Ive been to this restaurant several times, and the food is consistently excellent. The rigatoni vodka with chicken hits every single time, I've never had a bad meal here. The staff, from the hostesses to the waiters, are always kind, professional, and do a great job. I truly have no complaints about the restaurant itself. I'm writing this review because of a very strange experience we had that I feel compelled to share. We had a reservation for my mom's birthday. When we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready because the previous guests were still sitting there after paying their bill. This was absolutely not the restaurant's fault, and we had no issue waiting while the table was being cleared. Another couple came in and was in the same situation, also waiting. There was one open booth, and the host let us know it was reserved by request. Totally fine, no one had an issue with that. Then a third couple arrived, and that booth was assigned to them. While I was simply talking to my mom, the woman from that couple suddenly got in my face and yelled, "We live here!!!" and then walked off to the table. She came off very angry and mean, which completely caught me off guard, as well as the other couple waiting; they were also very taken back. It was such bizarre behavior. The situation had nothing to do with tourists, snowbirds, or who "lives here." We also live here year-round, had a reservation, and weren't upset or making faces, we were just waiting patiently. The entire interaction was confusing and unnecessary. To be clear, this review has nothing to do with the restaurant, which we love and will continue to return to. This is more of a message to that woman, in the off chance she reads this: that was one of the strangest and most uncomfortable interactions I've ever had in a restaurant, and it made absolutely no sense. We showed up on a busy Friday night in season, but were still able to get a high top in the bar area. Our waiter, Nick, was a delight, and he helped us choose some really nice happy hour drinks. After some warm bread with three spreads (olives tapenade, olive oil, whipped butter), we all enjoyed our entrees. I loved the chicken parm...it was a large portion, but I finished all of it. We were headed to the theater afterwards so we couldn't take leftovers with us. My favorite part is that the restaurant has great acoustics. Excellent restaurant to work with making a reservation for a large group. The staff was very helpful and accommodating as our number kind of went up and down a few people, but in the end, our group of 25 was very happy and had a great time. I enjoyed my Caesar salad and salmon dinner with a lava cake dessert. The salmon could've been cooked longer, but was tasty. My husband ordered lasagna, which was huge and delicious. read more

Food was very good and lots of GF options for my mom. Our server was the new owner. The restaurant is sort of plain but the booths make it feel more cozy. We all had different things - Frutte de Mare with a very good selection of seafood on top of linguini in a light tomato broth. Pork chop w mashed potatoes, Brussels, and apple chutney for rave review, mom had gf veal Marsala which she said was very good but rather swimming in sauce so it was hard to taste the veal. I had 2 appetizers instead of an entree- ricotta gnocchi and the beef carpaccio. Every was very good but not great. I felt all the items I tasted were slightly under seasoned. Maybe that's due to. An older clientele? Anyway, a very enjoyable night out. Not sure if we'll be back. Pricey for merely "good to very good" dishes. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We went with friends and I got to order the octopus appetizer. Absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is nice and comfortable. It can get loud, but you can carry on a conversation. Our entrees were great, I ordered rigatoni and my wife ordered the ravioli special. The entrees are wonderful. Food was delicious ( Iforgot to take pictures), I had the Bolognese which was made the way it should be made, too many places do it wrong. My husband had the Chicken Marsala and we shared the scallop appetizer which was also very nicely done. He said the Marsala was perfectly done and the chicken was extremely moist. We had the Pistachio Cannoli for desert, more than enough for both of us. We did not leave here hungry and we didn't leave overstuffed, we were both pleasantly satisfied. Their bread was fabulous with the garlic butter or the fresh olive oil. The service was excellent, our waiter was James and he was definitely a joy to have him, he's funny and knows his menu very well. Carmen, the owner was exceptionally wonderful and knows how to please her clientele. The ambiance, especially considering this is in a shopping plaza was very pleasant, we felt like we were in a family dining room and treated like a beautiful family. Thank you Carmen!!!! CIBO Restaurant Review. 2/28/2926 Horrible, and we didn't even have any food. We arrived to an empty restaurant and they placed us at the two worst tables (in the bar) in the restaurant. I'm on their email list and thought we going to an exclusive restaurant. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty except for 3 people in the bar and a couple in a booth also in the bar. The hostess placed us at the tiniest table in the restaurant in the bar. We refused that table so she gave us a second table that was just as bad. We left. These two very undesirable tables are the last tables that should be used only when the restaurant is full ......NOT the first tables to be used when the restaurant is empty. Again, this was a horrible experience. It was insulting, disrespectful and disparaging to be treated so thoughtlessly. I can now see why the Cibo restaurant was empty, and I will never go there again. read more

This us simply a very good restaurant. We were here Valentines Night, 8 30 reservation. All we had to do was show up and seared at 8:30. Service was super. Our waitress Carmen was informative, and her personality made the even more special. Appetizers good nau. Course and dessert all excellent. read more

We went to Cibo expecting a nice night out, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The only genuinely good thing was the bread. At first, we thought the service was fine--until the end of the meal. Our check was $110, and we placed a $150 bill on the table. The waiter picked it up, immediately put it in his pocket, said "thank you, have a nice night," and walked away without asking if we wanted change. It made us extremely uncomfortable. That's a very large tip to assume, and it felt inappropriate and awkward. As for the food: * The clams tasted like they were cooked in chicken stock, which is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. I am pescatarian, so this was especially upsetting. * The caprese salad was bland--the tomato was not ripe and had no flavor. * The octopus tasted old and overly fishy, not fresh at all. * The Caesar salad was limp and wilted and had to be sent back. * The bolognese pasta was just so-so. * The cannoli filling was dry and tasted old. * The tiramisu wasn't bad. * The cappuccino was good, but it came in a tiny cup. Overall, the experience left us frustrated and uncomfortable. Between the quality of the food and the way the payment was handled, we would not recommend Cibo and will not be returning. read more

