I was using Rogers ISP service for many years, until they moved their support to India and they became so detached from customer interest and arrogant that I was fed up with them and wanted to switch. I was dragging my feet about switching ISP until then.I started looking for a compatible but more cost effective solution and found CIK. That was 5 years ago. The main concern was about the reliability of smaller ISPs. So I asked existing CIK customers and had their feedback and they were generally happy with the service especially the reliability. I finally gathered enough "courage" to ween off Rogers and signed up for CIK. I have been using CIK ever since. In earlier days they were small and had minor problems. But they were so eager to please that they bent backwards to solve your problems. It seems CIK is a well managed company. They are expanding and growing rapidly. They did not take the profit and put in boss's pocket. They reinvest in new tech. Over time they rolled out ever more modern and powerful functions including upgrading speed from 6Mb/S to 15Mb/S for FREE. Now, IMHO, their network is every bit as good as Rogers, if not better. I am not associated with CIK in anyway, except as a paid customer. Let me list what I have now and you can make up your own mind. 1. Unlimited Internet access, no usage limit. (Rogers charge over limit fee) 2. Internet + Home VoIP phone + Digital TV box at $49.95/month (Rogers: $150) + $50 modem deposit. You can even waver access fee. 3. Web down time - insignificant. 4. Scheduled FREE Upgrade to newer technology and functions (including fibre optics access with Bell DSL) at no extra cost 5. Unlimited world-wide long distance at $3.00/month 6. Their motto is "Customer Is The King". Their office is open for serve on Sat and Sun. 7. Service phone call to CIK wait time is insignificant 7. Face-face service is available at Consumer Rd office, NOT in India. A couple of minor thumb downs: 1. Chinese language-centric. You pay a small extra for local English programs. 2. TV access to programs over Internet including tens and thousands of FREE movies, TV series and variety shows mainly from Asia. Internet video is subject to occasional freezing (like YouTube) 3. Cheap? Sure. Reliable? No. If you're getting this, you might be Chinese, BUT trust in the yelp reviews when people say it is garbage. Convince your parents out of it before they get into this mess. If they get in, you'll be met with a bunch of lies repeated over and over...almost like a cult. Trust me when I say if your parents get into this shit and they call the chinese call centre, they will be convinced by those lies over and over, because "they sound so honest and professional". It will take a LOT of effort to convince your parents out of it once they are in. This is more trouble than the cheap internet is worth. This is the most UNRELIABLE internet ever, like pure dogshit. UnLimIteD InTerNet means jack if I am the only one on the internet and my online lectures pause up every time; online tests or assignments also means jack if you cant rely on this internet. They will throttle the fuck out of your internet usage if you use too much which is stupid as fuck; they throttled my internet for 2 days so I couldn't even use the internet. When I called the customer care centre, it wasnt met with the Chinese customer centre where they "pretend to care" and say it was maybe due to construction or some shit. Nah. instead the call centre tried to upsell you on upgrading internet which I denied. After a numerous amount of calls, magically the internet is fixed for a while. This happens repeatedly; shit goes consistently down for a while, but after a fuck ton of calls, the problem becomes fixed. Yes, they will quite literally throttle your internet/deny internet access