I come here whenever I need a little creative spark or just want to try something new... pottery, rug tufting, candle making, you name it. There's always something fun and inspiring going on, and I'm always here for it. If you're looking for a place that's equal parts creative playground and feel-good hangout, this is it. And the owners? Truly some of the best humans ever

For the candle-making, it was a unique experience because everyone got to decorate their candle container, choose a scent AND color for their wax, and then decorate the actual wax too! There were an abundant amount of decor options as well. It was a really artistic and creative candle-making class compared to the general white candle/white container classes, and everyone got to take home a nice product the same day! I participated in the pottery class, and having done pottery classes before, this is truly the best one I've been to yet. Ruben was the most patient and flexible pottery instructor I've met. We had the opportunity to throw 3 pieces of clay, and everyone in our group was able to successfully make 3 full objects. This is mostly because our instructor was able to fix and guide us through most mistakes/issues (holes, breaks, lopsided walls, etc). After throwing the objects on the wheel, we were able to add handles/lids/accessories, add decoration with stamps, or carve/fix our pieces with more carving tools. This was also pretty unique for a pottery wheel class. After the pieces are finished, you can take them home as clay decor, fire them for $2, or glaze them during a separate glazing day for $10. Overall an extremely well run and well-taught art playhouse and we highly recommend it for groups/individuals! Hoping to return soon for their rug tufting class too!

First of all, I want to say that I'm giving this place two stars and not one because it is a…read morenonprofit and I respect that they offer low cost art classes. However, I don't appreciate the way I was treated here and I was not satisfied with the instruction I received. 1) There was a bad storm one day and my teacher called me to tell me that class was canceled. Later, the owner blamed the missed class on me and said that because "I" didn't show up then I couldn't make the class up or get a refund. Eventually, she told me that I could make it up, which is fine. But I didn't appreciate being told that I was at fault for missing the class when my teacher was the one who canceled it. 2) My teacher was impossible to contact. He didn't have a cell phone and then blamed students for not contacting him. 3) My teacher was a nice guy but I could barely understand him and he could barely understand me. He would get frustrated with me for not understanding his English. I am from the Miami area and should speak Spanish but unfortunately I don't. It doesn't matter though because this place is supposed to be bilingual. 3) My teacher never really taught me how to draw, and as early as the first class he had me doing pastels. I felt like I never really got any real instruction. A lot of it was just trial and error and trying to guess what he wanted me to do. I wasn't ready to move onto pastels because I hadn't learned to draw yet, but drawing instruction stopped after the first class. 4) Payment: payment time was not clear, and when I did not pay on time (due to the canceled class), the owner got nasty with me, but I had no idea when the payment was due in the first place because no one told me. I wasn't evading the payment but she acted as if I was. 5) I switched teachers and classes. When I went to the new class, the new teacher looked at my pastel work and said "You will get better after time", threw a landscape magazine with work that was way too difficult for me, then walked away to attend to someone else leaving me without any instruction for over 20 minutes. I was just sitting there without anything to do waiting for him so I walked out. 6) Before I walked out, I called the owner who told me that I could not get a refund for the classes even though I didn't take any of them. I am in an emergency situation which is why I had to stop attending classes and leave South Florida, but she was not sympathetic to my situation at all and I ended up losing $90. I'd rather spend more money to get quality instruction and better treatment somewhere else.

All of the teachers are professional and extremely knowledgeable in their medium. Every month we participate in the District Art Walk, the 3rd Saturday evening most of the local galleries open their doors to the public. Miami Art Club has recently added wine painting parties to the schedule. They are hosted by real art teachers and include all supplies and wine!! This past March we had a small group paint roosters for the Chinese New Year. I'm planning my daughter's birthday party for later this summer, she is so excited. I learned so much in every single class I took. In university at USF I took a semester of ballet and the teacher complimented my technique as being the best one in the class, all thanks to the wonderful education I received at academy of arts. Now in 2025 my 3 year old daughter is taking classes and is enjoying every class. My mother, daughter and I recently went to the Christmas show and we were so proud to experience the show. It was such a great show, still professional and beautiful. 13 years later and Academy of Arts is still producing wonderful dancers. I highly recommend this studio to all dancers and artists who are eager to learn and perfect their craft.

This is a full dance school that offers: Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Pas De Deux, Lyrical, Tap, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Modern Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Drama, Piano, Guitar, Violin, and Voice. The faculty is certified and have led professional careers in their respective areas of creative expertise. They begin laying a foundation from the preschool years all the way to young adulthood. And they have both female and male students. They also offer an AfterSchool program and work your child's classes at a mutually suitable schedule. The cost of the classes is comparable to other dance academies. I have enjoyed closely watching the development in my niece, as well as in many of her close friends. I also look forward to their professionally-mounted recitals every year.
