect. Be patient, it will be worth it. read more

After reading some negative reviews, we went back to see if something had changed. It had not. We again enjoyed very good and authentic Mexican food. The Mole Sauce was delicious and the Mexicana Faita was very unusual and definitely worth a try. The service was fine and the fact that it is a BYOB is a plus along with the reasonable prices. It is not fine dining, but it is very good for what it is. read more

Anyone thinking about dining at this restaurant, don't do it. It took 25 minutes for us to get our food and there were only two other tables being served. The waitress was really rude also. read more

Okay food, but the poor service is the reason why I will not be returning. Two waitresses covering 4-5 tables total. Long wait to receive food for it being as slow as it was. The waitress continued to buzz past me, so it took some effort to gain her attention. I eventually asked for a box which I still did not have 15 min later -but she continued to clean up empty tables and sweep the floor around me. Finally I received my box but not the check. I ended up approaching someone else at the hostess stand so I could pay and get out of there. Unimpressed. read more

This place is just ok. The poor service bumped its rating down to 2 stars. The food was very average. The views of the marina were the best thing about this place. The hostess/server was annoyed to be at work. She didn't smile or greet us. Way to decrease your tip, lady. read more