Cibo is one of our favorite restaurants in town! The atmosphere is always great, and the food never disappoints. Our server, James, was fantastic--attentive, friendly, and gave great recommendations. Cibo might not look like much from the outside, nestled amongst other stores in a strip mall but step inside, and you'll be greeted by a warm atmosphere and the friendly staff. The service here is top-notch. They were extremely attentive to the table and each time they came through, there was a bright and happy attitude. The food itself is a delightful representation of classic Italian cooking. Everything tastes fresh and uses quality ingredients. While the flavors might not be super intense, they are well-balanced and true to the Italian tradition. We have a group of friends that have been coming from NY for many years on an annual guys (golf) trip. A couple of our friends are snowbirds and have places in Fort Myers. We had gotten into a rut going to the same places every year. Last night we decided to try our luck at Cibo and it was awesome. Our server was extremely helpful and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She had great suggestions and came to the table several times to make sure that we were satisfied and had everything that we needed. The food was out of this world. Everything from the bruschetta app (which I had) to the octopus was delicious. The entrees were as good if not better. And the value was incredible. We will definitely be back next year! read more

Disappointing experience. We've been coming here for years and this was not what we've known Cibo's to be in the past. The staff was adequate but not very friendly. The menu has changed and is much more limited. The food has become bland. The sauce on the manicotti tasted like it came out of a jar and the shells were tough. The tiramisu was mostly whipped cream. Not sure if the chef has changed or what has happened but it was not for the better. After being a customer for many years I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

I was looking for a place I've never been to before to try for dinner. I've seen this place a few times and after reading the reviews it was a no brainer that this is where I had to go! I was super excited to try a new (to me) Italian place. They give you bread to start with and my picky self loved the garlic butter they give you to spread on it. For dinner I had a hard choice between a few of the pasta but ended up with the vodka penne plus chicken. The flavors were on point and the pasta was delicious however the chicken was quite chewy. My mom had a veal pasta dish. She said the veal didn't have much taste but she she enjoyed it still. Since it's almost my birthday my mom let me get desert hahah we got the volcano cake with ice cream and it was sooooo good! As a pleasant surprise it came with chocolate covered strawberry as well. Very reasonably priced and and service was very good, as it got busier it did take longer to get a cappuccino then it should have but it was not a problem! read more

Cibo is old school Italian fare. Reservations are made by phone not online. Place is always busy regardless of the season. The service was excellent, what struck me was our busser"Alex" introduced himself and said he would be taking care of whatever items our server would not be bringing. Never experienced that in all my years of dining out but I loved it. We had the spinach manicotti appetizer which was the perfect size and delicious. I ordered the fish special that was a mild fish with a cream sauce with spinach and shrimp on top. Outrageously delicious. My husband had the chicken parmigiana and he loved his food too. It was busy so service was a little slow at times but we really enjoyed our evening. Definitely recommend dining here if you have not, reservations are a must even in the summer. We were not able to get a reservation till 7:30 calling early on the same day and leaving a message. It's in a shopping center but don't let that deter you because the dining experience is spectacular. read more

This was going to be our place. I just knew it was going to be awesome. Cibo was recommended to us and although it's in a strip mall, inside has a decent ambiance and feels authentic. That's sort of where the great ended and the rest of the evening unfolded. We sat in the front right, which was great except they kept grabbing glasses, salt/pepper, etc from the hutch behind our party. Kind of odd. We then went to order and I called the night before to verify what foods they have that are gluten-free and soy-free. The manager I spoke with told me they had gluten free pasta and confirmed when we were coming in (the next night) and our name. Great! Nope - 3 of us went to order gf pasta and they're out of it. Say what!? Not like - gee we sold out of it an hour ago. Just that they don't have it. Would have been really good to know when I called the night before. Anyway, the waitress wasn't very good or helpful (maybe she was new) so we regrouped and ordered other options and were still excited. Then the food came, but only for 1/2 the table. The rest of the table waited at least 10 min for their food to arrive. The manager was called over about it and we were told that they're busy in the kitchen. That's it. Wow. So....1/2 the table had completely cold food by the time the rest of the table received their food. No offer to re-heat the cold food, no apologies, just "enjoy your meal". If the food had been amazing, maybe I could have still held out hope. The Mediterranean salad was quite good and would order that again. There were a couple people in our group who also enjoyed their pastas (regular, not gf). However, the veal parmesan was the toughest piece of meat we've ever had. The steak was ordered medium rare but delivered medium well. At that point we didn't even complain any further as all of our issues so far were met with apathy and inaction. What a bummer. We did have the creme brulee to end the meal, which was fine. Should note that while we were there the table next to us spilled a full glass of water across their table. Nobody from the restaurant came to help out. even though we were right by the host stand. We almost got up to offer our napkins and assistance. Very odd. In the end, we will not return to Cibo again and I would not recommend to friends. Poor service, poor management response, food issues. read more

I don't know if she was busy with too many tables ( since the restaurants was not packed ) luckily good conversation made it not noticeable. Exceptional spaghetti bolognese as well as the spaghetti and meatballs. Wonderful warm bread and butter/ tapenade. Service was fantastic, not rushed, but definitely attentive. A smallish place with a full bar in a strip mall. Owner sitting outside thanked every patron. I've been looking for good Italian since we moved to SWFL and I think we finally found it !
