Looked at my online bank statement and noticed I was charged 103.00 dollars as a maintenance fee. I went down to the bank and I was told, oh, you should have received a phone call as that is for old checking accounts. We can set you up on with a 14.95/month maintenance fee. No mention of any repayment of the over charging maintenance fee because I was not contacted either by phone or by online banking email. I mentioned that ATB was a flat 10.95/month and was told, they are Alberta only and not a National Bank, as if that even matters and was irrelevant to the conversation, I then pulled up a 9.95/month RBC fee and was told, I cannot price match and my manager is not in right now. No offer of setting up a meeting with the manager. I was then told, if I was to keep a balance of 3K, they would not charge fees. Treat banks, especially the CIBC in Sylvan Lake like underwear, change them often. No loyalty for long term customers only for newly signed up customers and from the last 5 times I have dealt with anyone in person at the branch, very rude and dismissive. Would not recommend banking with CIBC in Sylvan Lake Alberta. read more
