Day two, the painter showed up, no extension cord, Luckly I had one. No prep was done at all, I asked, he said paint would adhere to the metal. So, he painted over the dust, rust, and bird poop. I showed him the patch the size of half a dollar bill that came off when the tape was removed (stuck better to the tape then to the metal fence), with the tape, still dusty, just took a brush to repaint. I expect anyone brushing against my fence will remove the paint. The ad said power wash, and loose rust cleaning, neither was done. I had high hopes but was very disappointed I could have done the same for $200 not $1700. I hoped for the best and got the worst. Even the paint can say to clean, wire brush, then dust the area. I feel I got only half the service that I paid for. On the plus side, I found out before I have to paint my dozen rentals.

Friday came and went with no one showing up again. After more calls and emails, we were told (again) it was a communication error and that they would come Saturday. They finally showed up today--only to tell us the job would cost more because the original estimate didn't include some necessary patching. This is a direct result of estimating from photos instead of doing an in-person assessment. When we called to address this, we were told they could come out to re-estimate. At that point, we canceled the job. Our time had already been wasted for three separate days. If an in-person visit is required for an accurate estimate, it should be done from the beginning--not after multiple no-shows and schedule changes

We also paid extra to have them do what is called a roll back or back rolling. After they sprayed two coats of paint they then go back over it with a paint roller. This ensures the paint gets into all of the stucco nooks and crannies. This also helps to make sure that your houses paint last much longer. Years longer in fact. I highly recommend paying the extra cost to have this extra process done. *From the web: "Back-rolling increases adhesion by forcing the paint into the grain and pushing out the air that would otherwise be trapped in the texture.
