When you walk into this place do not expect the warm fuzzies nor outright friendly service. The owner is a local dude with lots of local customers, possibly a pack rat (stuff everywhere), but with a good selection of cigars. He seemed rough around the edges and honest. So when you walk in, walk in with aloha attitude. Not sure if there is a backstory, but you have to earn his trust and confidence and you'll realize he knows his stuff and he has a good selection. Unfortunately, I do not recommend this cigar lounge. As a matter of fact I don't believe it should be called a lounge. The owner made us feel very uncomfortable! Felt like I had to beg to get into the humidor. We needed to know what we wanted before going in and only after he led the way in. Then the next customer comes in and he let him walk right in, with a child?! WTF?! ‍ How freaking rude. l read the reviews so I was a little apprehensive about checking this place out. I am a fair regular to Tobaccos of Hawaii so I decided to check this place out. The store is quaint sized and his humidor is stocked up with various brands, with the focus being Arturo Fuente, which is one of my brands! The owner left a mix impression. He was not rude, but I felt more like I was walking into a man cave then a Store establishment. He was knowledgable about the cigars I was looking for and gave me what I asked for. I asked for Arturo Fuente Hemmingway Classics and got three, then he opened a box of the Hemmingway Work of Art and told me they were great smokes without asking me if I wanted to buy any, before shutting the box which I thought was odd. Hemmingways Classics were aged well and in good quality with a comparable cost to other stores on Hawaii. Cigars were stored in a ziplock J C Newman bag which was nice. Overall the feeling I got was the owner loves Cigars. I think he is passionate about cigars and maybe runs his business like a person who cares more about the product then making a ton of money and that is okay. I assume once you got to know him he might be a great source for quality cigars! read more

I thought it was really cool that Oahu had a specialty cigar shop, but when I arrived there (12ish) they were closed till 1:30 PM per their sign. So I decided to wait it out by walking around the other nearby stores. I arrived back to the cigar shop 2ish PM to see the owner (?) was inside the shop with another man. I tried to enter the store, but it was still locked. The older man opened the door, but didn't let us in. While standing outside the door entrance, I informed the owner of what kind of cigars we were looking for, but was told he did not sell those brands. I then inquired if he had anything comparable, but was told by him he only carrys the best and doesn't have time to educate us. I asked about the price range of his cigars, but he would not give an answer and basically said he didn't have any time for us since he's busy and that we would need to go into his store with a lot of time to really understand cigars. Kinda hard to get into the store when he held the door only open enough for his body to block the entrance. He wouldn't give us any recommendations of what we could purchase or allow us into the cigar shop. So I told him, "Thank you." and left. There is no Aloha spirit here my friends. His selection of cigars might be the best on the island (by what I could see through the glass window), but his customer service/ Aloha spirit is severely lacking. My advice: Only go here if you know exactly what you want and is stocked. Otherwise, you'll get better customer service shopping online. read more

When you see the shop when you first walk in, it is a turn off due to the large amount of boxes. Definitely not a place to sit and smoke like a lounge and we couldn't go into the humidor room with the cigars. Normally, coming from Dallas, TX all of the cigar stores will allow you to browse inside. Other than this, the INVENTORY IS FANTASTIC! Came to Oahu for vacation. On the third try of looking to check out the inventory I was somewhat greeted by what I can only believe to be the owner. I really like to visit cigar shops and spend money, especially the locally owned mom and pop shop types. However, upon walking in to this establishment I was asked what I was looking for. I just wanted to see what type of selection this store had and then make some choices. Never in my life have I been treated so disrespected. I honestly feel bad for this man. You can tell he is lonely in life and miserable every day in his own store. I was ready to buy two cigars but when I asked how much the box would be he said, I will tell you only if you are going to buy it. I finally had had enough of his attitude. Apparently