This restaurant is probably the best in the west. Opened only this summer and is already booked out every night. I have dined there twice, and each visit has been just great.
First of all.. the decor is really cool. Minimalist, clean and fresh with contemporary paintings which (I was told) were painted especially to suit the ethos of the dining room.
The owner is a young, talented and ambitious chef with a great crew working along with him.. he was front of house when we were there, which must means they are a good team of chefs working together, with the same goal in mind, to present beautiful food and make sure the customers have a lovely evening.
The food is top class. It is really well cooked local produce. Adventurous menu with something to suit every palette. We had the mussels for starters which were so fresh.. accompanied with an amazing hot sauce ()crazy bastard sauce) from Berlin. We enquired about the sauce, it's made by Cian's cousin, we loved it so we were lucky enough to be able to buy a bottle from them!) Delicious bread to mop up the mussels.
A sorbet arrived at our table while we were between courses.. i think it was blackberry .. so refreshing.
Main course was sublime! I had a steak that I wouldn't even need teeth for!
Selection of veg, and delicious sauce. My friend had the turbot special and she couldn't stop saying 'mmmm' (quite annoying)
Dessert time.. we needed a break from food so we focused on the craft beer..
After a while we talked each other into trying dessert.. when the lovely waiter, Chris, came back he suggested that we have a platter of tasters.. an art on a plate arrived! Tiny bits of deliciousness that were too nice to eat but too nice not to eat.. bliss dessert.. Chocolate tart, pistachio tart and Cian's ice cream!!!
Anyway, we couldn't move after this meal.. so there was nothing else to do except continue to drink craft beer and stay the rest of the evening!.. such a great meal.. such a great night!! read more
