I rarely hammer a place on a review but if I could give this place ZERO stars I would. I'm from Florida and have been in Iowa freezing my nuts off for over a week. On top of that I've been craving the opportunity to sit down for a decent smoke in a warm place. Today, I had just just enough time for a smoke and maybe getting some admin work done. Found this place online and asked a co-worker to drop me off and pick me up later. Luckily I asked my co-worker to wait until I could take a look inside to see if there was some place to sit (based on the pictures I saw online there appeared to be a lounge area). As soon as I got out of the car I noticed that they had a separate entrance for members. I still walked in to see if there was a place to sit on the other side. As I walked in I saw a high top table close to the register and asked the guy behind the counter if I could sit at that table if I bought a cigar. The guy flat out just said no. Bro, it's not like you even had people in there trying to buy sticks! The nicest thing I could get out my mouth was "forget it then." Guess who has friends who enjoy cigars. My boyfriend is a fan of cigars so he definitely enjoyed browsing though before buying. They also have ash trays and various other smoking accessories. The staff was friendly and helpful, he was checking in w everyone about whether needed help w choosing a cigar out or if there was any special occasion for the purchase. Which I think is great if you're looking to get a cigar as a gift for someone. And your purchase of cigars comes w a free mini box of matches. They have a swanky looking smoking room for members. This is the best cigar store in the Des Moines area! The store itself is not huge; however, they have everything you need and more! The walk-in humidor is great! It's packed with an amazing selection of cigars from average to top shelf!! The humidity and temperature always seems perfect. The staff is also great. They always greet you when you walk-in. They also always ask what you are looking for, and they also accompany you into the walk-in humidor. The staff is very knowledgeable about the types of cigars, duration of smoke, and flavor, which is very helpful for the novice cigar smoker. Most importantly, the staff is not arrogant at all! They are very friendly to work with especially if you know nothing about cigars. I have been to other cigar shops where the staff had an attitude because I was not as knowledgeable about cigars nor was I a regular. At Cigar Source, you will never have any of these problems! They also have a nice selection of cigar supplies like lighters, cases, ash trays, and more. If you forget your lighter, there is nothing to worry about. Smoking room $10 for day pass and you get kicked out by 6:00 p.m. If they want me to buy a cigar from them when I'm passing through the least they could do is provide complimentary pass for a couple hours. Best selection of Rocky Patel cigars in the state. Anything by Rocky is good but try the Sungrown. This is a nice shop with a well-appointed humidor and decent prices.