if you're from CA you are a POS to this person. As I walked out of the store, he shouted from behind the counter, take that chip off your shoulder. Went to visit the shop today and spoke to the owner. Very knowledgable and has a affection towards Auturo Fuente Cigars, specifically Opux X. I had an interesting conversation with him about cigars but at the end of the day, good place to check out, but it's messy to stay and chill to smoke a stick. I went in today to purchase cigars and I could not have had a worse experience. I asked for a specific brand of cigar and the owner Joe, said, would you like a better one than that? I was referring to the number one cigar rated in cigar aficionado for 2021 and he wanted to try to push another cigar on me. The point is that he couldn't answer a simple yes or no question and tried to pawn a Fuente off on me. He sold the poor guy prior to me an opus X for $45. This cigar lounge has been around Oahu for quite a while. That said, I went there yesterday to enjoy a cigar. The selection wasn't that extensive ... a very safe variety with nothing esoteric or out of the ordinary. Prices are a smidgeon higher than other cigar shops I've visited (and I've been to several around the world). The owner, Joe, was also the cashier. He seemed more nonplussed than anything when I bought my cigar. I went to the seating area (not big) and took a seat. While Joe was helping another customer, he made it a point to tell me loudly that "The chair you're sitting in is for the king." "The king?" I asked. "Who's that?" "Me," he snapped. So I moved to the couch. When he finished with his customer, he ambled over to where I was and announced, "Here in my shop, I have a couple of rules: "1) Nobody sits in my chair but me. "2) I don't allow anyone to use their phones in here. You can use it for answering calls or emails, but you can't use it for anything else!" Oooo...kayyyy. I live & work in Silicon Valley, where checking up on your Facebook profile (among other things) is about as common as breathing. It's a sea change in the way we all socialize, so this blip in Luddite condemnations is a little short-sighted, to say the least. Besides, there are other cigar shops in Hawaii which are far more welcoming, have broader selections, and have fast WiFi. If you abide by the rules at Cigar-Cigar, you'll have no problem. Very nice place to find a cigar and enjoy a quiet, relaxing smoke. Joe has a great selection of aged Opus X and other brands that made for a very enjoyable, post ox-tail dinner, afternoon. Got to "talk story" with him and another patron Reid while watching Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan; a classic. Cigar-Cigar Etc. is now my "go to" place whenever I am in Honolulu. Unless you are desperate for a cigar fix, I would never recommend this shop, and it is because of the owner's attitude that I would rather buy a box of Swisher Sweets at the drugstore than ever walk into this shop again. The owner was incredibly rude. The door was locked when I tried to enter and he told me it was because of the wind. I should be thankful that he saved me from having the wind pull the door from my hand. Okay we are off to a bad start that only got worse when he didn't have the stick I was interested in. Then he tried to sell me a $25 smoke but I wasn't allowed to touch it. But the coup de gras was when he threw the F bomb at me for suggesting that a sign on the door about the wind would be appropriate. We exchanged some heated words at that point and parted company, but I will never be back, don't waste your time trying to be nice to that guy. read more

Throughout my travels across this country I come across many businesses, restaurants, hotels, etc. I am always seeking out a local humidor to create a new experience. Needless to say, I have visited many cigar stores over the past 10 years. I now work for a company based in Hawaii and travel there often. It is always nice to feel welcomed when traveling alone. Someone who takes in interest in what you have to offer in terms of conversation and experiences. Joe is that person! Though the cigar store isn't fancily decorated, it feels like home when I walk through the door because of Joe. He is well versed on cigars and is attentive and interested in your tastes and needs. Despite the first glance chaos, Joe's humidor is well stocked with some quality gems; all you need to do is engage Joe in conversation. I can attest to the quality of Cigar Cigar cigars. His selection is quality, not quantity. I have spent plenty of time hefin' with Joe while discussing our favorite Westerns. The price? It is elevated. But, isn't most retail in Hawaii? I would rather pay a little more