so they can try to get you to upgrade it. "Customer is king" is pure bs, you're treated like the shit stain on a shoe. If I didn't have my cellphone and relied on the phone system they provided, I would literally be dead in an emergency because it is a shit show. I've also caught them secretly billing me higher without my permission and no e-mails indicating an increase in costs. Literally all practices are so shady and behind the scenes. Avoid at all costs. Do not fall into the trap. Their internet service might be cheaper but I figured out later why so? If you are already with CIK pray to God you never ever have to deal with CIK customer service. Its the worst service I ever have to deal with my entire life. Especially, if you are cursed, you will be hooked to an Indian Call Center Service Personnel to suck your blood, frustrate you to a limit where you will curse yourself for changing your ISP to CIK(Their Canadian Counterparts are more helpful and take good care but unfortunately very rarely your call will be received by a Canadian Call center) . They do not know how to deal with the problem but they do know very well how to play with you. They bounced me back and forth from Customer Service to Tech. Support. First they installed my connection three weeks before the date it was requested. When I try to use the internet it never worked in fact the modem could not link itself to the server. When I complained, they made me redo all the installation every time I call to remind them of my problem. Believe me, i have never wasted so many hours of my life just to get a small job done. It took them one month to send a technician only to figure out that connection was never installed properly at first place. One month? Seriously, that too after I called them everyday for more than an hour explaining every new CSR who will take my call, the same whole story back again. Finally when my connection is installed they are not ready to credit me for the month they do not provided any internet service which they promised they will. The best they say they can do is give me only FIVE days credit and that's the maximum their company can do. I would never recommend there service to anyone out there. I have recently noticed that my internet speed for certain websites have been noticeably slower than other sites, regardless of the time of the day. When I checked my internet speed on Speedtest.net and various other speed test sites, I have been getting 75/10mbps, which is the correct internet speed for my plan. I decided to conduct various tests on the sites I was experiencing this slowdown. I have tried playing Ultra HD and 4K video on various streaming sites such as YouTube and Netflix, however, my internet connection speed would not be fast enough to play the video without stuttering or buffering. However, when I used a VPN (located in Toronto) on the same sites, I experienced seamless playback and there was no stuttering or buffering on the video. I have conducted this test several times, on different devices, and during different times of the day. The VPN connection was faster than a Non-VPN connection EVERYTIME. This suggest there is evidence of internet throttling or traffic shaping that CIK is using to intentionally slow down my internet for certain sites. After my discovery of this issue, I contacted a senior technical support staff. He walked me through various tests and concluded that there were no issues with my internet. When I asked about if CIK throttles internet, he stated that CIK does not throttle internet or shape traffic in anyway. I have been with CIK Telecom for several years and overall their customer service and internet reliability has been poor. I would not recommend CIK to anyone and I am seriously considering switching ISPs. read more