and receive great customer service than be ignored while sifting through run of the mill and generic selections. If you have the opportunity and the time, go! Went in here looking for boxes. Person in there was watching me like I was gonna steal something. I was dressed decently, short sleeve button up shirt, Khaki pants, and tennis shoes. I wasn't wearing my usual long sleeve button up shirts, with dress pants and dress shoes, but c'mon. I wasn't wearing a cheap, nor expensive watch, but it was a very nice $300 dollar Armani dress watch. It felt like I was a kid going into Lau Tang store in Waianae, and the owner watching my every move. Then he tells me he has no patience for "box hunters". I was gonna buy a cigar, too, but he tells me wants to talk with another person. If it was that important, he should close the store for the time of that meeting, or hire another worker who can help me. So I guess he didn't want to work for a sale, or make money off boxes which he gets for free, anyway. So I went to other places, and they were way more welcoming than Cigar-Cigar. I'm pretty much a bona fide cigar aficionado. I also manufacture my own cigar humidors and have smoked hundreds of different cigars but much like the previous review, I don't fit your typical cigar smoker profile...but should there be one? We're not all fat, middle aged, balding men in tacky golf clothes. You'd be surprised at the diverse array of people that are into cigars and if you are one of them, or want to try a premium cigar this is definitely the best place on the island. Upon my first visit, I was greeted by the owner, Joe. He was very friendly and it was quite refreshing to speak with someone who is as passionate about cigars as I am. I read about how he ages his cigars on the reviews here so I wanted to check with him about it. He does indeed take every new box he orders and stores them away for at least a couple of years. This is very convenient as a shopper because I don't have to buy extras and store them in my humidor before smoking them. Regardless of what type of cigar I'm in the mood for, Joe has one to satisfy every palette. While there were a few brands I wished Joe would carry, his humidor provides everything to satisfy seasoned aficionados as well as beginners looking for something more mild. Whatever you decide on, you can be sure it is going to taste better than if you just picked it up online or at another store because of the aging process. As for the rest of the shop, there are a wide array of accessories (cutters, lighers, humi's) as well as a couch, tv, coffee table and a refrigerated selection of non-alcoholic beverages for sale. (come to think of it, it might be BYOB, but I didn't ask) I haven't stopped in and enjoyed a smoke in the store lounge, but definitely would like to when I find the time. Joe knows his cigars and it would be a great atmosphere to sit there, chilax, enjoy a smoke and "talk shop". Mmmmm, all this writing is got me craving a cigar now. Nothing like stopping by Cigar Cigar, sliding the humidor door open and smelling all the wonderful aroma of Joe's aging cigars. I actually enjoy cigars on a regular basis, so I can review this shop from a shopper's perspective. If you love cigars, this is the place. You'll pay a dollar or two more here for a cigar. With good reason. First, you get the owner, Joe Hilton's experience. He's been here over ten years. Second you get his ability to age to perfection. Joe isn't buying stock for today. Shipments come in, then disappear for a year or two. Yes, Cigar-Cigar ages their cigars to perfection. And that makes all the difference. When you buy a cigar from Joe, you know it's going to be good. If you are going for your regular smoke, it will be better than when you buy it anywhere else. It's been aged that way. And if you are going in for a recommendation - like a good sommelier, after a few questions you'll be pointed in the right direction. Simply put, this is the best cigar shop in the Aloha State, and I think the bad reviews say more about the reviewers than the business. Yelp is a forum for uninformed whiners. Somebody like Joe is there to provide education. Yelpers don't want it because they think having a Yelp avatar and a smartphone makes them an expert on EVERYTHING. If you enjoy aged cigars -- if you enjoy rare, hard-to-find sticks like Opus X, Between the Lines, and Fuente Anejo -- then Cigar Cigar is your place, and Joe is your man. If you, on the other hand, think a smartphone, some notes you regurgitate from the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado, and a Yelp account make you more of an expert than someone with three decades in the business then find somewhere else.