They offer you a package of voip phone, internet TV and internet, but why have many services when you can't get any of them right? The phone is extremely staticy and it's hard to hear from either end, the TV lags (or maybe it's just the internet) and the internet is the worse, it's hardly ever at the promised speed, and even when it is, many sites fail to load, I suspect it's CIK throttling specific, popular sites (esp. youtube, I can't watch a single video). Even loading yelp and submitting this review is a pain. They throttle you if you use over 1gb/day, which is untold before signing up...realistically, anyone would use over 1gb/day. For future ref, you should never get unlimited (except from big ISPs), as they throttle. When you try to contact customer support, you get redirected to a call centre in India, and if understand their English, you still won't get anything due to the poor connection. You can call Chinese customer support, but it'll take them days if not weeks for them to respond, and you're lucky if it's with something useful. The wireless router they supply is also complete garbage and you shouldn't use it...it overheats and the signal cuts off half the time. Well that's my two cents on CIK, you should really only go with bell, rogers or teksavvy in canada, as other ISPs are just as terrible (excluding DSL). read more

CIK has been my internet service provider (ISP) for eight years. I had cable internet during my days in Vancouver and when I moved back to the GTA. Before that, I was with Rogers. I had degraded service for several weeks for my TV and cable internet. I dealt with seven "support" folks who insisted that the modem was faulty. I insisted that it was a problem with their circuit. How come my TV and internet were intermittently failing when my TV signal didn't go through the modem? I proved them wrong when I got a new modem from my local Rogers store, and this fix didn't work. A technician came out to replace the physical cable outside my house, which dangled on the tree in front of my door, for a few days before all that was fixed. Absolutely garbage company. Signed up for 45mbps down 15mbps up a few years ago, litterally have NEVER gotten that speed... lately they have been throttling the connection after ~6pm to where it is LITTERALLY unusable, cant load a page, much less watch a video. Tests showed my speed at 0.165mbps!!! When I called to get it fixed, they told me I'm on a 25mbps down and 10mbps up plan for $60/month. NOT what I signed up for. Then when they "fixed" the speed, my wifi completely stopped working and only wired ethernet connections would work. And even though they "fixed" my speed, I was STILL only getting 20mbps down and 1mbps up! I ABSOLUTELY suggest you stay away from this RIDICULOUS company. Complete scammers. I have had enough with my previous internet/home phone service provider Distributel after 8 years with them and on friend's recommendation I switched to CIK Telecom in early Feb 2021, a decision which I am extremely happy with. Kudos to CIK Telecom for their excellent customer care, technical support, competitive pricing and efficiency. Now I enjoy super fast internet speed of 150mbps with fantastic WIFI coverage including in my house basement. Thanks to CIK powerful modem and TWO stand alone routers (versus the pitiful modem/router combination unit I had before from Distributel), and without equipment monthly rental fee. The service used to be nice for damn years, very cheap plan, multiple people used internet everything was nice until beginning of 2019 they just changed then they started blocking ports of games or streams so the bandwith is very limited. For example games or even streams will be terrible but everything else works. I once called to get it fixed and i had to argue over the phone the person on the phone so called "senior tech" went on a h uge argument with me like which customer support talks over the customer? Cik is providing fast cable internet at a price that is much less than my previous internet cable provider. In fact, they are re-selling from the same provider that I used to be with directly. I am getting the same speed (rated at 100 mbps and consistently tested at 90 mbps) plus it is unlimited. I've been with them for 8 months, and in that time I have noticed two outages that lasted a few minutes each. There was another outage that lasted (part of?) one night but that appeared to be a system-wide outage, probably weather-related damage at the cable provider's end though that is a guess. Wait times to talk to a tech that talks over you are 30+ mins. Internet is soooo slow you can celebrate a birthday waiting for a site to open. If you want someone to degrade, and talk over you, call customer care. If you need to know anything about what you're inquiring about, call CIK. If you want to disconnect your internet and go with someone that values you as a customer, it takes more than a week, 4 calls to them, 5 hang-up, and you can have all the rude, talking over you that you need in life. read more

I have been with CIK for 2 years now and I have changed plans with them over the course of time. And I must say their speeds and services are as promised. The customer service rep on the line can be a little bit difficult to understand at times but you feel he or she is trying their best to accommodate the customer. So far I only had to replace the modem because mine was too old for my new plan and could not handle the speeds. I sent my old modem in and got my new modem shipped very quickly. I am happy with the price and the services they offer. I haven't found any better deal for internet yet. read more

CIK was recommended by a friend. I have been using CIK for about 2 years now. In the beginning i know nothing about this company. The reason i choose them is because their price is fairly cheap compare to other companies in the area. The connection is great and i always get the speed they advertised. However, there was one time i didn't have Internet connection in the morning and i had to call them for support. I called them and it wasn't a long wait. Terrible Internet company, TV buffers due to slow internet. When I tried to contact the support line, the rep didn't understand anything and continued to tell me my internet speed is fine when it's not. Kept telling me the internet is slow because I'm not using the CIK router (I bought a way better router to boost my wifi). Treated me as if I didn't know anything about computers (I'm a BSc student). My original home internet from another "big guy" company was not very good for their price, so I planned to switch to other smaller guys to give them a try. And when I knew my friend was using CIK, he told me about the referral thing, for which I got a $20 discount. So, I finally started their service, which didn't disappoint and worked well for me. I also loved their staff (I forgot her name, lol), who was very helpful and patient when I experienced some issues. I wish they could have fibre internet soon for my home tho. read more

I signed up with CIK Telecom because they offered unlimited for a low price. I did not have to worry about overage fees anymore, unlike with Bell or Rogers. Gaming and streaming is still fine and acceptable even when everyone is working at home or just staying home because of this pandemic. recently i have upgraded speed of my internet service, called them and picked up new modem with the same price i had paid before. the speed feels smooth, no issue since i got the new plan. kids gaming ok, no complain. thx read more
